Old Author's note: Just in case anyone forgot. We are past the point of what Elias knows about DxD, so don't expect his knowledge to save him. And again, sorry for the delay, quite a busy weekend, but here we are. Battle starts next chapter, with, as you can see, a lot of changes and other forces at play. Hope you all are excited!! See you mid-week.
New one: Chapter is late cause the last fought me like a drunk bastard. Ended up being almost 8k of pure politics, shudders.
Celestial Ascendancy
Chapter 77: I Am What I Am.
Elias Black.
Kuoh, Japan.
"Excuse me!?" The blue-haired exorcist shouted once her voice returned. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at me. I didn't doubt that if she had the ability, I would be cinders right now with how hard she was glaring at me, "The church has all its right to treat the witch as they did!"
I looked at her and the other exorcist, the one who had been silent since before I entered the room. They were surprisingly cute, but I didn't focus on that for long. And the beauty was only present if you excused the filth coming out of her mouth.
I saw the other one wincing at her side, but she stayed silent. As if she knew that what the blue-haired one was saying was vile, but still accepted it because it was the norm.
She was probably the intelligent one, just for not opening her trap.
"I believe your angel said, silence," I declared and snapped my finger.
She tried to open her mouth to say something, but she couldn't. Because she had no mouth. Transfiguration was quite interesting; human transfiguration, even more so.
Her eyes widened as well as the other one, and she started touching her face in alarm, trying to find what wasn't there anymore.
I had no idea who they were, but what caught my attention was the two holy swords they had. The one behind the blue-haired one was quite interesting, but even behind all those seals in the cloth, I could see it clearly.
And… I was disappointed.
They had a similar signature as the sword I gave Kiba a while back. Still, I had thought that mine was so weak because the sword was more focused on the invisibility aspect before anything else.
But no, those two swords in front of me were weak. Don't get me wrong, I felt something interesting about it, and I was pretty curious about its ability. Still, as wild as its energy felt, it was quite regular.
Maybe I had been pampered by the Grimoire, but I liked my weapons much more than these.
Both of them moved to take their weapons out, but a simple wave of my hand, and they were rooted in their place. Golden chains spawned from beneath them and bound their forms.
I took the moment to look at the Angel that was present in the room with a dumbstruck expression on his face. He didn't say anything, nor moved, just looked at my chains with wide eyes.
And damn… What a powerful dude.
His holy power bubbled inside of him, but he stayed put, not doing anything more than looking at me.
I turned my attention from him, and I smiled at Serafall, who looked quite confused, and dare I say, afraid.
"Lady Serafall, a pleasure to meet you once more," I said, "It's been a while, no?"
"Elias," she nodded curtly, "Rias didn't mention that you were coming."
I looked at the redhead who blushed but lifted her chin, and I snorted. God, she was so cute.
"My apologies if my presence is causing trouble," I shrugged uncaringly.
Honestly, I didn't want to meet the angels this fast, but I was just so done with Britain and needed a breather, as well as the feeling inside my gut prodding me into being here. I didn't understand it, but I wasn't planning on ignoring it.
Even if the timetable was too fast, just seeing my girls was worth it. I really missed them.
"It's just that Rias mentioned this situation and I planned to offer a hand if it was needed," I sighed, "Things in Britain finally calmed down, and I wanted a breather. I hope you are fine with this?"
I asked just for formality's sake, because honestly… she didn't have any power over me, and I was in a good relationship with devils in general. But it gave her an out she gladly took and smiled, returning to her bubbly persona.
"No problem at all," She winked, "We have heard some interesting things about your war, but maybe we can talk about that later."
I shuddered, but nodded defeatedly. It wasn't that I didn't want to, but it was pretty tiresome. But in the end, devils could be quite helpful to us, the new Satans side, at least.
So, my suffering was worth it.
"Of course, we can speak later," I smiled, "But if you don't mind me asking, can you explain the situation? I believe we could help, or at least offer some different opinions than usual."
Sona cleared her throat with a blush and moved her glasses up and down, making them glint. I had to swallow a snort because it was just so anime, but I managed. Barely.
"If you allow me, Lady Leviatan," She said formally.
Serafall threw me a mock roll of her eyes but motioned to her little sister to continue.
"It appears that a member of the Grigori, the fallen angel faction, attacked some churches around the world and stole some of the fragments of the Excalibur," She said direly, "Not only that, but it turns out that after killing the wielders and running away, they might have come to this town to hide."
