Chapter 50 - Chapter 49 - I'm Fucked!!

Miruko leaped backward, utterly dumbfounded, as she glared at the scene unfolding before her eyes. She glanced at Mr. 0, sand particles swirling ominously around the space where his head should have been.

"Didn't I just kill him?" she hissed, sweat sliding down her brow.

Mirko, the other heroes, and the police officers watched, stunned, as the sand finally coalesced, and Mr. 0's head reformed perfectly. "Man, I didn't think I'd survive that if it weren't for my quirk." Yuta, no—Mr. 0, smirked as he observed the horrified expressions on their faces. "Or wait! Did you really think I would be defeated by such a weak attack from a mere woman?" Mr. 0 taunted Mirko and the assembled heroes, his voice dripping with condescension from beneath his shifting sand mask.

Mirko finally regained her composure, her voice a low, dangerous growl. "Who the hell are you, and what is with that quirk of yours?"

"Isn't that a bit disrespectful? Demanding to know the nature of my quirk?" Mr. 0 sounded genuinely disappointed by the abrupt question. "I don't particularly want to hurt anyone, so why don't you simply let me leave in one piece?"

Mirko clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. "Let you leave after you brutally wounded Fat Gum? What do you take me for, you vigilante?" She shifted her weight, preparing to attack once again.

Mr. 0 scratched the back of his head with a feigned casualness. "A cute little rabbit who should stay home and let her owner feed her carrots," he said mockingly. "But right now, you're being a very, very bad little rabbit, so I'll have to school you a bit and make sure you stay put next time." Mr. 0 laughed, deliberately projecting an unfazed appearance while he was barely holding himself together, his ribs screaming in agony.

Bang! Bang!

"Villain!!!" The officers opened fire, but the bullets phased through Yuta's sandy form before his body seamlessly reconnected.

"That trick won't save you this time!" Mirko roared, leaping forward with such immense force that the ground beneath her feet cratered. A wide, exhilarated grin spread across her face; she was undoubtedly enjoying the clash with someone the hero community had deemed a notorious villain—or vigilante.

This vigilante was currently the highlight of the criminal world, with rumors circulating about his defeat of the hero Fat Gum and the Hero Killer, Stain. He had even engaged in a battle with Tomura Shigaraki, a global threat whose singular goal was to kill All Might, Japan's number one hero.

From beneath his solidified sand mask, Yuta glanced at the incoming attack. 'Shit! Shit! Shit! Just how desperate is this fighting maniac to defeat me?!' He gritted his teeth, knowing he would not be able to escape this situation alive unless he defeated Mirko, the real threat, and fled immediately.

His broken ribs, which were still in the process of healing, had made his movements sluggish, the immense pain a constant reminder that he was pushing his absolute limit. Still, he forced himself onward, searching for any opportunity to extricate himself from this mess.

Focusing all his remaining energy, he allowed his body to flare into sand particles just as Mirko's leg made contact. Now, Mirko was no longer holding back; she was more desperate to kill the vigilante than to arrest him.

She charged again at blinding speed, but the same outcome repeated itself: upon contact, Mr. 0's body dissolved into sand. The devastating impact of her kicks shattered the nearby building, forcing the cops to skid backward. The other heroes could do nothing, unable to even get closer to the duel, knowing they would only become a nuisance to Mirko—or get themselves killed.

'He's definitely not attacking like before. Wait… don't tell me he's at his limit? All he can do is defend himself.' A predatory smile crept onto Mirko's face. Not wasting a second, she charged forward again, attacking with relentless speed and not allowing Mr. 0 a moment of respite.

Tsk!

Mr. 0 realized with dawning horror that she was now faster, her attacks growing more devastating with each strike. He dissolved into a cloud of sand, reappeared atop a distant building, and crouched down, gasping for air; he could barely use his quirk any further.

Mirko leaped after him, striking the rooftop where he had landed with a powerful kick. He leaped away just in time as the entire structure crumbled instantly, a thick cloud of smoke billowing out and blinding everyone momentarily.

Yuta coughed violently, using his hand to cover his mouth, only to pull it back and see it was covered in blood. He knew that if this continued for another minute, he would be killed for sure.

