Chapter 546: Mountain Falls
In the next instant, a thunderous boom echoed through the sky like a bolt from the blue, and a powerful shockwave spread out rapidly.
"Boom!"
Cassius's burning draconic body slammed straight into the abyssal dragon's chest, causing sparks to fly, explosions to erupt, and thick smoke to fill the air.
The two colossal beasts, each over a hundred meters in length, tangled together in midair, wrestling violently as the heavens trembled and space quaked.
Jezal Slak's body measured nearly three hundred metersâvastly larger than the red dragon'sâand should have held an overwhelming power advantage.
But compared to the abyssal dragon's thin, decayed body, Cassius's form was far more robust, with solid, iron-like muscular structure and law-forged energy rippling around him.
Almost instantly, the red dragon, leveraging the force of his dive, regained the upper hand, pressing down hard on the abyssal dragon's chest.
"Aaarghâ Eat, I'll eat you!"
Jezal Slak roared madly, flailing with His claws, swinging His broken wings in disarray, shaking His head and snapping wildly, spattering foul-smelling saliva.
"Tsk tsk. A beast in its death throes!"
Cassius seized the opportunity, agilely dodging the massive claws and sharp fangs midair, then quickly leapt to the abyssal dragon's back and bit down hard at the wing joint.
A crisp "crack" soundedâthe wing bone of the abyssal dragon snapped, and the massive, sky-shading wings sagged helplessly.
"Aaargh!"
Jezal Slak arched His neck in pain and howled to the sky, His eyes bloodshot, frenziedly clawingâeven gouging deep, bloody gashes into His own body.
The abyssal dragon thrashed uncontrollably, scales torn and purple-black blood spraying into the air.
But Cassius showed no fear. Instead, he stepped on the abyssal dragon's spine, retracted his wings, and drove his claws viciously into the flesh to pin Him down.
Grinning viciously, he whispered, "Now's the time... Jezal Slak, I've got you!"
"Roarâ"
The red dragon let out a high-pitched roar, his veins bulging, law power coiling around him as gravity around them suddenly intensified tenfold, as though a mountain had crashed onto Jezal Slak's back.
The power of [Imperial Domain: Seal] erased the rampaging chaotic wind, rendering it unable to support the abyssal dragon.
With only one broken wing remaining, Jezal Slak flapped with all His might, but couldn't keep His enormous body balancedâlet alone endure Cassius's assault.
"Boomâ"
The next moment, with a sharp tearing howl through the sky, the two entangled behemoths plummeted from the sky like giant meteors.
Combined, they weighed close to a million tonsâand they smashed directly into the mountainside of Thierry Peak!
"Boom!"
With the mountain trembling and rock exploding, billowing dust shot skyward from the impact, sweeping shattered stone and sand outward to shroud the surrounding dozens of miles in smoke and debris.
The impact crater gouged into Thierry Peak's side was hundreds of meters wide and dozens of meters deep, like a monstrous bite taken from the mountain.
And not just Thierry Peakânot only the Anstica Mountainsâthe entire Anzeta Wasteland trembled and shook!
The battle between these two dragons sent shockwaves across the world, terrifying spectators even from dozens of miles away.
"What terrifying force!"
"Gods above, this is apocalyptic devastation!"
"By Bahamut... a dragon duel like this hasn't been seen in tens of thousands of years!"
"Look! Look at Thierry Peak! H-How is this possible?"
The sound of cracking rock grew louderâaround the crater, deep fissures appeared across the towering mountain, thousands of meters tall, spewing molten lava.
Under the dragons' devastation, the mountain's inner layers had reached their limitâit fractured and collapsed.
"Boomâ"
It was the earth's long cry, the mountain's final elegy.
Countless rocks tumbled down, and the mountain, like a dying giant, slumped backward. The collapse sent up a second wave of thick dust, sweeping the land.
The highest mountain in the Northern Lands, revered for generations by the Scanians as the "King of Snow Mountains"âThierry Peakâcollapsed with a roar.
Yet amidst the ruins, within the choking sand and smoke, two massive shadows continued their fierce struggle.
"Roarâ"
They howled in rage, stirring more dust, while the shattered ground quaked beneath them.
But by now, the abyssal dragon was utterly batteredâhalf buried in debris, His left wing limp, all His earlier might gone.
Even so, this state of Jezal Slak could still crush countless mortals and destroy a human city with ease.
Unfortunately, His opponent was Cassiusâand within the Imperial Domain, he wielded supreme authority.
With the abyssal dragon cushioning the fall, Cassius emerged from the crash completely unscathed.
Fire flickered in his pale-gold eyes, and pressure radiated from his muscular form, which still emitted faint smoke.
Jezal Slak rose from the ruins without hesitation, countless rocks and dust falling from His dragon body, the ground rumbling as He dragged His wounded form toward Cassius.
"Boom!"
Dust erupted again, earth and stone flying in all directions.
But in His madness, Jezal Slak's attacks were far too predictableâHis movements appeared in slow motion to Cassius's Heavenly Calamity Dragon Eyes.
With a simple flap of his wings, Cassius ascended into the air, easily evading the lunge and soaring above the abyssal dragon.
"Swishâ"
His claws struck down from the air, hitting the abyssal dragon's back directly. Scales shattered and purple-black blood splashed across Cassius's face.
Several long, deep gashes appeared on the abyssal dragon's back, drawing out a pained wail.
Jezal Slak writhed madly, flailing all limbs in an attempt to roll and crush the red dragon underneath, but the crushing pressure held Him in place.
Cassius grinned savagely, refusing to let go. Clinging tightly to the abyssal dragon's back, he sank his fangs into the last remaining wing bone, his head wrenching violently.
"Ripâ"
Blood sprayedâthe abyssal dragon's vast wing was torn clean off, the membrane now scarred with jagged tears stretching a hundred meters.
"Aaarghâ"
Another shrill scream. Jezal Slak stretched His neck once more, His enormous body convulsing.
At this point, the abyssal dragon's wings were fully ripped away, blood spraying like rain from His back, and in the sealed domain, not even the reviving flames could heal Him.
Now, Jezal Slak no longer looked like a dragonâHe resembled an emaciated land wyrm.
And the red dragon stood upon the abyssal dragon's back, eyes glowing fiercely, mouth drenched in blood, growling low:
"Jezal Slak, how does it feel to be hunted?
Don't worry... this is only the beginning. Vengeful Demon, I'll return everything you did to meâtenfold!"