Sona looked at the exorcist, and I saw her lips quirk, "The church apparently sent two wielders out of their remaining three to return the fragments, or destroy them, if that's the only remaining option."
I looked at her to see if she wasn't joking, before sighing when I realized that she was speaking the truth. I turned my attention to the chained exorcists and facepalmed.
"Who's this person? The fallen Angel?" I asked, already feeling a headache.
Rias looked at me with understanding before she said seriously, "Kokabiel, one of their Cadres."
I sighed and looked at the Angel, who seemed startled at the sheer disappointment that must have shown on my face.
He opened his mouth to speak, but I beat him to it.
"You mean to tell me," I began slowly, looking at the Angel and feeling even worse by the second.
I knew what I was now, and while I wasn't going to join Heaven's side or anything like that, I couldn't deny our connection, and I felt that I should offer a hand. But this was ridiculous.
"That you sent two girls, who look barely past training, with two of the same fragments that are clearly being targeted, to fight against one of the leaders of an enemy faction?" I continued, getting angrier by the second, by the sheer incompetence of their side, "Did you send them to die? Because that's what I'm getting from this."
The Angel, whose identity I still didn't know, opened his mouth again, "It's not like that."
"Is it not?" I drawled out, "Then explain it to me. Because from where I am standing, I just see two girls sent to their deaths. Is that how Heaven works? Is that what God taught you? I expect that he must be so disappointed with all of you if that's how you all follow his teachings."
The Angel finally snapped out of his stupor, and his holy power rolled out in waves out of his body. The very room began to tremble as he frowned in irritation and anger.
Rias, Sona, their queens, and even Serafall stood up in alarm as multiple magic circles appeared around the Satan. I looked at them for a second, and seeing the pure fear on the younger ones, I allowed my magic to explode out of my body.
Golden light formed around me, making a barrier as I called for the Aetherius for help, pumping enough to make it solid and strong enough to cover for the devils. I could see the Angel's eyes narrow into pinpricks.
I didn't call for combat magic because I could see through the Angel; he didn't like what I had said, but he knew I was right.
"Do not speak ill of the Almighty," he said through gritted teeth. "Who are you?" he asked seriously.
"From where I am from, it's considered good manners to introduce yourself first," I answered with a slight quirk on my lips, "Was that not taught in your time?"
I usually wasn't this combative, but their actions pissed me off.
"And calm down, there's no reason for this meeting to get violent," I said firmly, but not allowing myself to cower under the admittedly powerful Angel.
He took a deep breath as his holy power began to diminish. "I am Metatron, and it wasn't heaven's direction that brought these two exorcists by themselves."
"A pleasure," I nodded and allowed my magic to get back inside, smiling at the devils to show them I was in control of the situation. Rias and Akeno smiled as they took their seats once more, while Sona was as slow as Serafall.
Serafall just glared at me, and I didn't bother hiding my smirk.
"So, the angels aren't at fault?" I mused and caressed my chin, "Who's fault is it, then? The Church?"
He kept silent, but nodded, and I sighed.
"I haven't heard many good things about them where I'm from," I looked around and sighed, "Fine. Whatever, at least their fates will be different this time since you are here."
"And where are you from, Elias Black?" Metatron asked seriously, and I let the exorcists move again and returned the mouth of the blue-haired girl.
They rushed behind their Angel and took their swords out, but stayed there. I ignored them.
"Me? I'm just a Wizard," I grinned at him, laughing as I saw his head throb in irritation.
"A wizard can not use Holy power," He said firmly, "That light of yours… It's undeniably holy, but it does not belong to Heaven. Something like that should not exist."
"I am who I am," I said simply, not choosing my words, but somehow, it worked to silence the Angel, once again freezing in his place.
"Why are you here? You made it sound like Heaven wasn't exactly privy to this situation before you arrived," I asked, taking a seat next to my girls.
"Xenovia and Irina sent a message when they found some discrepancies in the church inside the town," he replied softly. His eyes… it looked as if he was seeing me for the first time, as if he had seen something.
"I was sent to investigate why the church felt as if it was…" he paused, like he was reconsidering the words, "Alive."
"I believe I might be at fault for that," I admitted.
"How did you do it?" he asked quickly, "How did you manage to sanctify an abandoned church? To fill it with such pure holy light… his light."
