China, Beijing
Here, red lanterns symbolizing joy hung everywhere, and the festive atmosphere of the New Year spread around everyone.
"Last place..."
Hakuto stood atop the Zhongxin Building, looking down at the entire city of Beijing! No ability user could escape his gaze.
"Last batch..."
In the past two years, Hakuto didn't know how many times he fought with Otosaka Yuu, nor did he know how many people he saved under Otosaka Yuu's hands.
Otosaka Yuu was truly a madman, a lunatic!
At least, that's how he was now...
Without Hakuto, Otosaka Yuu would probably have already started conquering the world by now, becoming a god...
It was estimated that there were only about two days left before it all ended...
Hakuto's figure appeared on the crowded street. New Year was coming, and people were out shopping for new items for their homes.
Hakuto smiled, feeling that he was about to fulfill the promise he had made.
But just as he was about to continue, his heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and the chaotic crowd before his eyes twisted continuously, like abstract art.
Hakuto immediately fell to his knees, pressing his hands to his eyes. His long bangs fell through his fingers, hiding his face from view.
He struggled to stand, weaving through the confused crowd.
"What are you doing?"
"Watch where you're going!"
"Don't you know how to say sorry when you bump into someone?!"
In his current state, Hakuto couldn't avoid bumping into people on the crowded street.
Maybe it was because of his strange condition, or maybe because it was the New Year and people didn't want to attract bad luck, but all they did was curse at him a little.
Hakuto didn't even have the strength to apologize. He struggled to straighten himself, as if something was trying to break free from his body.
Instinctively, Hakuto reached for his backpack, but this time, the comforting feeling he was used to didn't come.
He removed his hand, and his black eyes glinted under the surrounding light.
He tried to look at the world before him as he usually did: the pedestrians on the street, the signs of the shops by the roadside—everything was clear.
But as his body changed, his vision slowly became blurry.
In that moment, it felt like a thick darkness surged up from the depths of his eyes, as if someone was slowly draining all the vibrant colors, leaving everything dim and dull.
Hakuto blinked instinctively, hoping to see better, but the darkness, like a greedy beast, rapidly consumed the last bit of light, and the scene before his eyes twisted and dissipated, until he was fully engulfed in a pitch-black silence.
He stretched his hand out in panic, but touched nothing.
His face was filled with terror and confusion, and in this short moment, the world that had once been so familiar turned into an endless abyss of darkness.
At the same time, Hakuto, with the last bit of strength he had left, stumbled into an isolated suburban area.
The next second, he collapsed onto the ground, like a broken kite, struggling as he fell.
The New Year's festive atmosphere still lingered in the air, but no one noticed a stranger lying in the outskirts.
...
When Hakuto woke up again, the surrounding air smelled of moisture and earth.
No... It wasn't really waking up, because in front of him, there was nothing—only thick darkness.
Hakuto struggled to sit up and touched in front of him, finding there was nothing blocking his sight...
"How long have I... been asleep..."
Suddenly turning from a normal person into a blind man, anyone would probably be at a loss, but Hakuto didn't seem to react that way, or rather, it seemed like he had already anticipated this day.
"I can't see..."
The phrase "can't see" had never applied to Hakuto before.
No matter how dark the place, as long as he entered that special state, everything before him would become bright.
Hakuto sat on the ground, his pupils without light, looking at his own hands.
The next second, veins bulged on his face, as if he wanted to enter that strange state again.
However, this time, he didn't succeed...
"How did I do it before...?" Hakuto asked himself. "And why am I here..."
Hakuto struggled to stand up, but after only a few steps, the pain in his body caused him to stagger, and he once again collapsed to the ground.
Because he was on muddy ground, Hakuto only got some dust on his clothes, but even that was something he hadn't experienced in a long time.
"It hurts so much, I can't stand up..."
Hakuto tried to stand again, but the intense pain in his body made each step feel like unbearable agony.
Fortunately, after some time, he would be able to endure it.
Although Hakuto had lost his sight, he didn't seem to be restricted in his actions like a normal blind person.
He should be blind, but it wasn't in the truest sense... because he still had many things that could serve as his eyes.
But in a way, he was blind, because he didn't even know what he was supposed to do now. He didn't even know his own name...
Hakuto touched around his eyes, and since he couldn't see, he had no idea what he looked like now.
But he probably looked quite despondent, since, after all, he was a blind person now...
Suddenly, Hakuto remembered that in his impression, blind people usually had to wear something black to cover their eyes.
Before long, a black cloth wrapped around his eyes, made of silk, ensuring it wouldn't harm his eyes.
After doing this, Hakuto fell into confusion again, because he no longer had anything to do...
Thus, Hakuto sat on a bench in the outskirts of Beijing for a long time.
He sat from morning until evening, countless people passing by in front of him.
Hakuto had no idea what those people looked like, he would probably have to feel them with his hands to find out.
"By the way, my bag..."
Hakuto touched the backpack he carried with him.
The portable music player, drained of battery, emitted only a static sound when turned on—no other sound.
A worn-out folding fan, when opened, had some black ink writing on the front, but Hakuto had no idea what it said.
It wasn't because his vision was blocked, but because the folding fan was too tattered.
A golden hairpin, which felt like pure gold when touched... Strange, was I really this wealthy...
The only other items were a bank card, a broken phone, and an empty medication bottle.
Thinking about it, Hakuto used the hairpin to tie his hair up. It must be something important since it was carried with him.
"I must be an orphan, right... Where should I go..."
Hakuto wasn't sure if he was really blind. He could still tell what the advertisement signs in the distance said.
"This doesn't make sense..." Hakuto muttered.
If it weren't for the complete darkness in front of him, even with the cloth covering his eyes, he would have believed he was still a normal person.

Title: Blind, Ability Gone, Complete Amnesia
YEAH IT DOESN'T FUCKING MAKE SENSE!
YOU SAID YOUR BODY ADAPTED TO IT!
Honestly I can somewhat understand when Yuu lost his memories since he is holding tens of thousands if not thousands of ability on his single mind.
Even then he didn't go blind ffs.
Why is this happening??
To set up a completely forced sad ending or what?!?!?!
Sorry for ranting here.. Sigh..
Next chapter is the finale btw.
