Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Vongrak.
Kyoka Pov.
"Alright, let's get this started! " Miyamura said from the stage. I had gotten him a microphone stand, which he adjusted to his height. So now he was standing alone on the stage that Momo had created at everyone's insistence, while we had arranged the chairs in the room in front of him.
Was all that trouble worth it just for one song? Maybe not, but we didn't have many options for entertainment, so we tended to exaggerate some situations. Ashido and Hagakure would probably push for a karaoke night after Miyamura sang, so it wouldn't be a complete waste.
"Come on, Miyamura!" Mina exclaimed excitedly as she raised her fist.
"I'm already recording everything," Taylor said, giving a thumbs-up as she placed her scroll on a stand in front of Miyamura. Apparently, they wanted to record it to send to the rest of the girls and Miyamura's mother. None of us really cared.
"Alright, prepare to be completely amazed!" Miyamura said with his usual arrogant smile, even taking the microphone out of its stand and starting to pose. I almost wanted to snort, but the other girls started cheering, especially Rose who was in the front row.
Finally, Miyamura grabbed his Scroll and paused for a few moments before looking at us.
"Did you chicken out, dog?" Bakugou mocked from behind.
"You wish." Miyamura snorted. "First, a warning: what you hear has nothing to do with how I feel, so don't overanalyze it. I just liked the way it sounded and decided to sing it." Miyamura warned, and I blinked. Was he referring to the choice of music? I blinked again before Miyamura smiled once more, and the music began to play.
(Bo Burnham – SHIT)
♫How do we feel out there tonight?
♫Ha, ha, ha
♫Yeah
♫I am not feeling well
My eyes widened at that introduction, because… what the hell?
♫Wake up at 11:30
♫Feeling like a bag of shit (oh no)
♫All my clothes are dirty, so I'm smelling like a bag of shit
♫Go to pour my coffee, and I miss my cup
♫OMG, that is just my luck
♫Look in the mirror say, "What's up you useless fuck?"
My mouth was completely open, not just because of the song lyrics, although yes, the lyrics were truly awful! The music was really lively, and even Miyamura seemed lively; he had a smile on his face as he sang it, his body swaying from side to side, moving his hips to the rhythm of the song as he seemed to genuinely enjoy the vibe of the song despite the lyrics! Just… what?
♫Are you feeling what I'm feeling?
♫I haven't had a shower in the last nine days (ah, ah)
♫Staring at the ceiling and waiting for this feeling to go away
♫But it won't go away
♫I'm not really feeling like I wanna get lit (tell us how you feeling)
♫Well, I feel like shit (oh, shit)
♫Feeling like a saggy, massive sack of shit (oh, shit)
♫Big 'ol motherfucking duffel bag of shit (oh, shit)
♫All day, all shit
♫I'm not really feeling like I wanna get lit (tell us how you feeling)
♫I'm feeling like shit
♫Ladies (yeah?)
♫Do you feel like shit?
♫Tell me, do you feel like shit? (Oh yeah)
♫Fellas (yeah?)
♫Are you feeling like shit?
♫Tell me, are you feeling like shit? (Oh yeah)
♫Ladies (yeah?)
♫Do you feel like shit?
♫Tell me, do you feel like shit? (Oh yeah)
♫Fellas (yeah?)
♫Are you feeling like shit?
♫Tell me, are you feeling like shit? (Oh yeah)
Miyamura finally finished singing, striking an exaggerated pose. He stood in profile, looking upwards, microphone held high, a wide smile on his face. He finally turned to face us without lowering his arm.
"And?" Miyamura asked, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
We all stared at him in disbelief. Did he… just sing that? Did he really just sing that?! Now that damn warning before he started singing made sense.
"Ha! I knew it! I knew she was going to sing something like that!!" Jinx shouted while cheering happily. I could hear Taylor sigh wearily.
"That was amazing! I mean, the lyrics weren't so great, they were pretty depressing, but the beat was awesome!" Hagakure said while bouncing in place.
"The lyrics were... a little worrying," Momo said, concerned.
"It was great," Jinx said playfully.
"It was fun," Sinon said, shrugging playfully.
"I'm glad you approved my creation," Miyamura said, bowing playfully.