"My light," I corrected him softly, "There was a… situation, a couple of months ago. Little Asia here was sent here for her protection under false pretences. I decided to guide her there when I found her alone, carrying all that baggage by herself, not even knowing the language when she was kicked out of the Church."
"It turns out it was all a ruse, and the church was filled with some fallen angels and stray exorcists that wanted to cause her harm," I continued, not hiding a sneer, "Let's say I… fixed that and took her under my wing since then."
"Wing?" The brown haired exorcist said softly, "Are you an angel, mister? How can you use holy power if you are not part of the Church?"
"My apologies," I nodded, "I should have said wings."
As soon as I said that, I allowed my wings to appear, dozens, nay, hundreds of tendrils appearing on my back.
Much different than the six pairs of wings hiding behind the Angel in front of me, mine looked more like tendrils, but strange at the same time. Forming by one second, changing the next, uniting, dividing, and all that entailed.
The two exorcists looked at me with open mouths, just like their Angel.
The only reason I was being so open was to keep them confused and guessing. It was for the best, after all. I didn't owe them answers, nor my allegiance, and I don't want for that to take precedence before the mess of the Holy swords was fixed.
But… It will happen someday. Because I needed to find out more about myself. About what I was.
Serafall took their silence as an opportunity to get the meeting back into the essential bits. Still, even she could not hide the peeks she was taking at me. She looked at me with dread, confusion, and a pinch of what the fuck is going on.
In the end, the meeting took like half an hour, where Serafall promised to call Azazel, the leader of the fallen angels, to ask what was happening and if he had something to do with it, even if Metatron and she admitted to doubting that, because according to them, Azazel wasn't like that.
I decided to take their words for it, because I didn't know him. The Seraph and the two silent and subdued exorcists would stay inside the Church of the town. At the same time, we worked together to gather some clues, promising to share intel if it was needed. For now, that was all we could do.
As the meeting came to an end, Metatron approached me carefully.
"I must speak with you, Mister Elias. Alone," he said, surprisingly softly, and should I say, confused.
I shot a look at my girls, who nodded, and at Serafall, who pursed her lips before nodding once.
"Follow me," I sighed and threw my trunk into the corner of the room, opening it from a distance and walked inside, with a Seraph in tow.
The Hollow.
I stepped into the house quietly, feeling a bit… strange now that we were alone. There was some sort of tension between us that I wasn't sure I liked. It was pretty weird, and honestly a bit abnormal, which probably didn't help.
"What did you want to talk about, Lord Metatron?" I asked, feeling the last words coming almost like ash in my mouth. I said it only to be respectful, but it left a foul taste in my mouth. It was just wrong.
I believe that he must have felt the same, because he cringed as soon as he heard me speak. He was subdued, for the lack of a better word.
"My apologies, Lord Elias," he said quite naturally, and I perked up. Because it was. Natural, I mean. As it was meant to be.
I clapped my hands, and Dobby appeared with some refreshments, and I motioned to the Angel to take a seat.
"I only asked because I felt like I needed to," he sighed as he sat, slumping his shoulders, "Like I would regret it if I didn't speak then."
I stayed silent and waited for him to continue.
"Who are you?" he finally asked after some seconds of silence, "No, that's not it. What are you?"
His fingers clenched, and I saw his wings tremble. As if he already knew the answer but didn't want to believe it.
He just had to have a little faith.
I felt a deja vu and smiled, "I said before, didn't I?" I am what I am, Metatron. Nothing more, nothing less."
He breathed deeply and nodded, "Do you know who I am, lord Elias?"
"Not really," I shrugged, only somewhat apologetically, "I don't follow Christianity, and believe it or not, I'm relatively new to the supernatural world."
He nodded as if he had expected that answer.
"I am Metatron, scribe of God," he declared, and his posture shifted, becoming something more. His holy power flowed, not in a threatening sort of way; instead, it was just as a declaration of who he was.
"I was a mortal once," he continued after a moment, "A long, long time ago. God, Yahweh, took me to Heaven without me dying. He made me what I am now today, and I always followed him."
"It was my greatest shame to miss his last moments," he said sadly, looking at me expectantly.
His expression shifted when he saw I didn't react, "You know about it," he said, before murmuring it once again to himself.
"Then tell me, Lord Elias," he said slowly, "Why can I feel some sort of connection with you?"
"I'm afraid I do not know how to answer that question," I sighed, dragging my hand through my face. I tapped my finger on the table between us while thinking.
