Chapter 369 - Chapter 370: Succumbing to Money

"Wait… wait… hold on a second! So you guys came to me just to have me steal something?"

Scott suddenly felt like he had been tricked. They actually want me to steal?!

"I need to think about this. If Dr. Pym just wanted me to help with house chores, I would've agreed without hesitation!"

Scott stood up and pointed at the ceiling and the chandelier. Even during his short time in the living room, he had noticed the overwhelming number of ants—and now, in this room as well!

"This house is infested with ants! I'm starting to suspect that there's an ant kingdom beneath us! Ant suit? Ant warrior? Am I dreaming right now?!"

The more Scott thought about it, the crazier it seemed. His voice trembled, especially when he noticed the floor around him suddenly crawling with a dense swarm of ants.

Wait… could it be that I was right? Is this whole building actually built on top of a giant ant colony?!

Or was it just some kind of deep-seated animal instinct kicking in?

Hank Pym frowned as he observed the ants. Surprisingly, none of them were responding to his earpiece controller. Instead, they were gathering around.

This was the first time Hank had ever seen ants that ignored his commands.

No… something was off…

His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the ants. They were trying to approach Alan, but the moment they got within fifty meters of him, they suddenly turned around and retreated—like they were afraid of something.

"What the—" Scott blurted out a curse, glancing at the growing number of ants. Should I just stomp on a few?

"I strongly suggest you don't." Alan crossed his arms, a mysterious smile tugging at his lips.

"Those are Paraponera clavata—bullet ants. Their sting is agonizing. These are your future teammates, so get to know them well."

Hank Pym turned sharply to Alan, his face full of shock. How does he know about these ants?!

"Teammates? Mr. Alan, you've got to be joking." Scott had already lifted his foot to stomp on an ant but immediately froze in place.

He believed him.

If these ants really were bullet ants, then a single sting could land him in the hospital. And the problem was—he didn't have that kind of money.

"Come on, they won't bite you," Hank assured him.

As soon as he spoke, the ants suddenly moved in a disciplined formation, parting to create a clear path for Scott.

Hank decided not to dwell on why the ants were so afraid of Alan. The priority right now was getting Scott trained as quickly as possible.

"This is unbelievable, but… I haven't agreed yet—" Scott snapped out of his shock and immediately tried to make it clear that he hadn't accepted the mission yet.

"This is your payment. If you successfully complete the job, I'll give it to you. And if you're still unsure, I can provide 40% upfront."

Hank Pym pulled a check from his pocket and waved it in front of Scott's face.

Scott's eyes nearly popped out of his skull.

He had never seen that much money before. He swallowed hard.

Turning this down would be stupid.

"Deal!"

As Scott and Hank headed toward the basement, Alan finally exhaled in relief.

Pushing the story forward is tougher than expected…

"Alan, I…"

Alan turned to Wanda, who looked a little downcast.

What's wrong?

A hint of worry crossed his mind. Is she feeling unwell?

"What's wrong? Do you feel sick?" he asked gently.

Hearing his concern, Wanda's heart filled with warmth.

"I was just thinking about my brother… I still can't reach him, and I have no idea where he is."

Alan instantly understood.

She was worried about Pietro—Quicksilver.

A soft smile formed on Alan's lips as he gazed at Wanda.