"Wait, create? Like, you created it? Did you compose it and write the lyrics yourself? " I asked incredulously as I stood up. Miyamura smiled at me petulantly.
"Of course," Miyamura said simply. I looked at him incredulously.
"What the hell?! You're supposed to be good with swords and food, not also with music?! " I asked indignantly. "And I thought you sang, not that you knew how to compose and play other instruments!" I exclaimed in surprise. Miyamura smiled shamelessly.
"Oh, but I don't know how to play any instruments." Miyamura said proudly. I stopped and looked at him strangely.
"You just played a song," I said curtly. Miyamura nodded easily.
"Yes, and I don't know how to play any instruments." He repeated, shrugging. "I had to train, a lot, and that took up a lot of my time. I also had my studies and other obligations, so I didn't really have much free time."
"But music, musicals, was also a passion of mine, but I couldn't take instrument lessons, so I took singing lessons. I can sing; I had lessons for over a decade. I can read sheet music and musical things, but I can't play any instrument, not one, not even the most basic one."
"But I did have money, enough to pay small bands or groups to create and play whatever I wanted, and for the rights to those songs to be mine and all that. Actually, it was cheaper than I expected. About 50,000 to 80,000 yen per song." Miyamura said, shrugging. I blinked in disbelief.
"That—" I tried to say awkwardly. I mean, that sounded really feasible. I quickly started calculating the costs of writing, arranging, performing, and recording, and yeah, a freelancer, or a beginner band, or even someone with experience, would be around that price to record a song, especially if there's a contract to record several—"Wait, you have more original songs? " I asked incredulously.
Miyamura smiled slightly before playing the next one and Miyamura immediately began to sing.
(Da Vinci's Notebook – Enormous Penis)
♫Whenever life gets you down
♫Keeps you wearing a frown
♫And the gravy train has left you behind
A cappella?! Was he singing a cappella with recordings of his voice in the background?!
♫And when you're all out of hope
♫Down at the end of your rope
♫And nobody's there to throw you a line
Another depressing song while Miyamura sang it cheerfully? Did he have his own genre? He said not to think too much about what he wrote, but songs, especially those written by oneself, said a lot about their authors, even more so if they maintained a common theme.
♫If you ever get so low that you don't know which way to go
♫Come on and take a walk in my shoes
♫Never worry 'bout a thing, got the world on a string
♫'Cause I've got the cure for all of my blues (All of his blues)
♫I take a look at my enormous penis
He just-
♫And my troubles start a-meltin' away (Ba-doo-bop-bop)
♫I take a look at my enormous penis
♫And the happy times are coming to stay
♫I gotta sing and I dance when I glance in my pants
♫And the feeling's like a sunny day
♫I take a look at my enormous pe-ee-nis
♫And everything is goin' my way (Ba-doo-bop-bop)
"Okay, that's enough!" Yaomomo shouted, completely blushing. Jinx burst out laughing as Miyamura stopped the background music. I stared incredulously at Miyamura, who was smiling proudly.
"Do you have anything that wasn't inappropriate?! It seems like you created everything for those videos of yours! " I exclaimed incredulously.
"They're the best!" Jinx exclaimed happily while laughing.
"It was inappropriate!" Momo said, embarrassed.
"I liked the tone, it was catchy - Kero." Tsuyu said, tilting her head.
"I'd already given up on him, I knew it would end like this." Taylor sighed wearily.
"Oh come on, Izumi's songs are always fun." Rose laughed happily.
"It's better than many other things I've heard," Mai Zenin said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Hey, Midoriya-san, is it true that looking at your crotch makes you happy?" Polendina asked, tilting her head.
"W-what-!?" Midoriya yelled, completely red-faced.
"What did you just ask, you piece of junk!?" Bakugou exclaimed furiously.
"Well, he's the only man besides Izumi," Polendina said as if it were obvious, and I blushed slightly too.
"Don't you have something more appropriate? Something we can sing at the festival? " Sona asked, embarrassed. Miyamura smiled broadly and put on the next song. Oh no, I stood up quickly.
♫I got bitches all on my dick every day
♫Suckin' on my balls, lickin' on my balls-
I turned off the speakers, blushing furiously, interrupting Miyamura's song. The previous songs had walked a very thin line with inappropriateness, but this one crossed it completely with just two damn verses.
