Shortly after King Titus created that bright light with his magic, the fairies arrived. The fairies gathered around the table and looked at the game board with great interest and big smiles.
"Is this the game you've chosen for us?" asked Queen Rose. "What is it?"
"It's called chess," said King Titus. "Pay attention everyone, I don't want to explain it over and over again. First, you'll watch me play it with Mary. Then, we'll decide our contest with one game."
Please no. . . When King Titus mentioned me, the fairies shot me some unsettling glances.
"Oh wow. Did you invent this game, Titus?" asked Queen Rose, excitedly.
"Uhh. . . don't worry about where it came from." Said King Titus, scratching his cheek. "Anyway, these pieces are pawns. . ."
King Titus went on to explain the game and its rules. The fairies listened with rapt attention, but I could hardly concentrate under all this pressure.
"Okay, white moves first." said King Titus, looking at me.