"Thanks to this smokescreen, I'll take this chance to escape while I can," he hummed to himself, turning to flee—until Mirko's voice cut through the smoke.

"Don't think you can run from me!" She leaped through the obscuring cloud, her rabbit-like instincts top-notch, allowing her to pinpoint her prey's location by sound and scent.

"Fuck!"

Yuta bit his lip in anger and frustration before encasing himself in a massive, hardened sandball. "Just buy me a few seconds to recover my breath!" he winced, leaning against the interior wall of his sandy refuge.

Mirko saw the enormous sandball and a smirk played on her lips. "Don't think this will save you!" She began punching it relentlessly, but her smirk faded into a hiss of frustration as it refused to budge.

After a precious minute of catching his breath inside the sandball, Yuta was ready to run again. He snapped his fingers, and the sphere morphed into a huge, solidified spike.

The Rabbit Hero Mirko punched the spike until it shattered, her eyes instantly catching a glimpse of her prey fleeing. "What's wrong, huh? Too scared?" she taunted.

She launched herself forward, but this time Yuta was ready. He coated his hands with solidified sand armament and struck her squarely in the face, sending her crashing through the wall of a nearby two-story building.

He flicked his wrist, and sand swirled beside him until a perfect duplicate of Mr. 0 was formed.

"Two versus one, huh?" Mirko spat, wiping blood from her mouth.

Mr. 0 remained silent as he and his clone launched a synchronized assault. Blood streamed down Mirko's face, her body a canvas of bruises and wounds from the prolonged battle.

Mr. 0 swung his arm vertically, sending a long, sharp sand blade slicing toward her. Mirko crouched low, dodging it, only for another spike to sprout from the ground, grazing her arm as she barely moved away in time.

She knew she had to focus on the real Mr. 0 rather than the troublesome clone. Yet, every time she tried to attack the main body, the clone moved with surprising speed to parry her blows.

She skidded backward, panting for air, as she watched the two sand men charging toward her.

Bang! Bang!

One of the officers fired at Mr. 0 and his clone, the distraction buying Mirko a few precious seconds to regain her composure.

Then… the officer's head fell to the floor; the clone had killed him without a second thought.

"You fucker!!!! I'll kill you!!!" Mirko raged, veins bulging on her forehead at the sight of the slain officer. Yuta felt no remorse; that could have been him if not for his quirk saving him from the hero's kick earlier.

"He deserved it!" Yuta growled under his mask, his heart beating so profusely it felt like his chest might explode. Yet, he pushed himself further, going Plus Ultra to save his own life.

The ground shattered under Mirko's feet. With a decisive kick, the nearby cars were blown away by the gust of wind from the impact. She launched herself at the clone, obliterating it instantly, then pivoted toward the main body, delivering another decisive kick that was blocked by a huge sand pillar erupting from the ground.

The sand pillar changed shape in a flash, quickly binding her limbs. Seizing the opportunity, Yuta struck her abdomen with his coated fist. Blood sprouted from her mouth as her vision began to fade. She struggled against the sand binds, but they were as hard as iron.

Yuta did not want to kill her, only to incapacitate her enough to escape. His fist morphed into a rapid-fire gatling gun of sand, striking her body repeatedly as blood splattered across the area. He heard the faint, sickening sound of her bones cracking until he finally delivered the last punch, sending her crashing unconscious through several buildings.

"Mission completed." His mask dissolved and instantly reformed, preserving his anonymity before he could return to his home or hideout.

The remaining heroes watched the terrible scene unfold, their willpower broken, legs trembling with fear and despair at the sheer power required to defeat another top-ten hero.

"He's a monster!" they could only stammer, their bodies frozen in place—a weakness Yuta immediately recognized. He knew if he did nothing, they might recover and call for backup, which he could not allow.

He snapped his fingers, using the last of his energy to summon waves of sand that knocked the heroes and cops unconscious before he himself crashed to his knees. His vision blurred, his muscles screamed, and his voice began to fail him. Adrenaline surged through his veins, and he decided to bear the excruciating pain and escape while he still could.

"You're cooked," a deep, authoritative voice rang out. "I'll applaud you for your strength, but… this is the end for you!"

Yuta tilted his head up and saw a familiar, flaming figure. "Endeavor!!"