"What's wrong with you?!" I asked incredulously while blushing.
"Do you want a list?" Azula asked playfully.
"Oh come on! I wanted to hear the whole thing! " Mina complained while laughing loudly.
"Let's vote for it to continue!" Jinx added with the same excitement.
"Yes!" Hagakure added.
"So, can we eliminate Miyamura from the idea of singing?" Ravel asked dryly.
"Oh come on, he can sing! We just need to find something suitable... if he even has anything," Sinon said uncertainly before looking at Miyamura. "Do you have something suitable?" Sinon asked, puzzled. Miyamura's smile only widened.
"No! I'm going to choose the next song!" I growled as I snatched his scroll away, Miyamura laughed amusedly.
"Okay, okay, I'll sing something appropriate that you choose, if you choose something appropriate." Miyamura said playfully, I froze and stared at Miyamura's scroll as if it were a damn bomb.
"Hey! If she gets to choose, I want a turn!" Jinx exclaimed. With that, the others also began to scream loudly.
"Okay, okay, someone go first!" I exclaimed as I handed the scroll to someone else. Rose was the first to grab it and squealed with excitement.
"Ha! First! " Rose said cheerfully as the others groaned loudly, but they all quickly accepted it and returned to their seats as Rose began to look at Miyamura's scroll, then she started looking at them and her eyes grew larger and larger. "What?! Izumi, you have like... hundreds of songs here! Did you create all of them?! You have this and you only sing musicals when we're alone?!" Ruby asked incredulously and fearfully as her scroll trembled. I froze and turned to look at Miyamura who was just smiling without giving any answer.
Hundreds of songs… he… had he really created hundreds of songs!? At only 18 years old?! While training like a hero?! What the hell?! It was unfair! So unfair!!
And I wasn't the only one who stared in shock at Miyamura; the others were also staring incredulously at the human-shaped monster holding the microphone.
"Are you going to choose a song?" Miyamura asked playfully.
"Oh yes, pick your first one, Taylor!" Rose said quickly and nervously as she handed the scroll to Taylor, who just huffed before quickly looking at the scroll.
"Hero?" Taylor asked curiously. Miyamura shrugged. Taylor just raised an eyebrow before the music started playing.
(Hero - RWBY)
♫Take my hand
♫I'm here to protect you
♫Nothing will stop me
♫Understand
♫There's no sacrifice
♫That I won't make
♫I'll risk it all
♫To keep you safe
♫Trust me to be strong
♫I'll be your hero
♫Just hold on
Oh… it really was a song about heroism. And a rather solemn one at that.
♫I would die
♫Without regret, I'd offer up my life
♫With zero reservations
♫I would fly
♫Into the sun
♫If that would keep our dream alive
♫Deliver you from harm
♫Shelter in my arms
♫The fear will surely fade
♫Know right now the plan I made
♫Will guide us home
♫We'll survive this storm
Oh… that mentality just hit hard. That level of self-sacrifice was truly commendable.
♫I will fight
♫For you no matter how I am despised
♫Portrayed as cruel and heartless
♫I am might
A reference to All Might?
♫I am power
♫I'm due process
♫I will smite
♫Our enemies destroy
♫Mettle I'll deploy
♫No chance that I won't take
♫My oath to you I won't forsake
♫Hope's not gone
♫Just hold on
♫Take my hand
♫I'm here to protect you
♫Nothing will stop me
♫Understand
♫There's no sacrifice
♫That I won't make
♫I'll risk it all
♫To keep you safe
♫Trust me to be strong
♫I'll be your hero
♫Just hold on
♫What if it's true as they say
♫That I don't have a heart
♫That I'm more a machine than a man?
♫What would that change?
♫Would it matter at all?
♫I've made my plan
I frowned slightly at that. What was Miyamura really referring to? Perhaps to that whole problem he had with that selfless thing of his? The one that prevented him from naturally showing his emotions on his face?
