Chapter 508: Tang Xinlian's Outburst
Silence!
Above the vast plaza, every expert stared at the scene unfolding before them with undisguised horror.
Faced with such an astonishing turn of events, even the formidable cultivators from the Chaotic Demon Sea couldn't help but tremble in shock.
Wasn't that figure the Devouring Emperor? How could he be devouring human flesh and blood?!
No matter how one looked at it, such grotesque behavior did not match the legendary figure they revered—the Devouring Emperor.
"Hahahaha!"
Facing countless shocked gazes, the Heaven Chief of Yuan Gate burst into wild laughter. His aged face distorted into a hideous and fearsome expression.
"What exactly have you bastards from Yuan Gate done?!"
Finally, a furious roar exploded from among the cultivators. Clearly, it was the actions of these Yuan Gate chiefs that had caused the corpse of the Devouring Emperor to begin consuming flesh and blood.
The Heaven Chief displayed a sinister smile, slowly saying, "What have we done? I'm merely helping you all revive your precious 'Devouring Emperor.'"
"Revive the Devouring Emperor?" the experts muttered incredulously. Could it be that the Devouring Emperor wasn't actually dead?
"That's not the Devouring Emperor!"
Just as confusion spread among the crowd, a cold and clear voice rang out. Tang Xinlian stepped forward, her beautiful face turning cold as ice, her eyes locked sharply onto the figure resembling the Devouring Emperor.
While others might be uncertain, she clearly sensed that although the figure looked exactly like the Devouring Emperor, it was definitely not him!
"Oh? If he isn't the Devouring Emperor, then who is he?" The Heaven Chief mocked with a strange smile.
Tang Xinlian's expression darkened further as she glared icily at the Heaven Chief. Enunciating each word carefully, she declared, "Yuan Gate... So you've already been infiltrated by the Yimo. You've traveled thousands of miles from the Eastern Xuan Region all the way to the Chaotic Demon Sea, specifically to resurrect this King-level Yimo, haven't you?"
"King-level Yimo?!"
Upon hearing those words, many present exchanged alarmed glances. The first Great War had taken place thousands of years ago, and few living today understood much about the Yimo.
However, Ao Xuan and other experts from major factions visibly paled. If their memories served correctly, the Yimo were sworn enemies of all life on the Tianxuan Continent, and a King-level Yimo was comparable to a genuine Reincarnation stage expert!
The Heaven Chief was slightly taken aback, but soon clapped his hands, laughing cheerfully. "As expected of the famous Fire Fairy of the Chaotic Demon Sea! To think you've actually figured it out."
Facing a crime that would brand him and the entire Yuan Gate as traitors to humanity, the Heaven Chief simply acknowledged it without hesitation.
"You Yuan Gate scum! You're courting death!" a Profound Death stage cultivator who clearly understood what the Yimo represented shouted furiously.
"Damn it, the moment news of this spreads, neither you nor your Yuan Gate will escape obliteration!"
The Heaven Chief chuckled lightly. "Well, that's if any of you can send that news out."
The cultivators immediately realized the threat, hurriedly pulling out various communication treasures, crushing them to send urgent messages back to their respective factions.
Yet, their expressions changed dramatically the instant they shattered the communication devices. They discovered with horror that the transmitted messages vanished instantly, unable to penetrate the surrounding space.
Looking upwards, they noticed, to their dismay, a thin layer of black membrane had quietly appeared above the Devouring World, sealing it off entirely.
Though seemingly fragile, this black barrier exuded an intensely evil aura, potent enough that even peak Profound Death experts found it impossible to break. Moreover, it continuously absorbed Yuan Power from the surrounding space.
Facing such an ominous development, even the seasoned Chaotic Demon Sea cultivators grew increasingly restless.
"Everyone attack together! Kill these bastards!"
Yet these experts were hardly ordinary. Recognizing the threat immediately, dozens of Profound Death stage cultivators exploded into action, launching themselves directly toward the Yuan Gate trio.
They understood clearly: the culprits behind this were the Yuan Gate traitors. Only by eliminating them could the threat be neutralized.
Under such overwhelming force—including even a peak Profound Death expert—even the Yuan Gate trio would be gravely wounded.
However, much to everyone's astonishment, the three chiefs merely smiled disdainfully, not even shifting their stances.
"Watch out!"
Lin Langtian's eyes narrowed sharply, sensing an imminent threat and quickly shouting a warning.
But it was too late.
Just as his words echoed, dozens of shadows approached the Yuan Gate trio. At that exact moment, the figure resembling the Devouring Emperor, who had absorbed the flesh and blood earlier, slightly opened his previously shut eyes.
His fingers subtly twitched, releasing a flash of extremely evil black light that swiftly blended into the void.
Buzz!
Space shattered as thick, malevolent black mist burst forth, rapidly forming into a massive demonic mouth filled with terrifyingly sharp fangs.
