Chapter 19: Lin Feng’s Night Raid on Fugen Tavern, the Start of the Conflict

This faction doesn't have a specific name; it mainly consists of remnants left after Silco's death.

Jinx is known throughout Zaun as Silco's adopted daughter, so it was natural for her to take up Silco's mantle.

In other words, within Zaun, Jinx represents the faction that supports Shimmer.

They produce, manufacture, and sell Shimmer. While Jinx is still involved in the Shimmer trade, she doesn't seem very interested in it personally.

Her subordinates are fully responsible for the details surrounding Shimmer production.

Due to this, Shimmer has not developed as rapidly as it did during Silco's time, currently stagnating.

This situation has led to the rise of a new, more radical force within Zaun.

During the era of Silco and Vander, several influential figures in Zaun had allied to push Shimmer's development, aiming to make its influence felt across the entire continent of Valoran.

Today's Zaun is divided among two main and one smaller faction.

According to the map Heimerdinger provided, the Fugen Tavern has become Jinx's main base.

Aside from this place, there is also an abandoned arcade that's part of her territory.

After discussing it with Caitlyn, Lin Feng decided they would visit Fugen Tavern the next day.

Even in Zaun, which never sees the sun, there's a distinction between 'day' and 'night.'

During the day, Zaun is alive with vibrant lights and bustling crowds, but as night falls, the streets turn deathly silent, as if something ominous is prowling.

Operating under such conditions was not ideal, and both Lin Feng and Caitlyn needed rest after a long day, if only for a few hours of sleep.

Lin Feng booked two rooms at a local inn, using copper coins for discretion.

In Zaun, money can get you almost anything—except law enforcement privileges.

To avoid drawing attention, Caitlyn donned a gray, hooded cloak that concealed her Enforcer uniform.

With the cloak on, she blended seamlessly into Zaun's shadows.

The rooms were just big enough for one person to sleep in, costing 100 copper coins each, but at least they provided relative safety.

Lin Feng took his room and went straight to bed.

The next morning, Lin Feng and Caitlyn were up early, merging with the crowd at the marketplace before most Zaunites had risen.

The location of Fugen Tavern was widely known among locals, and Caitlyn had been there before.

After grabbing a quick breakfast, they set off for the tavern, with Caitlyn removing her cloak to reveal her Enforcer attire.

In the lower districts, an Enforcer uniform acts as a perfect pass, making everyone instinctively clear the way—as if dodging a dangerous predator.

Lin Feng felt numb to this reaction; he had already resigned himself to the animosity here.

Within twenty to thirty minutes, they arrived at Fugen Tavern.

Upon seeing it from a distance, Lin Feng suddenly paused.

"Caitlyn."

"What is it?" Caitlyn stopped as well.

Lin Feng's expression grew serious as he stared at the tavern.

"If anything happens, stay behind me."

Without waiting for Caitlyn's response, Lin Feng stepped forward toward the tavern.

He had a feeling things wouldn't go smoothly today, but he was determined to fulfill the promise he'd made to Heimerdinger.

Even though it was technically still 'morning,' the tavern was already packed.

Here, Caitlyn's Enforcer uniform lost its usual power.

Instead of clearing a path, the sight of Lin Feng and Caitlyn drew hostile glares, and a group of burly men quickly blocked the entrance, looking ready for trouble.

"You're not welcome here."

Caitlyn, who was over 170 cm tall, and Lin Feng, who was nearly 180 cm, both had to look up at these men, who towered over them at nearly two meters, their muscular builds almost absurd.

Lin Feng wondered what they ate to grow like this.

Just as Caitlyn was about to speak, Lin Feng beat her to it.

"Step aside." His tone was as cold as theirs.

The men had been focused on Caitlyn but were taken aback when this scruffy-looking man addressed them first.

"Hmph, and who do you think you are?" one of the men sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.

Without a word, Lin Feng's hand shot out, and a cold, blue glow enveloped his fingers as he grabbed the man by the throat.

The onlookers barely registered the motion before Lin Feng lifted the man—a good head taller than himself—into the air with one hand.

The man clutched at Lin Feng's wrist, struggling to break free, but to no avail.

In an instant, the other men pulled out their weapons, some brandishing knives, others pointing firearms.

Caitlyn hadn't expected this escalation, but she reacted immediately, raising her rifle to cover Lin Feng.

"And who are you to question me?" Lin Feng tightened his grip, causing the man's face to redden in pain.

Everyone in the tavern froze, even those seated inside, all poised for violence.

"Do you think you can afford to start a war between the two cities?" Lin Feng's words hung heavy in the air.

Everyone hesitated. No one wanted to initiate a conflict of such magnitude without their boss's orders.

"Hmph." Lin Feng sneered. "You really think you can take me on?"

With that, he released his grip, tossing the man to the ground.

The man landed with a thud, coughing and clutching his reddened neck, clearly in pain.

The patrons of Fugen Tavern had never seen someone this brazen.

The power, confidence, and use of Hextech, along with the ease with which he subdued the bouncer, made everyone wonder if he was a big shot from Piltover.

An aura of mystery and intimidation surrounded Lin Feng, making everyone cautious.

"Now, I'm here to talk, not to fight," Lin Feng said icily. "So, are you going to let me in?"

"Enough!" A commanding, masculine voice rang out from inside the tavern.

"Let them in!"
