The king then turned to Cedric, who had been silently observing. "What do you think? Can you do that?"
"Your Majesty…" Cedric began, hesitating as he stepped away from his position beside the throne.
His staff in hand, silver hair swept back, Cedric eyed the man who had been rambling in front of the king before turning his focus to the matter at hand.
"It's dangerous," he stated firmly.
"So, you can't do it?" Alaric questioned, raising an arched brow.
"No, Your Majesty. I can do it. But we need to consider the bigger picture behind the schemes this man has proposed."
Alaric's gaze flickered between the man and Cedric before settling on the latter. "Go on."
"As you know, the portal is being closely monitored by witches from the mortal realm. If I channel its power to redirect him to a dungeon, they'll sense it. When they trace it back, they'll see that it's you, and that could make them suspect the vampire king is planning something," Cedric explained.