"The best way to put it is… because someone wanted that."
He looked at me, and I felt as if he was engraving the moment into his mind before he stood up and nodded.
"That light of yours…" he whispered, "May I feel it once more?"
The sheer pain from his voice made me feel like something was torn out of me. I closed my eyes and nodded, bringing everything into the world.
The fake sky from the Hollow trembled as storms gathered above us, throwing holy lightning down, and the wind picked up speed. My wings unfurled behind my back, my third eye opened, and the sky broke. A tear in reality opened, and the shine of the sun trickled by as the Aetherius began entering the world.
The sun grew and grew until the light was so bright it took everything under its umbrella; no shadows were allowed in my domain.
I felt as a crown of thorns was formed on top of my head and I finally opened my eyes. Metatron was looking at me with tears in his eyes, his wings shone behind him as his holy power bubbled forth and mingled with mine. A choked sob came out of his mouth as his body trembled and he took a knee in front of me, his head touching the wooden floor.
"After all this time," he sobbed like a child, not even looking at me, "I can finally see it once more."
I took a deep breath and closed the gates of the Aetherius as everything returned to normal. The Hollow stopped trembling as the sun above us dried the water from the rainfall I unknowingly created.
"You have your answers, Metatron," I said neutrally but firmly, "Do not speak a word to anyone… Not yet. And wipe your face before we get out there."
Metatron closed his eyes and breathed in before nodding, a slight turn of his lips, "As you command it, my messiah."
I was just filled with dread. He admitted it.
Kuoh town, Japan.
We were finally alone. Sona had left for her house to explain things to her peerage. At the same time, Serafall returned to hell to speak with the other Satans, promising to keep an eye out, and probably return now that I was here.
I think her decision might have been affected by my presence, because she couldn't hide her nervousness and curiosity around me.
But that was fine for me. I was left with the people I was dying to meet again.
Everyone was reunited, finally, and I couldn't help but smile in contentment.
Iris, Hermione, and Fleur decided to give the time for my devils, sitting in front of us while I was in the middle of the two sinful demonesses. Not that I was complaining.
As beautiful and sexy as my witches were, there was something positively sinful about being squashed between Rias and Akeno, with both of them hugging my arms between their breasts.
The rest of the peerage was present, since Rias also had to explain the situation. Gasper was being held by Iris, and I knew her enough that he wasn't going anywhere. The poor damphir was blushing, but his eyes closed when he felt Iris petting his head.
I would think he was part cat because he was almost purring. But that place was firmly Koneko's. She was sitting on Mione's lap while eating some of the treats Dobby had learnt just for her. And she was purring, her tail flicking behind her and her ears twitching.
God, she was adorable. Both of them.
It wasn't the time, obviously, but seeing my girls doting on the small ones made me wonder how much more they would be with our children.
I shivered between my devils, and Iris sent me a wink from her place, probably already knowing my thoughts.
When I told them about the fertility perk, she had been sending me burning glances, and she was not alone. But as much as she joked, we both knew that it couldn't be. Not yet.
Kiba and Pranitha were speaking with Fleur about something, and I allowed myself to slump into the sofa.
"This is nice," I breathed out and hugged Rias and Akeno closer.
"Uhu," Rias nodded absentmindedly, caressing my chest while Akeno dragged her fingers through my hair.
"What did the angel want, Eli?" Iris finally broke the harmonious silence, and I mock glared at her.
"Really, love? Now?" I sighed.
She just shrugged unrepentantly.
I explained what had happened, and I felt Rias hugging me harder, "I will never get used to that… It's just… How did it happen? Why did it happen?"
"Beat me," I shrugged in response, "I have less idea about it than him, probably. It happened, and it must be for some reason, but I don't know yet."
"It must be really important. Apocalyptically important," Akeno said worriedly.
"Jesus Christ was… one of a kind for a reason, Eli," she continued, "The fact that you are just like him… in the present must be for something dire. And… A messiah's end is not something to boast about."
"I'm not part of God like him," I said firmly, "Yes, the system chose me for a reason, but that doesn't mean I will do whatever fate-declared thing it wants me to do. That's not happening."
"I will forge my own path," I said, and I felt something click. That had been gnawing on me since my rebirth and my meeting with the so-called system, and while I had not told anyone about the vision it showed me… I would be ready for whatever happened, and I would come out on top.
