The birds were singing high in the tree tops the sun was warm against Lunis's fur, She was outside her den, enjoying the afternoon, she wished she could stay up here forever, it was so nice in the sun. The warmth of the sun was nice. "Lunis?" a voice called, Lunis whimpered then growled, she got up and walked to a wolf that waited for her at the bottom of the hill. "ah there you are, Alpha Charlie calls for you" the she wolf said she had armor on, though this armor was different than most of them, it hid most of the wolfs face and seemed to be more lighter. "What are you wearing ?" Lunis asked, the she-wolf shrugged, "its very new, turns out you're brother had about millions of these made, it very light and a bit more flexible than the normal armor we used to wear." She answered
Lunis sighed, her brother had been so busy on improving the clans armor, it was like he was preparing for a war. "I don't blame him, a omega trainee was attacked by unknown wolves their scents were the same as the ones at the clans borders and the packs." she said, Lunis nodded she stopped for a moment, she wanted to call the she-wolf but forgot her name "I'm sorry but i cant remember you're name." Lunis asked, the wolf stopped "Oh its Rishka, my brother is one of you're fathers top Betas" she said, Lunis nodded, they walked to the larger den that was only a couple meters away. Charlie was waiting at the entrance, "afternoon" he said. Lunis smiled, "Afternoon father" she said.
They entered the den all together, the den had tunnels leading to hollows which were sleeping places for the alphas, Betas and guards. they walked down a tunnel that lead to the largest hollow in the den, there were other wolves around, they were all high ranking members of the pack, Dyer sat by a flat stone, When everyone saw Charlie enter they bent down flattening their ears, Charlie moved next to Dagger, everyone rose and sat around the flat stone Lunis sat behind Dagger and Charlie.
"good evening everyone, I hope your all well?" Charlie asked every one nodded, Charlie carried on "As you should know the strange scent has been even more frequent than ever, and yet we haven't caught them, and what's worse was that a Elite trainee was attacked two days ago" most of the wolves gasped their surprise, A trainee was the first target of the unknown source but why? they couldn't believe it. "And since then I've come to a conclusion to send one of my pups to Coldrose pack." said Charlie, Lunis pricked her ears, he was going to send her and she knew it.
"But alpha, that pack is next to willow packs territory, and if the first attack was there, wouldnt it be wiser to send her to one of the northern packs?" A large scarred wolf said he had the most gruffiest voice that Lunis has ever heard. Charlie nodded "yes but the Elite wolves are mostly stationed in Coldrose, from there ill pick a northern pack" Charlie said everyone seemed to hate the idea, but nodded. If they disagreed they would lose the argument. Charlie looked at each wolf they were all good warriors and friends "Blackfang you and you're sister Rishka will accompany Lunis" Charlie commanded them they both nodded, Lunis started to cheer up a little, at least it wont be boring, "Blackfang, you can also check what happened at the willow pack training dens" Charlie said, Blackfang rose and barked his agreement, Charlie nodded and Blackfang sat down.
Charlie yawned exposing his fangs, "now the other matter...has anyone heard from Randei?" Charlie asked, everyone nodded, "We haven't got a single word from them" said one of the wolves, Randei was one of the southern clans. Randei was Sudina's southern fish traders. Charlie closed his eyes "Send a small patrol there to see what's happening" Charlie said looking at Dagger, Dagger got up and left the room.
Charlie also rose "this meeting was short, we must prepare for anything especially now that the unknown "enemy" attacked" Charlie said he left the hollow Lunis followed him, "You will leave tomorrow, I know its going to be risky but, Its better to let you travel long" Charlie said he turned "go prepare for tomorrow, you'll be travelling for about a week and one day since you'll be using the Floaters."
Lunis left the dens, she didnt want to leave but she could understand what her father wanted, "I wish you luck for tomorrow" Said Dagger coming out the shadows, Lunis jumped back thinking he was someone else "Sorry sis" Dagger said with a teasing grin, Lunis nipped at Dagger, Dagger moved to the side dodging it. He laughed "You're still a bit too slow" he said.
Dagger walked with Lunis on the pathway "I saw you're invention, the armor" said Lunis, Dagger Yawned "excuse me, I haven't slept for awhile, Yes its lighter and is more efficient and is also flexible, so we can still move and sneak around quickly and the leather stops the metal from making a racket when you run" Dagger explained, Lunis wondered how wolves even came to think of metal claws and armor.
Dagger stopped for a moment Lunis looked at him in confusion Dagger started sniffing the air. Suddenly Lunis saw a white flash heading towards her at blinding speed but before it hit her Dagger jumped into her taking the hit himself, he yelped in pain, Two dark figures jumped from some berry bushes they headed straight for Lunis but Dagger again stood in front of Lunis, the wolves had a foul scent, similar to the ones Dagger had caught a whiff of around the border, They struck hard and fast the one wolf jumped aiming for Daggers neck, Dagger moved back the wolf bit the air, Dagger growled his side was in pain but he wont allow is sister to be harmed. He grabbed the wolf and pulled him slamming him into the other wolf they both tumbled they got up this time their approach was different one wolf went straight for Dagger the other charged round Dagger heading for Lunis! Dagger turned trying to intercept the other wolf but his opponent caught him, he pinned him down, Dagger heard a howl, The wolf that pinned him was flung off by one of the guards, A she wolf Rishka sprinted to Lunis the wolf had cornered her. Rishka slammed into the wolf, the wolf rolled he got up seeing they were outnumbered he ran to his comrade and they both ran back into the bushes and disappeared into the night, two Sudina guards ran after them. Dagger staggered, "Dagger!" Whined Lunis.