♫Hearts and minds may not agree
♫Emotions topple strategy
♫You can't believe
♫In honesty
♫That your children can win a war
♫Take my hand
♫I'm here to protect you
♫Nothing will stop me
♫Understand
♫There's no sacrifice
♫That I won't make
♫I'll risk it all
♫To keep you safe
♫Trust me to be strong
♫I'll be your hero
♫Just hold on
Well, I'll admit it, Miyamura can sing, and quite well. The song was good, even though one of the last lines didn't make much sense without the proper context, but still, it was a good song. And everyone else quickly let him know.
"That was amazing!" Rose and Mina squealed excitedly at the same time.
"Wow, you really know how to sing," Sinon murmured incredulously.
"And pretty good all around, especially a song about heroism? It was kind of inspiring," Yaomomo said honestly.
"What a surprise, really." Mai Zenin said, impressed. Azula beside her nodded.
"Yeah, he really can sing like that, and he still insists on singing those slow musical numbers." Azula said dryly. I grimaced. Really a Theater Kid, singing musical opera when he could sing something like this? He really was a lost cause.
"It was really good," Taylor said with a small smile. "Whose turn is it?" she asked as she lifted the scroll. The argument started again, and this time, Yaomomo ended up with the scroll, much to her surprise.
"Criminal?! You have a song called Criminal?" Momo asked in surprise as she checked the song list, Miyamura snorted.
"It's not even remotely close to what you think," Miyamura said.
"Sing it!" Mina cheered.
"Yes, let him sing it!" Jinx excitedly encouraged.
"If you want to." Izumi said, shrugging her shoulders.
Britney Spears - Criminal
♫She is a hustler, she's no good at all
♫She is a loser, she's a bum-bum-bum-bum
♫She lies, she bluffs, she's unreliable
♫She is a sucker with a gun-gun-gun-gun
♫I know you told me I should stay away
♫I know you said she's just a dog astray-ay
♫She is a bad girl with a tainted heart
♫And even I know this ain't smart
♫But, mama, I'm in love with a criminal
♫And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical
♫Mama, please, don't cry, I will be alright
♫All reason aside, I just can't deny, I love that girl
A love song?! A damn love song!? Falling in love with a criminal?! What happened to the joke songs and all sorts of suggestive content, and how did they go from that to this?
♫She is a villain by the devil's law
♫She is a killer just for fun-fun-fun-fun
♫That woman's a snitch and unpredictable
♫She's got no conscious, she got none-none-none-none
Wow, just… wow, I guess Miyamura really is a boy after all. I mean, it's not like he wasn't before, but his attitude was so different from the boys I knew at school.
The only thing Miyamura had as a boy was that he liked to cook, and I wasn't even trying to sound feminist by saying that! It's just that if I didn't add something, Miyamura wouldn't have anything masculine about him! He was so far from the average man that it was disconcerting, but it worked for Miyamura, though I didn't think he'd also create love songs like this.
I mean, he likes musicals, and he cried like three times while watching those old movies, and he'd also get into arguments about ships… and… if not, I'd better forget everything I just thought, the song was completely Miyamura's. I really don't want to remember hearing him ramble about Enemies to Lovers.
"Wow, that was a complete change from before." Sinon sighed in surprise.
"It was sweet, even though she was a criminal-kero," Tsuyu said, bowing her head.
"Was the song about Azula?" Rose asked with a mischievous smile, Miyamura snorted loudly.
"No," Miyamura said before looking away. Azula just snorted as she crossed her arms. "Who's next?" he asked quickly, and with that, we redistributed Miyamura's scroll, which ended up in Sinon's hands.
"I Wanna Be Your Slave? Is this supposed to be for Dustiness? " Sinon mocked as she looked at Miyamura's scroll; he just laughed.
"Play it," he said simply. Sinon looked at him before shrugging and the music began.