"Enough of that," I shook my head firmly, not wanting to think about it anymore, "Mione and Fleur wanted to talk to you, Rias."
The three girls perked up, and I smiled as Rias stood up with a squeal.
"I knew it!" Rias cheered, and I felt Akeno snuggling closer with a soft smile on her face.
"She had been waiting for this," She murmured to my ear.
"Treat them well, yeah?" I kissed her cheek, making Akeno perk up and puff her chest out. I looked at them, and she giggled perversely.
"Like what you see, Eli?" she breathed against my nose, and I nodded dumbly, "They are yours and yours alone, my love."
I shuddered and pressed her closely, making her laugh at my reaction before we both watched as Rias finished hugging Mione and Fleur.
"What do you think will be best, Akeno?" Rias asked excitedly.
"Pawns again," Akeno said firmly, surprising me.
"Really?" I asked curiously, "Would it not be better to use a bishop? They are magical, after all?"
"That's exactly why," Akeno explained with a small smile, "They are magical, and assuming we don't die anytime soon, their reserves will continue growing naturally. While yes, reincarnating one as a bishop would give them a push, it's not like they have hit their limit yet. They are quite talented, after all."
"Huh," I murmured. Well, they knew better, after all. But it made sense what they spoke about.
"And I have a gift, but after," I winked at Rias, who looked over the moon as she took her evil pieces out. She had six pawns left, one bishop, and one knight.
"Come here," she squealed, and Hermione walked first with a long-suffering sigh. She knew what she was getting into, and they were sure of this decision.
Rias put one pawn first, and when nothing happened, she put a second one. Her expression, curiously, was as she had expected it to be.
"Pranitha also took two pawns to reincarnate," Akeno explained when she noticed my expression, and I nodded. Pranitha was probably at the same level back then as my girls now, so it made sense.
I was really curious about Fleur, since she wasn't only a witch. Still, after a moment, Rias also reincarnated her with only two pieces.
Huh, would you look at that.
After some moments, Rias hugged them again, then Rias and finally me, as Fleur and Mione began inspecting their new wings quite curiously, making them flap.
"You'll need to be close to me for a bit while your body grows accustomed to the change," Rias explained earnestly, "But aside from that… Welcome to the family."
"You were already family, dummy," Hermione smiled softly at the devil, making her beam.
"Now about my gift," I stood up, leaving a pouting Akeno behind me. Iris lifted Gasper up and sat him down on her seat before she rushed into my seat, snuggling into Akeno. I shook my head amusedly as I watched them getting comfortable as if it was nothing new.
Rias looked at me as if she had forgotten about my gift, and I smiled at the two new devils.
"This has taken a while," I admitted softly with twitching lips, because it had. The incinerate anthem was a brat; there was no other way of saying it.
"I had not told anyone about this to make it a surprise, but now it's finally the time," I smiled and prodded the Sacred Gear into my hand.
The fire appeared, reluctantly, but it did. I let my light bleed out for a moment and smiled, watching the artifact almost snuggle into it.
"Walburga left us a gift before her demise, and I had been thinking who suited it best," I grinned, "And while I don't have a gift for both of you, I promise to get you something similar in the future, Mione."
Hermione, for her part, only beamed at Fleur, who finally understood what I was saying. She didn't get jealous or anything.
"It makes sense," she nodded, "It fits her best, and she has more magic than I since she is part veela."
Then she mock glared at me, "But I will get you to follow your word, mister," she threatened me with a wink, "I want something that fits me best."
"My word is my bond, love," I smiled and nodded, accepting her threat with a smirk.
The purple fire took a couple more pushes until it finally left my body and flew into Fleur, who gasped as the purple fire coated her hands and chest.
She shuddered for a moment, looking almost delirious as her magic settled.
"I can feel it inside me," she said almost dreamily, playing with her new fire.
"That's what I said," Iris cackled from her seat, and I facepalmed.
Kuoh town, Sewers.
Third-person PoV.
Two cloaked figures walked side by side through the sewers of Kuoh, the only light present coming from the runes warding the place from any eavesdroppers. Both beings trusting them completely to hide them from the Satans and Seraph on the surface.
One of them looked almost deranged, in a way that bordered on madness. His pale face was sharp, elvish, but twisted with an eagerness that never seemed to dim. Five pairs of wings spread proudly from his back, black feathers glimmering faintly. His blood-red eyes were shining with malice.
