Chapter 2 - The Road to Viridian City

-----

The sun was just starting to rise, casting a golden glow across Pallet Town as Hiroshi still in Ash's body took his first steps into the world he had only known through a screen. Pikachu, ever uncooperative, trailed behind, its tail swishing in annoyance. The weight of his backpack, the sights of wild Pidgey fluttering in the distance, and the sound of the breeze in the grass all felt surreal. This wasn't a dream this was real.

"Okay, Pikachu, we need to work together if we're going to make it through this," Hiroshi said, hoping for some kind of positive response. Instead, Pikachu simply turned its head and scowled. Sparks crackled along its cheeks.

"Alright, no touching, I get it," Hiroshi sighed, but deep down, he was still excited. This was the journey every Pokémon fan dreamed of, and now it was his reality. The only problem was, he wasn't exactly 'Ash', and the challenges ahead wouldn't just be scripted events anymore.

---

As they continued along Route 1, Hiroshi tried to figure out how to connect with Pikachu. He knew that Ash had a notoriously rough start with his partner, but if he could somehow bridge that gap faster, maybe their journey could go more smoothly.

While thinking, his thoughts were interrupted by a sudden rustle in the bushes. His instincts kicked in, and he reached for a Poké Ball.

From the bushes emerged a flock of Spearow, their sharp beaks glinting menacingly in the light. Hiroshi's heart pounded. He knew what was coming Spearow were not friendly Pokémon, especially when provoked.

Before he could act, one of the Spearow dived toward him, screeching. "Pikachu, Thundershock!" Hiroshi yelled without thinking.

Pikachu glanced back at him, unimpressed, but the urgency of the situation made it act. Electricity surged through the air, hitting the Spearow square in the chest, sending it crashing to the ground. But that only seemed to anger the rest of the flock.

"Uh-oh." Hiroshi gulped. The swarm of Spearow charged toward them, and it didn't take a Pokémon Master to know what that meant they needed to run.

---

Hiroshi grabbed Pikachu and sprinted down the dirt path, the screeches of the Spearow echoing behind them. The skies darkened as the flock loomed above, and just like in the original story, the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

He could feel Pikachu's body tense in his arms, struggling as the tension grew. But then something strange happened something Hiroshi didn't remember from the original timeline. As the storm clouds gathered, a sense of power stirred in the air, unlike anything Hiroshi had ever felt.

And then, in the distance, high above the stormy clouds, a massive figure appeared. Its silhouette was majestic, with glowing golden light radiating from its body. Hiroshi's eyes widened in disbelief.

Ho-oh.

The legendary bird, known to be a sign of great destiny, soared gracefully through the sky, watching as Hiroshi fled with Pikachu in his arms. It felt like the bird was observing him not just watching Ash, but sensing 'him', Hiroshi.

The Spearow continued their relentless pursuit, but as Ho-oh glided overhead, a sudden burst of rain fell, causing the Spearow to falter, breaking their attack. It was as if the legendary Pokémon had intervened, though without making itself fully known.

Hiroshi gasped for breath as they finally reached the outskirts of Viridian City, the chaos behind them. He set Pikachu down, glancing back at the now-clear sky. "Ho-oh... That wasn't just a coincidence, was it?"

Pikachu's ears perked up, and it glanced at Hiroshi, as if sensing the same thing. There was something more going on here. It wasn't just about becoming a Pokémon Master anymore something was watching over him, or rather, something was watching the anomaly that had caused him to be here in the first place.

---

As they reached the Pokémon Center in Viridian City, Hiroshi took a moment to catch his breath. His encounter with Ho-oh had left him both excited and unnerved. Was this part of Ash's original journey, or was this something new, something related to him being here instead of Ash?

While Nurse Joy tended to Pikachu, Hiroshi sat in the waiting area, running over everything that had happened. His thoughts raced if Ho-oh had noticed him, then maybe other legendary Pokémon would too. Could this be connected to Arceus sensing his presence?

His thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of an unexpected figure. A woman dressed in a tattered cloak, her face hidden beneath a wide-brimmed hat, approached him. She moved with a sense of purpose, her steps deliberate.

"You're not from here, are you?" she asked in a low, cryptic voice.

Hiroshi blinked, caught off guard. "What do you mean? Of course, I'm from Pallet Town." He realized how unconvincing he sounded.

The woman's eyes gleamed from beneath the shadows of her hat. "You don't belong here. I can feel the distortion around you." Her words sent a chill down Hiroshi's spine.

"How do you—" he began, but the woman cut him off.

"Your journey has only just begun, but beware. The forces that govern this world are watching, and not all of them are kind." She glanced briefly at Pikachu, who was resting after the Spearow attack. "If you're not careful, you'll bring imbalance to the world."

With that cryptic warning, she turned and left the Pokémon Center, disappearing into the night. Hiroshi stared after her, the weight of her words pressing on him. What had he gotten himself into?

End of Chapter 2

In this chapter, Hiroshi faces his first real test as Ash when a flock of Spearow attacks, a familiar scene from the original series. However, the appearance of Ho-oh and the intervention of a mysterious figure hint at deeper forces at play, as Hiroshi's presence in Ash's body begins to draw attention from the legendary Pokémon of the world. With cryptic warnings and more questions, Hiroshi realizes that this journey may not follow the same path he once knew, and the stakes are much higher than simply becoming a Pokémon Master.
