Chapter 229 - Chapter 229: Crushing Victory

Lian approached Zapdos and observed his opponent's three Pokemon: Larvitar, Bagon, and Houndour, contemplating his battle strategy.

Bagon could be dealt with first, as Lian had Dragon Breath, directly countering it. The remaining two Pokemon would need to be forcefully defeated since neither he nor Zapdos possessed moves specifically effective against them.

"You just support me," Lian said, turning towards Zapdos. Its Thunder Wave ability was invaluable, capable of disrupting opponents; if lucky enough to land a hit, it provided a significant advantage.

Typically, Zapdos used Thunder Wave and Thunder Shock to cover for Lian while he executed his moves, ultimately defeating their adversaries.

Zapdos' most powerful moves were generally learned much later in its development. Without relying on Move Disks, it lacked impressive abilities at this stage.

Nodding, Zapdos took flight and skillfully cast Thunder Wave towards the trio of opposing Pokemon. Simultaneously, Lian sprang into action. Facing the onslaught from all three, he decisively unleashed Dragon Rage, targeting the nearest Larvitar first.

Currently, Dragon Rage was Lian's strongest move, but as his level increased, it no longer had the ability to instantly defeat opponents. However, against Larvitar, it remained highly effective. Given Larvitar's current stamina, it couldn't withstand two consecutive Dragon Rages.

Bagon trailed behind, and from Lian's position, he couldn't directly attack Bagon, leaving him with no choice but to focus on Larvitar first.

A surge of Thunder Wave emanated from Zapdos, spreading over a wide area and heading straight towards the trio of Pokémon ahead.

Larvitar showed no concern; being a Ground-type, as long as it stood on the ground, it could completely ignore Electric-type moves. All electric attacks would be grounded, rendering them ineffective against it.

As the Thunder Wave swept past, Lian unleashed his Dragon Rage, creating a powerful shockwave that rapidly approached Larvitar.

Lian noticed that the color of Dragon Rage varied depending on the Pokémon using it. Previously, when encountering another Dragon-type Pokémon, its Dragon Rage appeared purple.

While Larvitar could disregard the Thunder Wave, it couldn't do the same for Dragon Rage. Despite its small size, Larvitar weighed significantly more than expected, yet compared to Tyranitar, it displayed greater agility.

Larvitar opened its mouth and unleashed a black energy wave directly towards Lian's Dragon Rage.

With a loud boom,

Larvitar successfully countered Lian's Dragon Rage using Dark Pulse, causing waves of energy to radiate outward.

Lian was somewhat surprised that Larvitar had mastered Dark Pulse. Although pre-evolution Larvitar lacks the Dark Type attribute, it inherently possessed exceptional talent for Evil Element Energy, allowing it to quickly learn the dark-type move.

However, neutralizing Lian's Dragon Rage proved futile as he swiftly followed up with Flamethrower. While not as potent as Dragon Rage, Larvitar couldn't outmatch Lian's offensive capabilities.

Before reaching close quarters, Larvitar could only endure Lian's Flamethrower without any chance to counterattack effectively.

"Bagon, Houndour, focus your full attack on Charmeleon!" Kentra realized that Charmeleon was the primary threat; although Zapdos is a Legendary Pokemon, it posed less concern now. Thankfully, he hadn't taught Zapdos any moves from Move Disks earlier.

Instantly shifting their target, Bagon and Houndour redirected their assault towards Lian.

As Thunder Wave enveloped Houndour, electric arcs surged across its body, infiltrating instantly and causing inevitable Paralysis.

Meanwhile, Bagon, positioned behind, avoided the Thunder Wave and unleashed Dragon Breath towards Lian, sending a fierce cyan aura his way.

Lian's Flamethrower struck Larvitar directly. Facing Bagon's Dragon Breath, he swiftly burst with speed, effortlessly dodging the attack.

This was precisely when to utilize Explosive Power.

Having evaded Dragon Breath, Lian quickly turned to Bagon, now exposed within his line of sight, making it an opportune moment for a counterattack.

"Let's see how you handle Dragon Breath."

Lian puffed out his cheeks and forcefully exhaled, directing a powerful blast straight at Bagon. As he did so, he intentionally increased the distance from Larvitar during his explosive move.

Larvitar's speed was not exceptional; catching up to Lian seemed nearly impossible. Therefore, focusing on eliminating Bagon became his priority.

Just as Bagon unleashed its Dragon Breath, Lian countered with his own, leaving no chance for Bagon to dodge and sending it crashing to the ground.

This particular Bagon seemed relatively new to the Dream World, lacking sufficient strength. After being hit by Dragon Breath, it lost its ability to continue battling effectively.

With another Pokemon defeated, the opponent now only had two remaining, and Larvitar had already taken damage from Flamethrower earlier.

Zap!

At this moment, Zapdos released its second move, Thunder Shock, directly targeting Houndour. Over time, Lian had taught Zapdos about type advantages and resistances, making it aware that Electric-type moves have no effect on Larvitar.

A small bolt of lightning crackled forth towards Houndour. Among the present Pokemon, none surpassed Zapdos' level, resulting in a notably powerful Thunder Shock attack.

While not as potent as Lian's Flamethrower, it was still the most impactful move against Houndour at this point.

Woo!

Houndour let out a painful cry; the sensation of being struck by electricity was intensely uncomfortable, especially since it also entered a paralyzed state, barely able to move.

"Darn it!" Kentra seethed with anger; his four Pokemon couldn't even defeat two opponents. Without touching a single hair of their adversaries, he had already lost two Pokemon, and the remaining pair were injured. This was an utter humiliation.

"We can't continue this battle, or it'll end up like last time." Kentra recalled the previous encounter when Charmeleon relentlessly whipped him with its tail, marking a deep stain on his reputation.

This time, he vowed not to repeat the same mistake.

In the next moment, Kentra made up his mind, deciding to recall his Pokemon for a strategic retreat.

"Larvitar, Houndour, return!"

Upon hearing this, Larvitar let out a deep growl. In the real world, it was the mighty Tyranitar, an absolute dominant force among Pokemon. Yet now, it was being ordered to retreat.

Having been soundly defeated by Lian before, Larvitar's fury surged at the thought of retreating again so soon.

However, Kentra was haunted by past failures. Seeing the tide turning against him, continuing the fight might not guarantee victory, making retreat the wiser choice.

Though deeply infuriated, Kentra suppressed his rage, knowing circumstances dictated his actions, despite the burning fire within that remained unventilated.
