Chapter 244 - Chapter 244

"I cannot believe I am leading these idiots..."

Onyx muttered, as he took a heavy breath underneath the darkness of the moon.

Three caravan's full of soldiers were under his command, and some of them were actually pretty damn impressive if he was being entirely honest.

But he did feel kind of left out...

He did wish that he could join battle aside his friends, but his job was probably the most important among his allies...

He needed to make sure that his army was enough of a threat to gain the full attention of the academy's stationed army...

"Alright fools!"

Onyx raised a sword, pulling the brim of his dragonscale helmet down.

A cold smile took place behind his helmet, as his sword rested in the air.

The caravans were nearing the city's gates, and his men all looked at him expectantly.

"Let's kill some bastards..."

He said once a knock was heard from outside of the caravan wall... Meaning that they were officially inside of the city.

He kicked down the door, and let out a war cry.

"KILL THEM ALL!"

Onyx screamed drawing his longsword from it's sheathe.

The first guard had a look of genuine surprise on his face, but it was the sigil of a horse on his shield that drove the tip of Onyx's sword through the man's throat...

Everyone followed, as they charged through the city with Onyx at the head.

It took quite a while for the horns of battle to sound, which was even better...

They had caught them off guard...

He slashed downward, ripping a man in two, then turned on his heel as a giant soldier swung his war hammer down on top of Rider.

Holding his hand up, he caught the full force of the hammer with his palm, although he was struggling from the man's mighty power... Onyx was a dragonkin, and this man was not.

With a ferocious scream, Onyx pushed the hammer back, pushing the soldier off balance, and letting the hammer fall where Onyx once stood.

He dashed forward, leaping up onto the man's shoulder, where beheaded the man with a clean simple swing of his sword.

As the man toppled over with Onyx on his collapsing shoulder, he let out a pleasant scream of war.

"ONWARD!"

He jumped just before the corpse crashed into the ground, landed on another soldier, and ripping into him with the claws of his gauntlets.

The man screamed and howled below him but Onyx found a strange joy in murdering these men in such an unfair fight.

Just as their king had done to Leander...

"DEATH TO THE KING!"

Onyx screamed, as his men followed him up the sloped roads of The City of the Sun.

It only took about five or so minutes before an entire army was descending from the rocky roads that led to the academy...

However, that was far longer than Onyx had originally assumed it would take.

Hundreds of women and children were cowering at the windows of their own home, which signaled to Onyx that it was time.

"HAND ME IT!"

He screamed to the backline of his meagre army.

As he killed several more soldiers, his own were passing up something of vital importance.

Onyx pierced the chest of a man, and then kicked him down, before sprinting behind the tanks and reaching out to grab a long polearm.

He sheathed his blade, and pulled the string of the polearm, then swiftly shoved it underneath his helmet where he held the string between his teeth.

Then he lifted the polearm into the air...

"FOR LEANDER!"

He screamed with all of the fire in his heart...

As he swung the flag of The City of The Sun in the air, he screamed and screamed, praying to the ones above that Leander was watching him.

'I hope you are proud of me Paps..."

"COME ON! KILL THESE BASTARDS! IF YOU ARE OF AGE AND OF SPIRIT! TAKE UP A SWORD AND FIGHT BACK!"

Onyx screamed, climbing on top of the caravan that continued to push forward behind the army...

Holding the flag as high as he could reach, he finally realized that the wet liquids falling through the gap in his helmet weren't that of sweat.

They were that of tears...

'I'm sorry Summer... I know it doesn't mean much now... But...'

"I LOVE YOU SUMMER!"

He screamed as he waved the flag...
