Neonidas decided to visit Velriona the next day. He hadn't seen much of her since the day he and his fiancée, Allea, had spoken about everything. According to the servants, she had barely been eating. Without wasting any time, Neonidas took a tray filled with food and knocked on her door. A faint "come" came from inside.
As he pushed the door open and stepped inside, he noticed the dim light draping the room like a thin veil. The velvet curtains were drawn, and the air carried a faint scent of lavender and old books. Velriona was seated on a long couch by the window, wrapped in a light blanket. Her face was paler than usual, with deep traces of exhaustion under her eyes. She looked ill.
Neonidas approached her with slow, deliberate steps. He stopped just a few feet away, his gaze lingering on her empty, distant stare.
"Velriona," he called softly, his voice unusually gentle. "The servants said you haven't been eating. Is that true?"