Charlie paced up and down Chelsea lay next to the entrance of the herb wolf den. Lunis was escorted to her den by 6 guards, Charlie had commanded that Guards are to Be on high alert. Dagger was bleeding heavily on his side where the Phantom arrow struck, Charlie only heard the war howl, but he was told that there were two wolves and they seemed determined to get to his other pup Lunis. Charlie was furious, first a trainee and now his own pups. Who ever the unknown wolves were, he wanted them dead.
One of the Herb wolves walked out , his paw was covered with blood, Charlie stopped and faced the wolf "is he okay?!" he asked Chelsea rose and went next to Charlie "Alpha Charlie, you're pup will make it, but he lost a lot of blood, luckily the phantom arrow didn't touch any of his vital organs." The medic wolf said, Charlie sighed. "Thank you" Charlie said, Chelsea sat down.
The herb wolf left them and went back inside, "Why would they attack our pups Charlie?" Chelsea asked her voice was soft "I don't know...but i swear when i find ill punish them dreadfully" Charlie said he looked around there were 12 Guards around them, Charlie saw Blackfang walk past "Blackfang" Charlie called, Blackfang stopped and turned, "Alpha Charlie?" he asked, Charlie needed to change plans and quick. "You will leave now" Charlie said, Blackfangs eyes grew wide " At night?" he asked, if he was nervous he didn't show it. "i understand that it dangerous to travel at night but my pups were just attacked, i want her to leave now" Charlie said, he didn't want to but keeping her here would mean more trouble if the unknown enemy invade.
Blackfang couldn't say anything after that he just nodded, and moved on, he could have tried to convince the alpha, but he had no choice but to obey. He walked back to the royal dens, There were guards every Where, some hunters Had joined the search for the attackers but the attackers disappeared without a trace. Blackfang walked past two guards that were talking to each other," still, why would they target her only?" said the first one the other one rolled his eye, he stood straight when Blackfang walked past, the other wolf didn't see Blackfang so on he walked past Blackfang, Blackfang gave a low growl, The wolf stopped he looked up, " Oh! Beta Blackfang!" he said he stood straight, " BY now, the enemy would have snuck past you if kept on the way you did" Blackfang said the wolfs shoulders sagged " sorry Beta" he said, Blackfang carried on "Don't be sorry, be careful" he said over his shoulder.
Blackfang reached The Alpha pups den "Alpha pup Lunis, is she still in there?" He asked the four guards outside, they nodded "With yer sister Beta" said one of the guards. Blackfang nodded his thanks and walked in " Rishka?" he called halted in his place, Rishka was laying next to Lunis, relaxed! Blackfang was furious, "Rishka what do you think you're doing?" he growled, Rishka rose and so did Lunis "Brother?" She asked, Blackfang walked up to Rishka, but Lunis jumped in front of him " Blackfang i permitted it" Lunis said, Blackfang looked at Lunis, he adverted her gaze, it didn't matter if she permitted it, this is no way Rishka should be relaxing, especially with wolves that want the alpha pup dead. Blackfang started to calm himself down " Alpha Charlie commanded me to get you ready, we will be leaving now" Blackfang said, Rishka's mouth dropped open " At night? But...Nevermind" Lunis said, Blackfang felt the same way she did.
Later on Lunis was escorted out the dens with 20 warriors including Blackfang and Rishka. they walked past other wolf dens and entered into the forests darkness. Lunis hasn't been very far from home before she was excited but at the same time scared. She didn't know what to expect, instead of heading to the northern packs where the unknown wolves would not get to her, she was heading to a pack where she could be at risk of any attack, but she could not argue with her father. She pushed back the worrying thoughts and kept going.
Dagger stood on the hill he could just make out Lunis`s white fur, before it vanished, the moon was bright though it wasn't full, Dagger kept staring at the forest, his wound still pained but he didn't care much. A small wolf ran towards him "Delta Dagger, you are to report to The Alphas den." he said, Dagger rose slowly His side Pained and he winced. "Ok, thank you omega" he said, the omega nodded his head and walked away. Dagger turned around, he walked as if he was being followed. In a way he was.
Lunis had been walking for a few hours, it had been a very quiet walk, no spoke the only sounds were the crickets and the sound of their paws against the dewed grass. Blackfangs eyes kept darting the the side expecting an attack to happen, the other warriors were alert, and kept sniffing the air for any sign of an attack, Lunis felt awkward. This was all new to her, These wolves were born and trained to fight and protect, she felt small among them.
Lunis soon could hear water, she saw some light up ahead. She looked at Blackfang, he relaxed only a little, Soon they were facing a river with a couple of guards patrolling a huge Floater Lunis was amazed by the great logs "It will be much faster to travel by river." Blackfang said, Lunis saw a couple of wolves on the floater slide a flat piece of wood
