Gladion led Daisy deeper into the grass area of the gym's ranch, where the Bug Pokémon and Fighting Pokémon lived.
The grassy field stretched wide, dotted with trees. Daisy's eyes darted around, taking in the sights. She spotted a cluster of Bug Pokémon, Weedle scooting along the ground, a Butterfree fluttering above.
Watching over them were a Scizor and a Kleavor. Daisy stared in awe at the Kleavor, its axe-like arms and rugged stone body unlike anything she'd seen before.
'Only Gladion has one of these in the three regions', she thought, her heart racing with excitement.
As they moved further, the trees opened into a clearing, and Daisy's jaw dropped.
In the center stood an outdoor gym setup, complete with dumbbells, ropes, and even a treadmill. About a dozen Pokémon were hard at work, their grunts and shouts filling the air.
A Hitmonlee practiced high kicks, a Hitmontop spun like a top, and a pair of Machoke lifted heavy weights with ease. Nearby, a Poliwrath punched a training bag, and a Mankey swung from a rope.
What caught Daisy's eye most was a Machamp and an Annihilape, both radiating power.
She recognized them instantly as part of Gladion's main team. The Machamp was a sight to behold, using two of its four arms to lift 39-kilo dumbbells as if they were feathers, while the other two clapped, encouraging the other Pokémon.
The Annihilape, with its ghostly aura, shadowboxed nearby, its fists glowing with energy. Daisy knew Gladion was the only trainer in the three regions with an Annihilape, a rare and fearsome Pokémon.
Machamp's voice boomed across the clearing, full of energy [Show your youth, my friends! Lift with the fire of a thousand suns! You can do more, unleash the power of your burning spirits!] He clapped his hands again, [Feel the sweat! Embrace the struggle! Let your muscles sing the song of victory!]
Daisy stifled a giggle. The Machamp's enthusiasm was infectious. Gladion noticed her reaction and smirked. "That's the personal training area for my Pokémon," he said. "And that there is the gym instructor and motivational speaker, Guy."
Daisy couldn't help but be amazed, but something else caught her attention. Her eyes widened as she spotted a small blue Pokémon running on a treadmill, its tiny legs moving at a blur. The treadmill was powered by a Pachirisu, whose electric sparks kept the machine running. "Is that a Riolu?" Daisy asked, her voice filled with awe.
Gladion nodded. "Yes. When he gets bigger, he'll join my main team as a Lucario."
Daisy's heart skipped a beat. Riolu were rare, and Lucario were, in her opinion, cool as heck. She knew how special they were, with their aura abilities.
The Riolu was a welcome gift when Gladion joined the Aura Guardian Corps, part of a deal with Koga and Agatha.
Guy spotted Zeus and Arsenal who had been trailing behind them. His eyes lit up like fireworks. [Come here, you two! Show these young ones the power of your youth!] he bellowed, flexing all four arms. [Lift those weights and let your spirits shine brighter than a blazing Charizard!]
Zeus and Arsenal exchanged a competitive glance, their rivalry flaring up. Wanting to show off, they each grabbed a set of dumbbells, trying to outdo the other.
The other Pokémon cheered, egged on by Guy's booming voice. [Yes! Feel the burn of your youthful power! Let the weights bow to your strength!]
Daisy laughed. Gladion sighed but didn't intervene, letting his Pokémon have their moment. "Alright, let's move to the next area," he said, gesturing for Daisy to follow.
As they walked, the air grew warmer, and Daisy felt a wave of heat wash over her. The grassy field gave way to a rocky, ash-strewn area that looked like a miniature volcano. "This is a artificial area made to resemble a volcano for the Fire Pokémon," Gladion explained. "Most of my mom's Pokémon live here."
Daisy's eyes widened as a group of Fire Pokémon came into view. A Ninetales prowled gracefully. A Charizard soared overhead, its wings casting a shadow. A Flareon bounded playfully, while a Slugma oozed along the ground, leaving a trail of molten rock. A Quilava scampered nearby. The power radiating from these Pokémon was incredible, and Daisy felt a mix of awe and respect.
Gladion led her to the rocky caves next. Smaller caves housed the gym's Rock and Ground Pokémon,Geodude floated lazily, an Onix coiled around a boulder, and a few Diglett popped in and out of the ground.
Daisy's gaze drifted to the largest cave.
"I guess that's where your Tyranitar lives," she said, pointing to the massive cave.
"Correct," Gladion replied. "The biggest cave for the biggest Tyranitar out there,Collosus."
Daisy's eyes moved to another cave, slightly smaller but still imposing. "And which Pokémon is in there?"
Gladion's lips curved into a mysterious smile. "A surprise for one of my future matches."
Daisy's eyes lit up. "Is it another never-before-seen evolution?"
Gladion didn't answer, just kept smiling, but Daisy did not know she was right. The cave housed Gladion's grandpa's Rhyhorn, which had evolved into a Rhyperior.
They moved on to a large pond in the center of the ranch. As they approached, a Milotic emerged from the water, its scales sparkling like jewels.
Mystique, made elegant gestures, striking poses as if showing off her beauty. She looked at Daisy expectantly, her eyes gleaming.
Gladion's voice spoke in Daisy's mind, startling her. 'She wants you to praise how beautiful she is.'
Daisy blinked, surprised by the telepathic message, but quickly recovered. "Wow, what a beautiful Milotic," she said, her voice full of genuine admiration. "Those scales look as shiny as any gem, and your graceful movements are like a dance. You're absolutely stunning!"
Mystique preened, clearly pleased, and swirled through the water in a graceful arc. Daisy smiled, amazed by the Pokémon's elegance. Gladion nodded approvingly, then pointed out other Water Pokémon in the pond—a school of Goldeen, many more milotics, a playful Poliwag, and a Seadra lurking in the depths.
As they turned to leave, a sudden Water Pulse shot from the pond, aimed straight at Gladion. He raised a hand, and a psychic barrier shimmered into place, deflecting the attack effortlessly. Mystique's tail lashed through the water, wrapping around something beneath the surface.
"Who was that?" Daisy asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Just a little troublemaker," Gladion said with a sigh.
