Chapter 212 - Chapter 212: Intensifying Pressure

The swarm of Pokemon charged towards Lian while Kalia swiftly distanced herself to avoid getting caught in the battle. Humans were far more fragile than Pokemon; staying within the combat zone would only be a hindrance.

Watching the numerous ferocious Pokemon approaching, Kalia felt her heart tremble. Could Charmeleon and Grovyle withstand them? Would they risk losing their lives?

Facing such a ruthless organization, there was no turning back now. Even revealing the bracelet would be futile; she had underestimated them. They intended to capture her as punishment, regardless of whether they knew she didn't possess the bracelet anymore.

Suddenly,

Babu and other Dark Guild members unexpectedly rushed directly towards Kalia, aiming to apprehend her.

Kalia experienced a sense of helplessness; under these circumstances, she couldn't command her Pokemon effectively, struggling even to protect herself. Her only option was to flee.

As Babu's group closed in, Kalia had no choice but to run away. If captured, Charmeleon and Grovyle would also surrender helplessly due to concern for her safety.

Damn it!

Clenching her fists tightly, Kalia sprinted, evading the pursuit of Babu and his accomplices who were now all chasing after her.

Lian witnessed this unfolding but was powerless to intervene. Facing such a large group of attacking Pokemon, he could potentially force his way through with sheer strength, but without defeating them all, escape would be impossible.

The only solution now was evolution!

He recalled how Julian's Charmeleon evolved under immense pressure earlier. Lian felt significant stress himself, but it wasn't enough yet.

"Grovyle, I'll help you disengage from battle; go take care of those people," Lian instructed.

With Kalia being pursued by so many trainers, there was no chance for her to escape alone. If Grovyle could break free and utilize its full power, once the humans lost their Pokemon protection, it would swiftly eliminate them.

As numerous Pokemon charged towards them, Grovyle couldn't immediately disengage, requiring Lian to create an opportunity.

Wrath of Fire!

Lian promptly unleashed Wrath of Fire, generating multiple fiery orbs in the sky. This time, instead of releasing them individually, he detonated them all at once.

Boom! Boom! Boom...

Ten massive fireballs exploded simultaneously, creating deafening roars that startled over thirty Pokemon. Countless flames descended like a torrential rain of fire.

As soon as Lian unleashed the Wrath of Fire, he swiftly grabbed Grovyle's body and burst forth with incredible speed, leaping high to evade the onslaught from numerous Pokemon.

"Quickly, go assist Kalia."

After jumping into the air, Grovyle understood Lian's intent and used him as a springboard, propelling itself forward. Being naturally skilled at jumping, Grovyle soared out of the combat zone and landed safely on distant ground, close to Kalia, then rapidly sprinted towards her.

Kalia was already running swiftly, benefiting from her regular physical training. Despite being adults, the Dark Guild members' stamina couldn't match hers, failing to catch up quickly.

With Grovyle's assistance, Kalia was now secure, no longer needing to worry about being overtaken by the Dark Guild members.

The biggest mistake these guild members made was chasing after Kalia collectively. They assumed she couldn't possibly escape, believing that once they captured her, her Pokemon would become irrelevant.

As Lian prepared for his descent, he immediately cast Flame Tornado, readying himself for the impending storm of attacks. Meanwhile, Ninetales on the ground had already come under heavy assault.

However, there was no alternative; Grovyle's slender frame made it impossible for Lian to catch and restrain Ninetales while jumping.

But Ninetales possessed remarkable vitality, capable of surviving for millennia, indicating its inherent resilience. Moreover, as Lian prepared to draw their attention, the incapacitated Ninetales would likely not be of interest to these Pokemon.

Intense flames enveloped Lian's body. He wasn't sure if they could fend off attacks from so many Pokemon, but he hoped to at least deter some, providing him with an opportunity to counterattack during this brief window.

As Lian gradually descended, several Pokemon already began launching assaults towards him - notably flying types like Golbats and Murkrows.

The Dark Guild members' Pokemon were individually weak, but their strength lay in sheer numbers. Six Golbats and three Murkrows simultaneously charged at Lian.

Behind them lurked a Gliscor, unmistakably belonging to Babu, one of the elite members of the Dark Guild.

Apparently, Babu's other Pokemon were not present, otherwise, the sky wouldn't have remained clear under Sunny Day conditions, suggesting instead a Sandstorm weather effect should prevail.