(I Wanna Be Your Slave – Måneskin)
I wanna be your slave, I wanna be your master
♫I wanna make your heartbeat run like roller coasters
♫I wanna be a good boy, I wanna be a gangster
♫'Cause you could be the beauty and I could be the monster
♫I love you since this morning, not just for aesthetics
♫I wanna touch your body, so fucking electric
♫I know you're scared of me, you say that I'm too eccentric
♫I'm crying all my tears and that's fucking pathetic
♫I wanna make you hungry, then I wanna feed ya
♫I wanna paint your face like you're my Mona Lisa
♫I wanna be a champion, I wanna be a loser
♫I'll ev е n be a clown 'cause I just wanna amuse ya
♫I wanna be your sex toy, I wanna be your teacher
♫I wanna be your sin, I wanna be a preacher
♫I wanna make you love me, then I wanna leave ya
♫'Cause, baby, I'm your David and you're my Goliath
I nodded my head to the catchy song; it definitely had something to do with sexuality, or at least with the duality of romantic relationships, if I understood it correctly. It was much better than anything that had come before and definitely not as over-the-top as the previous tracks. Besides, hard rock was definitely better than everything else.
The girls seemed more excited by that song and quickly another person was chosen to pick, curiously, Todoroki was the chosen one and she began to look at the scroll slowly.
"Torna a Casa?" Todoroki asked, confused.
"Oh, that one's in Italian," Miyamura said easily, and we froze again.
"You can sing in other languages?!" Mina asked, surprised. Miyamura shrugged.
"There's a mix of English and Japanese, but there are also songs in Italian, French, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. There are some in other languages, but my pronunciation isn't very good in them," Miyamura said, somewhat embarrassed. We continued to stare at him in disbelief.
"Wait, didn't you only speak Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese?" Jinx asked in surprise. Miyamura shrugged.
"Fluent," Miyamura corrected. "I know a little bit of everyone else's basics. Enough to create music, but not enough to speak it with a native." Miyamura hummed, and I blinked slightly; that was still impressive.
"I want that one." Todoroki finally said, and Miyamura nodded.
"Wait! We'll miss the lyrics! " Hagakure complained. Miyamura frowned slightly.
"Hmm, I think I have the lyrics in one of my notebooks in my room, but I didn't include a translation, so I can't help you with that right now," he said with a grimace. The others complained.
"I also want to hear him speak in Italian-kero," Tsuyu said.
"I second that!" Mina added cheerfully. Miyamura shrugged, cleared his throat as if trying to strain it before nodding in Todoroki's direction. She pressed the button and the music began to play.
(Torna A Casa – Måneskin)
♫Cammino per la mia città ed il vento soffia forte
♫Mi son lasciato tutto indietro e il Sole all'orizzonte
♫Vedo le case da lontano, hanno chiuso le porte
♫Ma per fortuna ho la sua mano e le sue guance rosse
We all listened, mesmerized, as Miyamura sang in Italian. The deep, slightly raspy voice he used was ridiculously captivating. I didn't understand a word of the lyrics, but the Italian pronunciation, the words, the sounds were still mesmerizing in their own way, especially as the song went on and Miyamura's voice grew louder. Oh, now I understood the damn allure of Romance languages in songs.
"Now something in French!" Mina exclaimed excitedly, her cheeks flushed.
"I have no idea whose turn it is, but have her look up 'Le Bien Qui Fait Mal,'" Miyamura said playfully. To everyone's surprise, Sitri grabbed the scroll bar and quickly searched for the song.
(Le bien qui fait mal - Mozart L'Opéra Rock)
♫Mais d'où wind l'émotion étrange
♫Who fascinated me autant qu'elle me dérange?
♫Je frissonne, poignardé par le beau
♫C'est comme dans l'âme le couteau
♫La blessure traverse mon cœur
♫Et j'ai la joie dans la douleur
♫I am poisoned by this poison
♫À en perdre la raison
Oh, that sounded like pop rock, and like the previous song, it was quite mesmerizing. Even without knowing the lyrics, the pronunciation and intonation of the words were really pleasant to listen to. It was dangerous.
"Since we're on the subject of languages, it's my turn now," Azula said easily. "You said you had some Chinese?" Azula asked as she took the Scroll and began to look at it.
"Oh yes, look for Samudrartha," Miyamura said excitedly. "I've improved my pronunciation thanks to you." Azula just kept searching until she found the song. And Miyamura began to sing.
I could only blink in confusion throughout the entire song. I mean… the song was great, it sounded solemn, and important, like it was part of an epic, something significant. But I didn't understand a single word she was singing, and looking around, I wasn't the only one; everyone seemed genuinely confused, except for Azula, who just smiled broadly.