Ignoring all distance, this monstrous mouth instantly enveloped the dozens of cultivators who'd rushed forward.
Crunch!
The gigantic demonic maw closed sharply, blood and flesh erupting violently as a sickening crunch echoed through the plaza.
Before they could even scream, dozens of Profound Death cultivators perished instantly, their physical bodies and Yuan Spirits utterly obliterated.
Only the peak Profound Death expert managed to barely react. In desperation, he blew apart his own arm, casting the bloody remains into the monstrous mouth as he swiftly retreated in miserable defeat.
Crack! Crunch!
Within mere moments, dozens of Profound Death experts had been annihilated. The horrific mouth slowly closed, reappearing quietly behind the Devouring Emperor-like figure. It opened again, releasing a torrent of blood and flesh, which the figure eagerly consumed.
As it devoured the flesh and blood, the figure gradually became softer, faint signs of life slowly reappearing in its body.
Clearly, it was gradually reviving!
"Why struggle futilely? From the moment you entered here, your fate as food for His Majesty was sealed," sneered the Heaven Chief mockingly, casting a cold glance towards Lin Langtian and the terrified crowd.
Tang Xinlian's beautiful face became incredibly solemn. Gazing at the ominous figure, she whispered, "So that's the King-level Yimo who perished along with the Devouring Emperor?"
As she spoke, cold killing intent surged in her eyes. Her hatred for Yimo ran deep.
"Xinlian, the situation is beyond our expectations. Shouldn't we retreat first?" the middle-aged Flame God Temple elder standing behind her asked worriedly.
They had been sent here by Temple Master Moro to eliminate this King-level Yimo. But now that Yuan Gate had partially revived it, the danger had greatly escalated, surpassing their initial estimations.
Tang Xinlian hesitated only briefly before firmly shaking her head. "No! If this King-level Yimo is fully revived, he'll threaten all of humanity. Even for Master's sake, I cannot disappoint him!"
Whoosh!
Before anyone could react, Tang Xinlian burst forward with incredible speed, leaving a fiery trail as she charged directly toward the Yimo-infested figure.
"A futile struggle," the Heaven Chief mocked.
Buzz!
Space distorted once more, tearing open to reveal another monstrous maw aimed directly at Tang Xinlian. The simplicity of this attack concealed its overwhelming lethality—evidenced by the previous massacre.
Facing such an assault, Tang Xinlian's face hardened more seriously than ever. She stretched out her palm, and overwhelming flames erupted forth, distorting the space around her with intense heat.
Nearby, Lin Langtian stared intently at the flame blazing in Tang Xinlian's hand. Within its core, he noticed a familiar ancient rune—a symbol reminiscent of the Devouring Ancestral Symbol he himself wielded.
"This… is the Flame Ancestral Symbol?" Lin Langtian's brows lifted slightly.
Around him, frightened cultivators immediately recognized the legendary flame and erupted into cheers.
"The Flame Ancestral Symbol! Moro's Ancestral Flame!"
"The Fire Fairy actually brought the Flame Ancestral Symbol! We're saved!"
Indeed, the Eight Great Ancestral Symbols were natural counters to the Yimo. Flame God Temple must have anticipated this scenario and prepared accordingly.
Yet, amid their cheers, Lin Langtian realized something wasn't quite right. His expression changed subtly as he muttered quietly:
"No… that's not the true Flame Ancestral Symbol. It's just a rune infused with some original essence from the Flame Ancestral Symbol."
Though it bore a resemblance, Tang Xinlian's flame was far inferior to the genuine Ancestral Symbol. Only Lin Langtian, who personally possessed two ancestral symbols—the Devouring and Space Ancestral Symbols—could discern this subtle yet crucial difference.
Evidently, Moro had severed a portion of his Flame Ancestral Symbol, gifting it to Tang Xinlian specifically for this mission—to eradicate the King-level Yimo.
Lin Langtian frowned in concern. Though the Yimo wasn't fully revived yet, Tang Xinlian's rune wasn't truly complete. The outcome remained uncertain.
Boom!
At this moment, Tang Xinlian unleashed her flames directly into the monstrous mouth. Screeching in agony, the Yimo's dark power disintegrated rapidly beneath the terrifying heat.
Cheers resounded again, even Lin Langtian nodding in appreciation. The Flame Ancestral Symbol was indeed terrifying offensively.
Yet in response, a deafening, evil roar emanated from the reviving figure. Black fog surged upwards, forming a colossal thousand-foot demonic hand, more terrifying than the previous attack, hurtling down towards Tang Xinlian like an apocalyptic meteor.
Resolutely, Tang Xinlian summoned all her power, releasing a blazing inferno forming a majestic, thousand-foot fire phoenix above her.
Clearly, Tang Xinlian had fully activated the Flame Rune's true strength.
Their collision would determine the outcome of this deadly confrontation!
