Chapter Two Hundred and Eighteen
For the first time in a long time, something unfamiliar pressed against Asli's chest.
Pity.
She looked at him, really looked at him.
Daniel stood there with blood still dried near his lip, bruises beginning to darken along his face, shoulders held up by nothing except
stubbornness.
He was nothing but a man who had spent years believing he was protecting his brother, only to find out he had been dancing on strings someone else held.
Before she even realized it, the words were already leaving her mouth.
"I'll give you two options."
Daniel looked up.
"You can go after my father and get yourself killed…" Her head tilted slightly. "Or you come with me."
Silence.
Daniel stared at her for a moment.
Then slowly shook his head.
"No."
The answer came quietly.
"I'm done working for people." She was expecting this.
His gaze lowered briefly.
"I just want my brother safe."
Asli studied him.
