In the Dragon Cemetery of the Dragon's Nest.
The trial's pressure felt like intense force to John, but to Garchomp, it was like an impossible mountain to climb.
But this wasn't physical weight, it was spiritual and breath-based heaviness. As a result, Mega Garchomp appeared to everyone like he was stuck in quicksand, struggling to move forward.
Mega Garchomp walked forward with difficulty, step by step.
He'd already completed one-third of the way, and each step ahead became more and more challenging.
Since John had started MEGA evolution, he understood Mega Garchomp's struggle.
John tried sending out Salamence and also performed MEGA evolution.
He found that the dragon cemetery did indeed have targeted pressure against Dragon Pokemon, but the pressure against Mega Salamence wasn't as intense as against Mega Garchomp.
If the pressure against Mega Garchomp was ten times normal, the pressure against Mega Salamence was only three times at most.
John could suddenly understand why the crown symbolizing "kingship" had remained in the dragon cemetery for so long without being claimed by other Garchomp.
"This is ridiculously difficult!" John couldn't help but complain.
However, John soon discovered that under this dragon aura pressure, Mega Garchomp's mental power grew stronger and the dragon aura around his body became more fierce.
It seemed this dragon aura wasn't just a test, but also a form of intense training.
If Mega Garchomp could successfully reach the crown representing kingship, then even without getting the crown, the training he'd experienced would be enough to advance his strength significantly.
John had originally considered having Gardevoir cheat and teleportMega Garchomp directly to get the crown. After discovering the training benefits, he gave up this idea.
"Let him strengthen himself here," John decided.
With that thought, John took out the Dowsing Machine from his Gameboy.
"Don't let me down!"
Buzz!
As soon as the treasure detector came out, it immediately pointed in a specific direction.
John immediately raised his eyebrows.
'It's detecting secret treasure-level Pokemon items!'
"What's that in your hand?" Saul asked curiously.
"Just a treasure hunting device," John replied casually, looking in the direction the device showed.
Unfortunately, it pointed toward where the "Crown" was located.
'Is the treasure hunter pointing to the Garchomp clan crown?"' John couldn't help but wonder, that would be meaningless. He might have to wait for Mega Garchomp to claim the crown before searching with the detector.
While thinking, John and Gardevoir had already walked over.
The dragon aura pressure at normal multiples was blocked by Gardevoir, having almost no effect on John.
Garchomp's mother didn't stop John from taking action.
When John approached the previous Garchomp King's skeleton, the Dowsing Machine pointed toward the crown.
He discovered the machine wasn't showing the Garchompcrown, but the Garchomp King's skeleton itself. This meant there was something beneath the Garchomp King's remains!
"Gardevoir, MEGA evolve, then search with Psychic. If you find the object, dig it out, but don't damage the surrounding skeletons," John ordered.
Gardevoir put her hands together, and colorful light covered her body. She changed into her black wedding dress, landed gracefully, and lavender psychic energy slowly spread.
Soon, the target item was found.
A green and black dragon scale flew from beneath the Garchomp King's skeleton to John's hand, controlled by Psychic.
John immediately activated his Gameboy to check its properties.
[Dragon King's Scale: Dragon-type move power increased by 100%, Ground-type move power increased by 50%, Flying-type move power increased by 50%, weather control ability enhanced by 50%. When using the move Outrage, no longer enters "Confusion" status.]
"This should be the Garchomp King's divine treasure," John guessed.
However, John was somewhat surprised by the treasure's attributes.
He could understand the power increases for Dragon and Ground moves, but couldn't understand the Flying-type move boost and weather control enhancement.
Combined with the Sky Dragon Fang that he currently possessed, John couldn't help but theorize.
'Is it possible that the former Garchomp King was also skilled in weather control and Flying-type moves?'
After accepting the Dragon King's Scale, John was about to return and wait for his Mega Garchomp's training to complete when he suddenly heard slight shaking beneath the Dragon King skeleton's soil. This was because Gardevoir was still using Psychic to dig out items.
Soon, a strange artifact was dug from the soil beneath the Dragon King's skeleton.
It had a pink main body with two wings fitting together above and below, a flute!
[The Sky Melodica:All stats of attached Flying-type Pokemon increased by 25%. When played, the next Flying-type move's damage increased by 50%. If used to play a special melody, may summon a terrifying existence.]
"This thing..." John felt a familiar sensation.
This was obviously the same type of artifact as the Rock Horn he'd gotten in the Onix Graveyard and the Grass Cornet from Mew's sanctuary.
Sure enough, the attribute description was exactly the same as Rock Horn and Grass Horn.
Like them, playing a certain melody could summon a terrifying presence. There were many god-level powerhouses among Flying Pokemon. John wasn't sure what it could summon.
"Anything else?"
Compared to the Garchomp throne and Dragon King's Scale, thisTheSky Melodica might be his trip's greatest reward.
There was no doubt about the TheSky Melodica's attributes, and he had many Flying-type Pokemon. Its appearance could be said to have greatly improved his strength.
As for the Dragon King's Scale, John decided to use it as one of the base materials for Garchomp to create his own shrine.
As for other materials, it would depend on whether other legendary Pokemon could provide them.
Luckily, although his Garchomp wasn't specifically trained in weather control, combined with Tyranitar's Sandstorm, the two could form the core of a Sandstorm team.
