Chapter 51 - The Man Who Shattered Time

A Mind Ahead of Its Time

Elias Thorne was never meant for the present.

Born to renowned physicists, Dr. Adrian and Eleanor Thorne, Elias grew up surrounded by equations, theories, and the pursuit of the impossible. While most children were learning the alphabet, Elias was solving complex mathematical problems. By age eight, he understood quantum mechanics better than most graduate students.

The world moved too slowly for him. Conversations dragged, school felt like a prison, and even reality itself seemed… incomplete.

He didn't just want to study time.

He wanted to master it.

By the time he was sixteen, he had been accepted into one of the most prestigious scientific programs in the world—a government-funded initiative focused on temporal physics. While others saw time as a fixed, linear force, Elias saw it as malleable, a river that could be redirected, manipulated, even broken.

But no one believed him.

His theories were dismissed as arrogance. His peers resented him, and his professors feared him. But that only made him more determined.

Because Elias didn't just want to prove them wrong.

He wanted to show them that time was his to command.

The Experiment That Shouldn't Have Happened

At twenty-two, Elias was at the forefront of a revolutionary project—a device capable of bending time, even in small increments. The project, known as The Chronos Initiative, was heavily classified, hidden deep within a government research facility.

It was meant to be a controlled experiment. A way to slow down, accelerate, or briefly loop time within a contained field. Nothing dangerous. Nothing radical.

But Elias wasn't interested in limits.

One night, long after the facility had shut down, Elias initiated an unauthorized test. He had modified the device—removed its safety restrictions, amplified its power.

He wasn't trying to observe time.

He was trying to tear through it.

The machine activated.

For a moment, he saw everything.

Past. Future. Fractured timelines, infinite possibilities. He felt himself pulled in every direction at once, his body stretched across different realities. It was agonizing. It was exhilarating.

But then—something went wrong.

The machine overloaded. The energy surged, destabilizing the flow of time itself. The lab imploded, collapsing into a singularity of broken moments.

And Elias Thorne was erased from history.

The Man Who Shouldn't Exist

When he awoke, he wasn't in the lab anymore.

He wasn't anywhere.

He saw himself—versions of himself—flickering through the years. He watched himself as a child, as an old man, as something else. He existed in a million different moments at once, yet he was nowhere.

Time had shattered.

And he had shattered with it.

For what felt like an eternity, he drifted between timelines, trapped in the in-between of existence. He saw events unfold in a thousand different ways. He saw the world destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed again. He saw versions of himself succeed, fail, die, and rise again.

Until, finally, he learned how to pull himself back.

It took years—maybe centuries. Time no longer made sense. But when he finally emerged, when he finally stepped back into the world, he was different.

He was no longer bound by time.

Time was bound by him.

A Ghost in the Machine

The world had changed when he returned. Decades had passed—at least in this timeline. He had no identity, no records. As far as the world was concerned, Elias Thorne had never existed.

That was fine.

Because he wasn't Elias anymore.

He was something beyond time.

With his new abilities, he could rewrite moments, sever events, accelerate or reverse a person's existence with a mere thought. He could steal seconds from others, erasing them from time itself.

But he had no purpose. No direction. Until the Harbingers found him.

Or rather, until he found them.

The Harbinger's Paradox

One day, while stepping through the fragmented echoes of time, Elias encountered a familiar presence—Lucas Vance.

At first, he thought it was a mistake. Lucas Vance shouldn't have known about him. He shouldn't have been able to see him moving through the folds of reality.

But Lucas wasn't surprised to see him.

"Ah," Lucas said, as if greeting an old friend. "Right on schedule."

Elias frowned. "You were expecting me?"

Lucas smirked. "You told me you'd be here."

That was impossible.

Or at least, it should have been.

Lucas continued. "I know what you are, Elias. You're a man without a past, without a future. But with us? You could have purpose."

Elias considered this. "And what would you have me do?"

Lucas's grin widened. "Rewrite history with us."

Elias didn't hesitate.

He had already seen a thousand possible futures.

And in almost all of them, he had already joined the Harbingers of Doom.

Chrono Reaver Is Born

Now, as Chrono Reaver, Elias Thorne is more than just a man. He is a force of time itself.

His abilities have expanded beyond what he once imagined. He can sever moments, erase events, freeze entire battles in place. He can force enemies to relive their worst memories on an endless loop or age them into dust with a single touch.

To him, the present is nothing more than a fleeting illusion. The past and future are his weapons.

And time itself?

It belongs to him.
