Chapter 314 - Within The Runes...

Chase ducked underneath the swinging blade bolted like a saw. Then after the immediate sense of danger-Chase shot his hand out, gripping the shriveled skull of a mindless skeleton.

Feeling his soul ache, he lit the skull aflame.

Neon green flames lit up the dark hallway, rooting underneath the towering fortress of what was once an ancient city-As the flames decimated the already decayed bones.

Feeling the skin on his arms lift from beneath his armor, Chase tilted his head left-narrowly avoiding the bolt of lightning flying past the back of his skull.

The golden electric arrow crashed into a horde of skeletons crushing over each other as they shot down the hall like a tidal wave.

Chase rolled his eyes with his back toward the team.

"Watch it please..." He asked his party with clear signs of annoyance.

"I didn't hit you though!" Equan chuckled, already knocking another arrow.

"Should we come down?" Reinhart asked, lifting his shield from against the stone wall.

"Yeah, this guy aint even got a sword..." Leo grumbled, lazily waving his battle axe behind his back. Several times the axe would swing too far and nearly hit Neveah who would panic then return to worry as she watched the backline.

"Nah... Actually, I got an idea. Yo! Actor. Shoot me!" Chase demanded, while staring intently at the incoming horde ravaging through the halls like a plague.

Equan shrugged, drawing the string back against his nose.

"You asked for it..." He mumbled, sweat dripping onto his black and gold Chestplate.

He fired, aiming directly for Chase's chest, just as the horde reached a distance of two meters from hitting Equan's friend dead on.

Chase grinned-turning his body and grabbing the electrified arrow out of the air.

Violent golden sparks protested, just as the terrible feeling of being cooked alive. Yet, Chase simply put the pain in the back of his mind as he charged axis into his ankles and knees.

All within the span of a couple seconds-Chase had turned active lightning into a spear, and charged nearly four stars of Axis energy into his lower body. He would not have been able to achieve such a task without the help from soul sense...

The golden blade thrashed into the mob of skeletons like an instrument of death. As he slashed in every direction, his body rocketed forward through the entire cloud of raining bones and dust.

Grinning as he came to a sliding stop-Chase let the golden spear crackling with electricity, shrivel out and dissipate into nothing.

However, he could still feel the terrible dread eating away at his mind...

Thirty minutes earlier...

Everyone was lazily leaning against the ancient walls with clear tiredness in their lifeless eyes, or kneeling down and chatting with each other about random topics that had no correlation to the strange studying of their friend.

Chase curiously analyzed every single nook and cranny on each side of the ten by ten room.

The only worthwhile thing he had discovered on the old granite walls-were the eleven symbols written in crimson, matched symmetrically on every column of each side of the wall.

"Does anybody want to help? or am I just gonna be stuck here tryna figure this out on my own..." Chase asked, turning his head annoyingly at his seemingly lazy allies.

"Sorry." Reinhart apologized, while pushing his body off of the wall. However, before he could actually get anywhere, Leo grabbed him by the wrist and shook his head.

"Chase. There isn't anything here. We have checked the place tenfold already." Leo said with a look of anger and exhaustion.

"He's right... Chase we haven't found anything, and if it's as big of a deal as you're making it... We honestly aren't strong enough to go do down there..." Gabriel worried reasonably.

Chase frowned, stepping over to Gabriel, and standing directly in front of him.

"Go on..." He grit his teeth and awaited for Gabriel to continue naming reasons that threatened Chase's leadership.

"We haven't eaten in three days..." Michael groaned, leaning his frosted over back against the wall.

"Look, Chase not all of us have the endurance that you have... We can't go on like this..." Luke chuckled, looking around at everyone with worry in his eyes.

Chase also looked around. But with more sureness than before.

"There are eleven of us... We should have figured this out the first-Eleven of us..."

Chase sent a jolt of energy into his neuron pathways, as he quickly ran over to the marking of a faded out skull on the wall in front of him.

"Quick! Everyone find your correlating rune!" He called out, staring intently at the crimson drawing of a skull that gazed equally into his own eyes.

He could feel it.

The souls living within the molecules that made up what they call energy-screaming and calling for anyone to light the hivemind of living creatures that formed matter itself.

He set his palm against the cold surface of the wall, puffing dust in every direction like a vortex of wind.

Primis began to travel through the mana pathways beneath his flesh, rippling and anxiously climbing forward and towards the sigil on the wall.

Static shock ran through Chase's muscles as his vision blurred...

"I was right..." He snickered-staring at the glowing skull that no doubt was tied to the entrance of Olympia.

Equan quickly ran over to the actor's mask that's blood red paint ran lazily down the wall with jagged strokes.

Luke let his crimson energy flow into the one left of Equan's column. His was the mechanical bow that had already begun to vanish from the wall.

As everyone charged their corresponding ruin-Chase's eyes lit up as he studied every glowing color, that lit up the ancient room.

However, his dread had amplified tenfold.

Whatever was within these ruins...

Chase was not sure if he really wanted to find out...