The other man was more subdued. Cloaked, hiding his features, though the brown hair and silver eyes gave him away to those who knew what to look for. He wasn't showing his power, but the pale one didn't look put out by his presence. He didn't need to, after all. The weight in his gaze, the calm calculation there, was enough.
"I cannot wait," the pale one muttered, his voice trembling with hunger. "So long I've prepared, so long I've waited for this. Soon the world will know. Soon they will see that the fallen are the strongest!"
"Patience." The silver-eyed one cut in smoothly, his tone calm, almost bored. "We move when the pieces are ready. Not before… We can't risk failure."
Kokabiel snarled, eyes narrowing. "Do not speak to me of patience. My legion is ready. Half a thousand Fallen and some extra surprises. Every one of them thirsts for blood. For our war and the chance to burn what the other factions cherish most." His wings flared wider, while the brown haired one rolled his eyes, "They will bring ruin at my command."
The other man didn't flinch. He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face as though Kokabiel's tantrum was beneath him. "And they will die like cattle if you throw them carelessly. Metatron is here, and even Serafall might be present. They complicate matters."
Kokabiel sneered, "Then I will tear their heart out myself."
"Not yet." The second sneered. "Fortunately, our new… allies saw fit to give us some gifts that will make our plans possible."
He reached into his cloak and withdrew two vials. Within them, purple serpents writhed and coiled, their bodies made of pure energy. The glass trembled as if struggling to contain the sheer magical energy inside, even with all the runes covering its body.
Kokabiel's lip curled in disgust, but then he threw his head back and laughed. "A dangerous toy," he growled.
"Good…" He snatched one of the vials, uncorked it without hesitation, and drank it until it was empty.
The effect was instant. His body convulsed, light burning through the cracks in his skin. A scream left his throat, one part agony, one part ecstasy, as he moaned derangedly. His wings ripped wider, and then wider still, until twelve black wings spread across the chamber.
Kokabiel laughed like a madman, "I could tear Azazel apart with my bare hands! And that monster he calls a son."
The silver-eyed one only watched calmly before sighing. After a moment, he drank the other vial, though with far less drama. Power rippled through him, golden light cracking his skin. His gaze sharpened as he flexed his fingers, testing the new strength.
"I detest relying on gifts that are not mine," he murmured. "But… we will need this."
He reached into his cloak again and produced a small crystal. It shimmered faintly before erupting with an illusion, a frozen frame of Rias Gremory's Rating Game. It showed her wings of pure destruction, magic flaring, standing beside her peerage with power far beyond their previous intel.
"She is stronger than I thought," he admitted. "So are the ones she surrounds herself with. But manageable."
His silver gaze hardened as he sneered, "Akeno Himejima, however…" He tilted his head before smiling cruelly. "She is mine. Her corpse belongs to me… I will deliver it to her father myself."
Kokabiel's grin widened, "So long as I have the others, I care little. But I will enjoy tearing her apart first."
They walked deeper into the connections between most of the town's sewers, revealing a large room.
Hundreds of them. Men, women, and children crammed into iron prisons, each body marked by runes that crawled with sickening light. Their eyes glowed faintly black.
Their nails had grown long, blackened, and dripping venom that made the floor hiss even through the shielding spells. Foam and poison leaked from their mouths as they panted for breath.
The silver-eyed man chuckled. "Pitiful, isn't it? Once noble scions of the principal clans… now reduced to this," He leaned closer to the bars, smiling faintly. "But that is the price of being useful."
The prisoners wailed, screamed, and some slammed their heads against the bars. He ignored them all as if they didn't matter.
Turning to Kokabiel, he spoke again, "The plan remains unchanged. We strike at the Church. The changes that happened created a direct connection with the system. If it succeeds…" His lips curled into a satisfied smile. "Heaven will rot, thanks to our Father's own curse."
Kokabiel's wings flexed; he smiled sickly as he observed his new wings. "And Metatron?" he asked excitedly, "Will he fall to me?"
The silver-eyed one scoffed softly. "No. I have something better prepared. The Azure, corrupted for this very purpose."
Kokabiel's grin widened again, teeth flashing in the dim light.
"Then let it begin."
They both kept their distance from the metallic spear gleaming with malevolence. A faint outline of a cursed serpent coiled around it, snarling before it broke into a mad cackle. Both shivered… before smiling.
A perfect virus to topple Heaven.