The Flame Tornado could withstand numerous attacks but only Special Attack moves; physical contact-based attacks were not blocked. However, any Pokemon passing through the flames would suffer burn damage.

Golbats and Murkrows unleashed various moves simultaneously towards Lian. As they closed in for the attack, Lian swiftly responded with his Fire-type move.

Flame Splitter!

Lian instantly released multiple streams of flame, requiring precise control which he had mastered.

He managed to unleash five separate flames at once, reaching his limit. Normally, Lian could release ten flames, but the Flame Tornado had already consumed some of his fire energy.

Despite their reduced power, these flames still inflicted significant damage.

Unfortunately, if Lian knew Inferno, he could have directly used it mid-air, instantly wiping out a large portion of the attacking Pokemon.

Lian lacked sufficient wide-range moves; both Heat Wave and Inferno require substantial amounts of fire energy, which is precisely what he often finds himself short of.

As just an ordinary Charmeleon, without the system, Lian might have remained average throughout his life.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As flames collided with Golbats, intense explosions ensued. Despite Lian using Flame Splitter to divide the fire, the amplified power by Sunny Day resulted in astonishing blast force, sending both Golbats and Murkrows flying.

Having swiftly dealt with this wave of Flying-type Pokémon, Lian descended to the ground, immediately facing a barrage of attacks from numerous remaining Pokémon.

Fortunately, without direct command from the Dark Guild members, these Pokémon's moves varied greatly in strength. Some used weak tackles, while others employed ranged Special Attack moves like Icy Wind.

The Flame Tornado couldn't withstand the relentless onslaught for long and quickly dissipated, leaving Lian exposed to significant damage.

However, Lian wasn't one to simply succumb. With his speed surpassing most of the present Pokémon, and now that Ninetales had been defeated, no other Pokémon were focused on it. This gave Lian an opportunity to act freely.

Run!

Upon landing as the Flame Tornado defense crumbled, Lian instantly raised his fist, unleashing a powerful Fire Punch. He struck a Sneasel, sending it flying and breaking through the encircling Pokémon, attempting to forcefully escape their siege.

However, it wasn't that simple. Lian realized he couldn't break through; there were too many Pokemon forming a tight encirclement. No matter which direction he chose, multiple Pokemon would confront him.

You're forcing my hand!

With no other options, Lian's gaze ignited with determination. He had already endured numerous attacks, and if not for his strong defensive capabilities, he likely would have been defeated long ago.

Boom!

A burst of intense flames erupted from Lian's body, enveloping him in a scorching heatwave before charging towards one specific direction.

Overheat, a powerful 130 base power Fire-type move, unleashes all stored flame energy at once but has the side effect of lowering Special Attack.

Lian initially hesitated to use this move, but now, circumstances left him no choice. Even though it would decrease his Special Attack, he could no longer afford to worry about that.

Boom!

Covered in a blazing inferno, Lian forcefully charged ahead. Two Mightyenas attempting to block his path were instantly sent flying by the searing heatwave, deterring any nearby Pokemon from getting close due to the extreme temperatures.

The explosive release of Overheat made it incredibly potent, swiftly defeating both Mightyenas on impact. This allowed Lian to successfully break free from the siege and escape the encirclement.

However, the danger was not yet over. After breaking free from the encirclement, Lian caught his breath momentarily while also diverting the Pokemon away to protect Ninetales, which had lost its combat capability.

He needed to evolve quickly!

Lian felt immense pressure, especially with the weakness post-Overheat. His Special Attack dropped by two stages, posing a significant threat, but he had no choice; escaping was crucial.

Just then, as Grovyle and Kalia provided support, Babu unexpectedly released Tyranitar. It became evident that Babu had intentionally held back Tyranitar during the battle against Lian's Pokemon.

Initially, Grovyle seemed poised to defeat all Dark Guild members, but Tyranitar's intervention forced it to retreat with Kalia.

What a pity.

Lian didn't anticipate this hidden ace up their sleeve. Fortunately, without Tyranitar present, losing the advantage of Sunny Day would have severely weakened him.

He couldn't sustain any more injuries. Lian already felt multiple wounds inflicted by their attacks. Thankfully, he wasn't an ordinary Charmeleon; otherwise, he would have been defeated countless times by now.
