Chapter 8 - Shiny Beldum

Four days later, in the Gym of the southern city of Fairbay.

"Starly, Wing Attack!" Diego's roar echoed in the half-empty training field.

Starly neighed and then flapped its wings violently, creating a howling wind, and charged directly at Torchic on the ground at astonishing speed.

"Heat Wave," Bruce said calmly.

"Chirp!"

Hearing this, Torchic opened its mouth, exhaled a burst of hot breath, distorted the air, and the undulating Heat Wave quickly spread, rushing toward Starly!

"Get out of the way!" Seeing this, Diego shouted anxiously.

"Nervous!"

Starly flapped both wings, changed course, and flew upward, abruptly rising to avoid the Heat Wave.

But Bruce's offense did not stop.

He silently observed Starly's back and spoke softly: "Torchic, Ember."

Torchic opened its mouth, and in an instant, a burst of Ember enveloped in an astonishing temperature gathered and shot out toward Starly!

Boom!

The sound of the explosion echoed in the air, and black smoke spread in all directions.

"Starly!"

In the midst of Diego's roar, Starly fell directly from the black smoke to the ground, hitting the ground hard and falling unconscious.

"Torchic gains fifteen experience points."

"Torchic leveled up to level ten."

Two system notifications sounded one after the other in Bruce's mind, and he calmly walked over to Torchic.

"Chirp!"

Seeing the trainer approaching, Torchic smiled, quickly ran to Bruce's side, and rubbed its head against Bruce's right leg.

"Good job." Bruce squatted down, rubbed Torchic's head, and smiled gently.

Then he took a power cube from his pocket and gave it to Torchic.

After finishing everything, Bruce stood up again, turned, and looked at Diego, who was using a healing spray to treat Starly's wound. He said, "Keep it up, I hope you can beat me next time."

"I definitely will!" Diego heard this, looked closely at Bruce, and the fire in his eyes grew stronger.

Bruce chuckled, silently admiring Diego, who refused to admit defeat.

It is precisely because of Diego's stubborn and unyielding character that he challenged himself again and again, and Torchic gained considerable experience points.

With four days of serious training, Torchic finally went from level seven to level ten.

And level ten... means that Torchic has successfully reached the normal level!

"Of course, there are no border barriers."

When his assumption was confirmed, Bruce felt happy, and a slight smile appeared on his face.

"As long as you can keep gaining experience points, Torchic can improve its strength without obstacles."

This means that every one of Bruce's Pokémon can improve their strength at a greater speed and reach the top in the shortest possible time!

As these thoughts passed, Diego left the training field with Starly in his arms, and Bruce was about to continue training when suddenly there was applause in his ears.

Bruce looked up and saw William and an elderly man standing at the entrance.

The old man was a bit thin, and his white hair was neatly combed without any disorder. In his slightly sunken eye sockets, a pair of dark and deep eyes silently observed Bruce.

Seeing Bruce looking at him, the corners of the old man's mouth lifted slightly, his lips moved, and he made a complete voice: "Wonderful battle."

Bruce was slightly surprised, as countless memories of this old man flooded him.

This is the grandfather of the original owner, John Davison Bayne, a well-known psychic-type elite in Avalon.

In memory of the original owner, John Bayne has always been serious, treating members of his clan very harshly, and it is rare for him to show a smiling face.

Along with John Bayne's majesty, the original owner was always silent in front of him.

Additionally, John Bayne is busy with work during the weekdays, often traveling to various places in Avalon for tasks and spending relatively little time with Bruce.

John Bayne walked toward Bruce with firm steps, followed by William.

After a long while, John Bayne stood in front of Bruce, looking at him silently, then at Torchic on the ground, silent for a moment.

Torchic seemed to feel the indescribable pressure from John Bayne's body. It couldn't help but shrink its neck and leaned firmly against Bruce's thigh.

"Good."

After a while, John Bayne finally spoke.

"Train well, it is expected that you will be the next family elite." He seemed calm, and his tone was flat, as if he were speaking about a trivial matter.

Without waiting for Bruce to respond, John Bayne continued to ask, "I heard that now you don't resist becoming a trainer."

Hearing this, Bruce thought for a moment and then replied, "Perhaps becoming a Pokémon researcher and a trainer are not in conflict."

John Bayne hummed slightly and did not express any opinion. Instead, he took an ordinary Pokéball from his pocket and handed it to Bruce: "This is my graduation gift to you."

Bruce unconsciously looked at William and saw him nod slightly. Bruce reached out to take the Pokéball and simultaneously said, "Thank you."

Hearing this, a smile crossed John Bayne's face, but he still said sternly, "You don't have to thank me."

"I don't have much time and still have tasks to complete, so I will leave first."

After saying this, John Bayne looked deeply at Bruce and added, "Whether you become a Pokémon researcher or a trainer, you must work hard."

"I will," Bruce nodded.

"That's good." John Bayne nodded slightly, turned, and left.

"I'll escort you out, old man." William followed John Bayne.

After the two left the training field, John Bayne suddenly said, "This boy has really changed a lot."

"That is the charm of Pokémon," William laughed.

John Bayne made no comment, only looked at William and said, "Has your Alakazam already reached the master level?"

William coughed lightly, changed the subject, and said, "Old man, you should also pay attention to your tone in front of Bruce in the future, you are not in a subordinate relationship."

Hearing this, John Bayne was silent for a moment, then nodded.

"By the way, what is the mission this time? What happened?" William continued to ask.

...

In the training field,

After seeing the two leave, Bruce stared at the Pokéball in his palm.

"What kind of Pokémon could it be?"

Bruce murmured softly as he pressed the Pokéball's button.

When a red beam of light fell to the ground, a silver Pokémon with a strange shape appeared in front of Bruce's eyes.

It has a long torso with a crown on its head and a huge claw on its hip.

The Pokémon floated silently in front of Bruce, looking at him with large red eyes.
