Chapter 200 - Chapter 200: Fourth Pokemon

Within the Dream World.

Due to the Lunar Feather's influence, Kalia dared not venture too far from her cabin, fearing she might miss the opportunity to return for sleep. Consequently, she focused on searching for Pokemon nearby.

Time passed swiftly as Kalia engaged in numerous battles with various Pokemon. Inevitably, injuries occurred during these encounters; however, after each battle, adequate rest allowed the Pokemon to recover somewhat from their wounds.

After multiple skirmishes, Kalia encountered several promising Pokemon, such as Poochyena inheriting Thunder Fang or others possessing specific inherited moves. Yet, none of them truly captivated her heart.

The primary issue was that these Pokemon did not align well with Kalia's desired team composition. She preferred attack-oriented Pokemon with greater potential, ideally those known for becoming exceptionally strong post-evolution, akin to starter pokémon.

Kalia came across many starter pokémon, like Chikorita wandering amidst grasslands, but they didn't fit her vision. With already one Grass-type in her lineup, adding another would create redundancy and potentially a significant weakness.

For instance, there were Sloothers near the local river, but Water-type Pokemon were not under consideration for Kalia. Under Sunny Day conditions, Water-type moves weaken significantly, making it impractical to invest in a Water-type Pokemon.

The Dream World was filled with numerous rare Pokemon that were virtually unseen outside this realm. Unfortunately, Kalia couldn't capture every encountered Pokemon; she had only one Dream Ball and needed to reserve it for the most suitable candidate.

By now, Kalia had ventured over ten meters away from the cabin. Thankfully, the Lunar Feather's power could sustain her presence for some time, allowing ample opportunity to continue searching.

"Should I go further?" Kalia sensed no suitable Pokemon nearby, thinking new ones might appear at a greater distance.

Deciding to give her Pokemon a brief rest, she planned to explore farther while keeping a constant eye on the Lunar Feather, ensuring they could promptly return when necessary.

Upon hearing Kalia's thoughts, Lian agreed that venturing further sounded promising. He too was curious about encountering better Pokemon. Honestly, throughout their journey, they had come across several promising ones, which would have tempted him as a Trainer to capture them instantly.

However, Kalia wasn't the type of Trainer who indiscriminately captured every Pokemon she encountered. She preferred focusing on nurturing a select few, finding little value in accumulating too many.

After walking for some time, Kalia spotted a Fighting-type Makuhita in the distance. It was a decent attacking Pokemon that could evolve into the formidable Hariyama; however, it didn't quite fit well with her current Pokemon lineup.

"Makuhita, let's make a note of it. If we don't find any suitable Pokemon by then, we'll capture this Makuhita," Kalia decided after considering her options.

Makuhita is a solid Pokemon, albeit somewhat slow. However, once evolved into Hariyama, it becomes incredibly resilient and powerful in attacks. Apart from being slightly mismatched with Kalia's existing team, its other attributes were commendable. Fighting-type Pokemon have always been known for their exceptional offensive capabilities.

Having noted the location of the Makuhita, Kalia continued forward, avoiding certain Pokemon while searching for the right one to capture. Whenever she encountered weaker Pokemon, she still engaged them in battles.

Since entering the Dream World, both Charmander and Treecko had significantly strengthened, enabling them to face a wider range of opponents effectively.

As they progressed further, Kalia glanced at the Lunar Feather in her hand, realizing time was running out. If they couldn't find a more desirable Pokemon soon, they would have no choice but to return and attempt capturing the Makuhita.

"Chirp!"

At that moment, Lian heard a sound and turned towards its source, noticing what appeared to be an orange-colored Pokemon hidden within the grass.

A Fire-type Pokemon?

Lian could sense the fiery aura emanating from it, confirming it was indeed a Fire-type Pokémon. But which specific species could it be?

Given their current team composition, a Fire-type Pokémon would be ideal due to the synergy with Sunny Day's effect. However, if it didn't specialize in attack moves, they would have to pass on it.

Quietly approaching, Lian wanted to identify the creature. As he drew closer, he finally got a clear look at the orange Torchic nestled among the foliage.

Torchic!

He was instantly surprised; it was actually a Torchic, seemingly busy foraging or eating in the grass.

Kalia also noticed Lian's actions and followed his gaze towards the bushes.

"Chirp?"

The clueless Torchic spotted Lian, lifting its head with a puzzled expression.

"Torchic?" Kalia gasped, covering her mouth, eyes wide open. No one expected to encounter a Torchic here.

In fact, when choosing her initial Pokémon, Kalia had the opportunity to obtain a Torchic, but it was already selected by someone else. Instead, she opted for the Grass-type Treecko over Mudkip.

Torchic is indeed one of the exceptional Fire-type starter Pokémon. Upon evolution into Blaziken, it possesses both Fighting and Fire-types, capable of learning numerous powerful attack moves.

Moves like Blaze Kick, Fire Punch, High Jump Kick, among others, are incredibly strong attacks that could perfectly address Kalia's current lack of offensive Pokémon in her lineup.

Additionally, Blaziken has significant potential in Special Attack, allowing it to master various unique Fire-type moves, making it versatile in different combat situations.

The Torchic seemed somewhat dazed, observing Kalia and Lian before suddenly reacting and darting away.

"Chik!" The Torchic flapped its tiny claws, attempting to flee swiftly. However, there was no way Kalia would let this Torchic escape easily; she immediately commanded her Charmeleon to chase after it and initiate an attack.

Lian quickly followed suit, but this Torchic possessed a hidden Ability - evident from its Accelerate trait, as it continued to gain speed, nearly outpacing Lian.

"We can't let it get away," Lian thought, surging his own speed. If he didn't accelerate further, capturing this Torchic would be impossible.

Kalia noticed the distinctiveness of this Torchic, confirming its Accelerate Ability; otherwise, it wouldn't have continuously gained speed.

As Lian surged forward, he swiftly caught up to the Torchic and promptly unleashed a Dragon Breath attack, directly targeting it.

The intense blast knocked the frantic Torchic off its feet, causing it to tumble several times before finally stopping, slightly dazed but still capable of fighting.

Lian observed the Torchic, which now displayed a fearful expression, seemingly intimidated.

Quite timid for such a future badass.

Lian was somewhat speechless; after evolving into Blaziken, it becomes incredibly cool with a blazing Blaze Kick move.

How could this Torchic be so timid? It had immediately fled upon seeing him earlier, showing no inclination to battle. Now, even after being hit by his Dragon Breath, it instantly cowered.

At that moment, Kalia approached, noticing the frightened appearance of the Torchic. She knelt down and saw it trembling uncontrollably.

"Torchic, would you like to join me?" Kalia gently asked. Despite its apparent timidity, courage can be gradually nurtured, so she remained undeterred.

With Torchic's unique ability to accelerate, it held immense potential and a promising future.

"Chic?"

Despite its injuries, Torchic sensed Kalia's kindness through her voice, gradually calming down from its fearful trembling.

"Hold on, this is your Dream Ball," Kalia said as she produced a pink Poké Ball. "Are you willing to join me inside? If so, please don't resist, okay?" With that, she pressed the button, activating the Dream Ball.

A red beam emerged, enveloping Torchic, who offered no resistance as it was swiftly absorbed into the Dream Ball.

Kalia closely monitored the activity within the ball; initially, there were signs of struggle, but they soon diminished. As the indicator light stopped flashing, both the Dream Ball and its interior quietened down.

Success! Torchic captured!
