The air outside the Queens Family Court building was freezing cold, just like previous days.
At the corner of the street, two motorcycles from the Huanghou Qu Lianhua were parked near the curb. The riders wore tinted black helmets, their heavy leather jackets zipped tight just waiting.
They just sat on their bikes, keeping their eyes moving up and down the street. Across from them, parked an unmarked dark gray car sat with its heater running like always.
Inside of it, Ava sat behind the steering wheel. Her eyes were red from working long shifts without sleep, as she was doing her best to get these scums behind bars.
In front of her was the audio recorder holding Ryder's voice that was basically useless now to her. And Beside her, Jake leaned his head back against the headrest, holding a warm paper cup of black coffee.
