John and Mega Gardevoir teleported into Sea Mauville's laboratory, the same place where Lovrina had been at the beginning.
Under her hypnotized guidance, they quickly found the Purify Chamber.
It was a container filled with a liquid as white and pure as light itself.
"Put Dark Lugia in," the hypnotized Lovrina instructed, leading the purification process.
John took out the Pokeball containing Shadow Lugia, and Mega Gardevoir used Teleport to open it above the chamber.
Still unconscious from the battle, Lugia fell into the liquid, and John immediately heard a sound like scorched iron being doused with cold water.

Fortunately, Lugia wasn't conscious right now. Otherwise, the darkness purification process, which penetrated almost to the bone marrow, would have been agonizing.
"The Purify process takes two hours," Lovrina said in her monotone, hypnotized voice.
John nodded slightly and looked around the laboratory, noticing there were several other Purify Chambers.
"Purify that Dragonite and Malamar too."

Shadow Lugia, when you arrived, was undergoing the final step of transformation to become an ultimate Shadow Pokemon that cannot be purified," Lovrina explained with blank eyes.
"That's quite a coincidence." John nodded, it seemed he was lucky and had arrived just in time.
Being able to capture a Lugia was already a pleasant surprise. It didn't matter much about the Shadow Dragonite and Shadow Malamar.
"What about those Shadow Pokemon outside? Are they already ultimate Shadow Pokemon too?"
"Of course not. They don't deserve to be called Shadow Pokemon," Lovrina replied. Even while hypnotized, she still maintained her scientific arrogance.
"Then purify them all," John ordered.
"Yes." Lovrina immediately started operating the computer.
Immediately, with Sea Mauville as the center, the white light-like liquid spread through the air like mist.
Within a thousand-kilometer radius, whenever the Shadow Pokemon came into contact with this white purification mist, they immediately trembled and howled in pain.
The waters around Sea Mauville filled with the cries of Pokemon.
But it didn't last long.
As common Pokemon, they hadn't been transformed into ultimate Shadow Pokemon and didn't contain much dark power, so they could be purified very quickly.
They fled after regaining consciousness.

Dark Lugia's purification was complete.

When he raised its level up, he could completely sweep a champion with just this one Pokemon!
John pocketed Lugia with satisfaction. He'd take it to the Pokemon Center for treatment later, and then experience the feeling of riding Lugia across the sky.
"Take Lovrina. Let's leave here first," John said to Mega Gardevoir.
His other Pokemon had already been recalled to their Pokeballs.
The question now was, how would he complete the dungeon?

If the dungeon failed by leaving directly, John didn't mind playing through Sea Mauville again. It had been quite profitable.
