Chapter 366 - Walk Home

Chase and Equan found themselves on a slow walk through the nightlife of Seh Jenah as they continued on their way home.

The rain slowly crashed into the already wet pavement as they walked under a string of lanterns lighting the district outside of the coliseum.

Although neither of them had said any words since they had departed from the tavern, Chase found himself eventually muttering about the sweat building up behind his mask before a street performer in a full sprint ended up tripping over a deflated balloon on the ground only a few feet away from the duo.

Equan stepped over and helped the man up, before he bowed- thanking Equan for the assistance and continued on his hurried sprint.

"It's strange..." Equan frowned behind his black mask.

"What is?" Chase asked, putting his hands in his pockets while the large bag on his back swayed heavily left and right with each step, holding the contents of his overly flashy armor within them.

Equan shrugged.

"All of it, I guess... Ya know? Only a couple years ago, we we're just a couple of stupid kids at some academy learning about like taming griffins or dueling our peers.... Shit like that ya know?" Equan mumbled about their past, which made Chase only grimace behind his own mask.

"We are still just kids..." Chase eventually said, which made Equan probably roll his eyes behind his mask.

"How so? Most of us are or almost are like actual adults now." Equan said as a matter of fact while holding up his palm as rained splashed into it.

"That may be the case, but we have like little to no experience in life as of now, and I doubt any of us will truly be as wise as an actual adult for a few years to come." Chase added with a soft chuckle as they found themselves on a ghostly part of Seh Jenah, as the only two living beings walking on the wide road late at night.

"I guess... But like, what type of kids have taken down entire kingdoms, and have even fought a lesser god?!" Equan pondered aloud in amazement, looking up at the sky as his lightning blue eyes shone from the holes in his mask.

"Probably our ancestors..." Chase joked, although he found himself doubting that he had actually said the words as a joke, seeing as his own ancestors were probably battling cosmic deities at the age of twelve.

The two of them found themselves in silence once more, walking along the lonely road that would eventually lead them out of the city and to their cozy Tudor home.

Equan turned his head towards Chase, scratching the side of his mask as he probably thought of a way to say whatever it is he was going to ask.

"What's your goal in life?" He asked, making Chase frown behind his mask.

He simply shrugged.

"Not sure... I mean, you know about my corruption now... I doubt I'll even make it three years from now-"

Equan smacked Chase on the back of the head quite hard, considering that his arms had been shattered around only a month ago.

"What the hell?!" Chase groaned, rubbing the back of his wet golden hair with a grimaced expression.

"Don't what the hell me... You know damn well some corruption is the least of your worries, I mean shit! You have litterly defeated a lesser goddess in combat... You took down Rider dude!" Equan exclaimed, almost appearing as if he wanted to stomp his foot into the ground right then and there.

"But-"

"No "Buts", we're gonna figure that crap out and find a cure, don't even stress it! Now, tell me: What is a goal or a dream you have, you gotta have one, right?" His voice trailed off at the end, his eyes showing pity as he questioned if Chase even had some sort of purpose or reason for all of his efforts.

"I don't know... I don't really think about life like that, I just kinda move onto the next day when it's time I guess. But..." Chase found himself scratching the faint sigil that had once been perfectly engraved onto his shoulder.

"But?" Equan followed up, patiently awaiting an actual answer as they walked.

"I could say something like claiming the throne or something, but I honestly don't care about ruling anything... But, If I had to pick one thing that I did want to do in my life, it would probably just be getting rid of all of the evil in this world, and just making it a better place for future generations..." Chase realized that he had stopped walking entirely, before looking up at Equan who had turned around a few feet in front of him, and was waiting patiently for his friend.

"That's honorable as hell dude... Like, some heroic crap I can't lie..." Equan mumbled, scratching his chin beneath his mask as they continued on their walk.

"What about you?" Chase asked, curious of the answer that Equan would give, before internally remembering that it was Equan who he had just asked this question to.

"Hmmm... What can I say...? Probably marry twelve of the hottest women on the planet. Or one, I would happily take one if the rest of unity will set out for a similar dream!" He laughed, fully serious in his tone.

Chase simply frowned at the greed of his archer friend as they continued on.

It wasn't until late when they found themselves walking through the rustic door of their home, by now the moon and constellations were at such an unfamiliar position that Chase could only assume that it was around three in the morning by the time they had arrived.

When they walked into the home, they found Gemini who was slumped over the side of the couch with no signs of waking up anytime soon.

Kaylynn waved tiredly from her seated position on the foot of the stairs, and Luke muttered something from the kitchen before placing his head back on the kitchen island as snores followed soon after.

Meanwhile at the center of the living room, Luna was staring down at two molten hot carvings of metal in her hands with a proud expression on her sweat ridden face.

She turned around and smiled at Chase, holding out the two carvings with a bright smile on her face.

"For you!"
