Chapter 239 - Chapter 239

Three black cases were neatly set out in front of Chase, with Onyx looking down and intently studying each one at his side.

Chase knelt down and clicked open the first one, where he was immediately met with a dark green shimmer from inside of the case.

"This one is of Veyronite steel... Made perfectly for someone who prefers to use darkness as their primary weapon, it is forged from the strongest of serpent bones and ores found within the stormy caves of the far north..."

Chase reached toward the armor and brushed his finger against the material, which felt almost like static energy scraping against his skin.

He moved his hand, and gently tugged on a strange cloth-like material that must have been put where flexibility was needed, such as underneath the shoulder plates and so and so.

"What is this stretchy material?"

Chase asked curiously.

"That my lord... Is Nyxweave, a fabric woven from the most pure of shadow-silk worms, as you can feel, its jet black fabric-like texture is such as a second skin if you will..."

Chase scooched over to the next case, and slowly lifted it open.

Inside was a vibrant suit of gold and silver-like materials, and it looked quite strong even to Chase's novice eyes.

"That is an alloy known as Aurivium... The perfect mix if you are trying to blend durability and weight, it also hardens when it is heated up, probably perfect for an affinity such as yours..."

He chuckled, while pointing at the cloth that binded the light plating together.

"This is an incredibly rare fabric... Known as Solarflex thread... It was made by compacting the ashes of peacefully passing Phoenix feathers, which makes it nearly impossible to obtain now..."

Chase shook his head slowly, and moved over to the final case.

"I think I want this one..."

Ricardo nodded.

"Fine choice, I figured as much as well."

"Woah! Woah woah!"

Onyx shouted as he put a hand on Chase's shoulder with a disapproving shake of his head.

"You haven't even seen this one yet! How the hell do you know if you want this one over the last one?"

Chase shrugged, but Ricardo simply chuckled.

"In my days... Many great warriors have chosen an armor before even seeing the pleasantries within the case... This one is actually one of the originally scrapped pieces that I have thrown away in the past, but over time I continuously removed it and tried to look at it again, only to leave it on my shelf for ages..."

Chase reached down and clicked the notch open...

Lifting the lid slowly, he looked down at an obsidean black mantle that rested within the comforts of the case.

Onyx unslung the bag around his shoulders and sighed as Ricardo and Chase gently pulled the armor out of the case.

"It is only fitting that you would choose such an exotic alloy for your set of armor..."

Ricardo sighed solemnly.

Jacob dragged over a wooden armor stand, and set it next to them as they began to assemble the surprisingly light armor around the arms and base of the stand.

"Unlike the last two... This one has no name, which I find quite fitting for a boy that the kingdom of sun had once called the nameless..."

The four of them stood back admiring the set of armor laid out upon the armor stand, glistening as it reflected the vibrant orange light of the forge.

"What is it made of?"

Onyx asked with a strange tone in his voice.

"Obridean Alloy- Once upon a time, the kingdom of elves and dwarves had allied themselves for the great war against the giants... However, they could never agree on a material that suited the needs of both warriors... So in the end they created an alloy by mixing both of their most prized materials... Those being... Star-Iron and Volcanic Obsidean..."

Chase stepped forward, reaching out his hand, letting it brush against the warm surface of the armor.

"Bu- But the cloth is what makes this piece so wonderful..."

Chase gently pulled on the fabric of the light armor that seemed such low-weight for the amount of condensed plating around the larger surface areas of the armor.

Actually, now that he began to study it, the only plating of the armor resting on the breastplate, abdomen, outer thigh, shins, shoulders, and forearms. As the rest of the armor was entirely made of a slick black cloth that seemed extremely flexible, but also nearly impenetrable just from the touch.

"Infused with ancient aetherstones, this fabric was made in order to act as a sort of compressed muscle to be added on top of the skin, it carries the properties of both healing overtime, and storing kinetic energy. And I forgot to mention that it also cannot be burned, that is why this is the only suit of armor I have that simply has gloves made of the same cloth as the armor's lining..."

Chase grinned.

"Can I wear it?"

"Of course!"

Ricardo chuckled, and nodded his head towards a small changing room that rested behind the large furnace.

"Wait."

Onyx blurted out quietly, as he held out his bag for Chase...

"What is it?"

Chase asked in confusion.

"J- Just open it when you have equipped the armor... I thought it would suit a king well..."

Chase nodded, taking the bag, and the armor stand as he dragged it across the floor slowly as his heart skipped beats.
