"You guy, you aren't still harbor designs on Earth, are you?" Shin asked, nearly laughing out of frustration.
"Earth is the best choice right now!"
"Sorry, I have no intention of sacrificing Earth for the sake of the universe." Shin shook his head.
"I do have another option, though. What do you think about... a completely living planet?"
A living planet? Hearing this, Galactus truly became interested.
Although Galactus seemingly devours a planet's core, he actually devours the planet's life force rather than just an ordinary planet. Otherwise, there are plenty of uninhabited and lifeless planets in the universe; he wouldn't need to insist on clashing with those that have life.
The more abundant a planet's life force, the more likely it is to give birth to more life. If an entire planet is alive, its life force might not necessarily be much worse than that of Earth, the Heart of the Universe.
Furthermore, there are simply too many monsters, demons, and Superheroes on Earth! As the center of the universe and the heart of eternity, who knows how many Dimensional Demon Gods, cosmic deities, or even higher-level powerhouses have placed their chess pieces there? If he just went there like that, it would be very easy for him to get his head bashed in again!
Other planets would be much easier to deal with, especially a living planet like this. There are likely no civilizations or races on it, so it would have to rely solely on its own combat power.
Perhaps a planet's combat power is incredibly strong in the eyes of ordinary people. But in reality, as the name Planet Devourer makes clear, this guy definitely has a special advantage against planets!
Devouring planets is the duty given to Galactus by the universe. Which planet could resist Galactus relying solely on its own strength?
"A completely living planet? Do you know where it is? If such a planet really exists, it could indeed fully restore my power!"
Galactus's eyes lit up as he asked.
Shin had actually asked Heimdall about the location of Ego the Living Planet. Although Ego had scrambled far away after the Zerg appeared, he was still a very large target.
Heimdall's gaze might not be as clear once it exceeded the range of the Nine Realms, but he could still see a planet with a human face, and it had left a deep impression on him.
With the coordinates and the space stone, the famished Galactus immediately set off with his daughter and subordinates.
Fearing that he might fail again in his current poor state, he used the excuse of needing a guide to have Shin come along—anyway, if he fell into a disadvantage once they reached that place, Shin would certainly have to step in... During this time, Ego the Living Planet's life hadn't been very pleasant, as he had been in a constant state of anxiety.
As a living planet that had lived for billions of years, Ego didn't know what he actually was. In the original story, he once told his son Star-Lord that he was a Celestial, or even that he had the brain of a Celestial and finally formed a planet by absorbing matter from the universe.
In fact, that was all nonsense. There are three types of Celestials in the universe, but he had nothing to do with any of them.
One type is the so-called Elders of the Universe who have lived for a long time. Because they obtained primordial Cosmic Energy, they are immortal. For example, The Collector and the Grandmaster belong to this category. Since they were originally ordinary lifeforms, these guys who have lived too long might have once been people of great talent and vision, but now they are basically just eccentric fools.
The forms of these people are similar to ordinary humans. How long would it take for such a brain to accumulate enough mass to become a planet? And how could there be energy capable of animating an entire planet?
Another type is the Celestials group. That's even more impossible. As everyone knows, the Celestials are all giant, robot-like beings hundreds or thousands of feet tall. Where would they have something like a brain?
The last type is the several great conceptual gods of the universe, which is naturally even more impossible.
But regardless, this didn't stop Ego from claiming to be a Celestial. He also had a grand goal: to rule the entire universe.
Although no one could figure out how a planet could rule the universe, or what the point of ruling the universe would be... anyway, Ego made many preparations for this, such as dividing his life energy into various seeds and then quietly planting them on other planets.
As long as he had enough energy, he could trigger these seeds to sprout all at once. Then he could permeate his energy into other planets and completely absorb that energy back into himself.
When that time came, he might even grow arms and legs and no longer be a round Celestial that was just a head!
Ego's grand plan proceeded very smoothly at first. Now, many planets throughout the universe had been parasitized by his energy seeds. However, during the sprouting phase, this self-proclaimed Celestial encountered a major problem.
Well, it was a very simple matter: he just didn't have enough energy.
Ego wasn't a fool. He knew very well that as soon as he triggered these energy seeds, it would be equivalent to setting himself against the entire universe. Who knows how many people would come to cause him trouble then? Although his combat power was much stronger than an average planetary-class warship, if twenty or thirty large planetary-class warships came, they could still smash him to pieces.
The only way was to use the energy from the sprouting to trigger a true evolution in one go. Unfortunately, this guy was now stuck in this awkward middle ground, and he had been stuck for who knows how many years.
To this end, he created the second step of his plan to seed the entire universe: using his energy to create biological bodies, he continuously raised sons, hoping to use them to help share that incredibly massive energy.
In the original movie, he eventually found Star-Lord. However, when he was close to succeeding, he spoke without thinking and revealed that he had killed Star-Lord's mother. He was immediately met with a counterattack from the Dance King, and the entire planet was blown to bits. He was full of ambition but ultimately useless, leaving no impact on the universe.
However, the Living Planet in the comics is much more formidable. Moreover, unlike the movie version where he is Star-Lord's father, this Living Planet even shares the same hobby as Galactus: absorbing other planets.
Fortunately, Shin had already received intelligence. This current Ego was the movie version, not the comic version. He claimed to be a Celestial rather than a true living planet, and he couldn't perform warp flight.
