Chapter 204 - Chapter 204: Breakneck Blitz

Executing a Z-Move is not straightforward; during combat, it requires creating resonance between two Z-crystals to unleash Z-power. By consuming energy from both the Trainer and Pokemon, it enables them to perform a specialized attack far more potent than regular moves.

On the sidelines, Professor Evergreen explained the process of releasing a Z-Move. Achieving this was challenging, as Trainers must capture the resonance moment and instantly burst forth with Z-power.

"Kalia, once you feel the resonance, try unleashing a Z-Move. However, experiencing it firsthand will be more enlightening than any explanation. Let's begin the battle," said Professor Evergreen.

"Alright," Kalia nodded.

Lian then stepped onto the battlefield, facing off against Tauros. Its true strength remained uncertain, but it likely wasn't weak, considering it belonged to Professor Evergreen—a renowned Pokemon Professor wouldn't carry a feeble Pokemon around.

"Tauros, use Horn Attack!" With Professor Evergreen's command, the battle commenced.

Tauros stomped its hind legs, emitting an intimidating gaze that locked onto Lian, radiating a menacing aura throughout its entire body.

Lian felt the effect of Tauros's Intimidate Ability, experiencing a slight sense of fear, but he quickly suppressed it with minimal impact.

The Tauros charged swiftly towards Lian, creating a gust of wind as its horns aimed directly at him.

"Charmeleon, dodge and use Slash," Kalia commanded. Since she wasn't sure how to trigger the Z-Move, she had Charmeleon frequently use Slash instead. Using Flamethrower could potentially defeat Tauros too quickly, which wouldn't serve their purpose well.

It wasn't that Kalia underestimated Professor Evergreen's Pokemon; rather, Charmeleon was genuinely too powerful. By using Slash repeatedly, they hoped to hasten the release of the Z-Move.

Gripping the Z-crystal, Lian engaged in battle. As Tauros lunged, he effortlessly leaped aside, then mid-air, raised his claw covered in white light and fiercely slashed downward.

While Lian's Slash couldn't inflict significant damage on the tough-skinned Tauros, the objective of this battle was to unleash the Z-Move, not necessarily to win or lose.

After the downward slash, Lian utilized the recoil force to land smoothly on the ground before charging again for another Slash maneuver.

"Tauros, continue with Horn Attack."

The intense battle continued. Although Tauros was swift, it clearly couldn't match Lian's speed. However, due to one mistake, Lian did get struck by Tauros' Horn Attack.

As the fight progressed, Kalia gradually sensed energy from the Z-crystal within her Z-Ring, but its power had not yet reached the critical threshold for immediate release.

Unlocking a Z-Move is challenging, but with practice and mastery of resonance techniques, it becomes possible to swiftly unleash the move instantaneously.

Feeling, sensing...

While directing the battle, Kalia searched for that specific sensation. Simultaneously, Lian also felt the ordinary Z-crystal in his hand stirring with anticipation.

Lian recalled from the anime in his previous life that releasing a Z-Move required synchronized movements between Trainer and Pokemon. This synchronization accelerates the resonance process, showcasing the bond between Trainer and Pokemon; however, Kalia could not achieve this level of coordination.

Tauros charged again with another Horn Attack, which Lian effortlessly evaded, following up with a fierce Slash maneuver.

It must be acknowledged that Tauros indeed has tough skin, although part of the reason might be Lian's lack of proficiency with attack moves. Nonetheless, Slash connected multiple times.

"Kalia, the Normal-type Z-Move is called Breakneck Blitz. You're almost there; capture that resonance feeling and then channel it to unleash!" Professor Evergreen, with his vast knowledge, had undoubtedly witnessed the release of Z-Moves before, promptly offering guidance.

"I understand." Kalia nodded, slightly amused by the move's name, wondering who came up with such a title.

Lian unleashed another Slash, landing on the ground. He could now sense the surging energy of Z-power, nearing its peak for eruption.

Just at that moment, Kalia finally grasped the precise instant of energy resonance. Without needing any specific action, she simply followed her instincts to guide it forth.

"Charmeleon, are you ready?!" Kalia shouted, filled with excitement and anticipation. What would this Z-Move look like? Judging from the name "Breakneck Blitz," it seemed likely to be a close-range charging attack.

Roar!

Lian responded, indicating he was prepared, as the Z-crystal in his hand began to glow gradually.

"Yes!"

Kalia raised her arm, and in the next second, the Z-crystal within her Z-Ring emitted a dazzling white light, radiating waves of energy outward.

Intense energy radiated outward, stirring up fierce gusts of wind as the Z-crystals on Kalia's wristband and Lian's hand resonated strongly.

Simultaneously, Kalia instinctively performed the Slash move gesture, reflecting a harmonious connection between Trainer and Pokemon during such attacks.

"Charmeleon, Breakneck Blitz!" Kalia finally shouted the move's name, feeling it necessary to announce before executing the technique.

Boom!

Lian felt an immense surge of power as Z-energy erupted from him, fueled by both Kalia's and his own Stamina reserves.

With claws raised, he sprinted towards Tauros, enveloped entirely by the Z-power, moving at lightning speed.

The ultimate form of a Z-move is influenced by its base move; thus, a Breakneck Blitz based on Slash would undoubtedly be more potent than one derived from Tackle.

Z-moves grant extraordinary strength to Pokemon. In an instant, Lian reached Tauros, delivering a devastating slash infused with the full force of the Z-powered Breakneck Blitz, causing it to explosively unleash.

Simultaneously, Kalia lowered her arm almost synchronously with Lian's move, as if she were executing the attack herself.

Boom!

The power of Z-moves was incredibly potent but not entirely unavoidable; however, evading them proved extremely challenging even for specially trained Pokemon.

With a deafening crash, Tauros was sent flying from the direct impact. The Z-move based on Slash boasted a staggering base power of 140, and despite Lian's relatively low attack ability, it was more than enough to defeat Tauros.

However, the cost of using such a move was significant. Lian felt his stamina depleted by over half, leaving him somewhat weakened.

Kalia experienced a similar effect; when the Z-power erupted, her Stamina was also drained, causing her face to pale slightly. Despite her regular physical training, the strain was noticeable.

Nevertheless, Kalia quickly adjusted, though attempting another Z-move immediately seemed impossible unless her overall Stamina improved significantly—a demanding feat for any Trainer.

In battle, utilizing a Z-move once is generally advisable. For adult Trainers with exceptionally strong Pokemon, releasing two Z-moves might be feasible, albeit taxing.
