Chen Ke didn't dare to take the elevator because he feared if he got inside, the whole car would suddenly lose power, trapping him inside this iron coffin. He circled the area and found a maintenance ladder that seemed to be an alternative route for maintenance staff outside of the regular elevator.
Chen Ke climbed up empty-handed, pushed open the orange cover above, and crawled into the pitch-black space. He pulled out the Moonlight Greatsword to light up the area, accidentally puncturing the glass cover beside him.
In the silent darkness, the sudden sound of shattering glass was starkly jarring. He carefully withdrew the sword, regretting not having brought a flashlight.
The cabin space was fairly large. Fire extinguishing equipment lined the walls beside him. Looking ahead, there were structures similar to hibernation pods on both sides, but only one pod still flickered with a green light in the dark.