"That was wonderful, Izumi," Azula purred. "Remind me to record that so I have it," she said simply before tossing the scroll at someone else.
"My turn!" Shirakumo growled as she snatched the Scroll after we praised Miyamura. Most of us shrugged. No one batted an eye at her tone; it was something we were used to by now. I mean, we were used to Bakugou first, and she yelled way louder than Shirakumo. "Popular Monster, let's go with this one," Shirakumo said. I raised an eyebrow at that name.
(Falling In Reverse - Popular Monster)
♫I wake up every morning with my head up in a daze
♫I'm not sure if I should say this, fuck, I'll say it anyway
♫Everybody tries to tell me that I'm going through a phase
♫I don't know if it's a phase, I just wanna feel okay, yeah
♫I battle with depression, but the question still remains
♫Is this post-traumatic stressing or am I suppressing rage?
♫And my doctor tries to tell me that I'm going through a phase
♫Yeah, it's not a fuckin' phase, I just wanna feel okay
♫Okay, yeah, I struggle with this bullshit every day
♫And it's probably 'cause my demons simultaneously rage
♫It obliterates me, disintegrates me, annihilates me
♫'Cause I'm about to break down
♫I'm searching for a way out
♫I'm a liar, I'm a cheater, I'm a non-believer
♫I'm a popular, popular monster
♫I break down
♫Falling into love now
♫With falling apart
♫I'm a popular, popular monster
My eyes widened. Was that… metalcore? Maybe alternative metal or even rap metal! I didn't know Izumi could sing something like that! Most of the songs he'd sung up until now were subgenres of rock or pop, but this was something else entirely. Even the lyrics were so... profound. They definitely dealt with depression, and that... was really deep, and it wasn't something I'd ever seen Miyamura perform, especially not with the emotion he was showing while singing the song.
That… was incredible. I blushed slightly as I tried to process the image of Miyamura singing something like that. Now that I could see it, Miyamura's aesthetic made perfect sense if it was because of this kind of music! The large number of piercings, the long hair he refused to cut, the baggy clothes he always wore!
No, it's too soon to know! I stood up and snatched the scroll as soon as Miyamura finished singing.
"Do you have something similar?!" I asked quickly while hiding my blush. Miyamura hummed.
"A lot ? Look for 'Voices in My Head' or 'The Drug in Me Is You,'" Miyamura said. I frowned slightly before deciding on the second one, 'The Drug in Me Is You' Then I looked at Miyamura as the song started playing.
(Falling in Reverse — The Drug in me is you)
♫I heard a knock upon my door the other day
♫I opened it to find death staring in my face
♫The feel of mortal stalking still reverberates
♫Everywhere I go, I drag this coffin just in case
♫My body's trembling, sends shivers down my spine
♫Adrenaline kicks in, shifts into overdrive (Drive)
♫Your secrets keep you sick, your lies keep you alive
♫Snake eyes every single time you roll with crooked dice
♫I felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down
♫The kind of darkness that haunts a hundred-year-old house
♫I wrestle with my thoughts, I shook the hand of doubt
♫Running from my past, I'm praying: "Feet, don't fail me now"
♫I've lost my goddamn mind, it happens all the time
♫I can't believe I'm actually meant to be here
♫Trying to consume, the drug in me is you
♫And I'm so high on misery, can't you see?
A post-hardcore song?! It was definitely punk rock! Did Miyamura come up with that?! I really didn't want to believe that Miyamura was capable of creating something like that. I blushed deeply as I tried to ignore my pounding heart.
Fuck! I hated myself for being weak in the face of punk rock singers! This is my parents' fault! Miyamura was still that damn bastard idiot, but while he was singing I couldn't help but see him differently, even if only for a few seconds before the song ended and the idiot smiled with that characteristic petulance and arrogance of his.
After me, the next girls took their turns. The songs maintained that rhythm; they were mostly rock, but sometimes one of the girls would choose something from pop or other genres. Miyamura's repertoire was truly impressive, especially if he had actually written all those songs.
So, the songs were more than acceptable, some were incredible, except for 'Clean It Up'. We're not talking about 'Clean It Up'; Polendina chose it because it seemed cute, but it wasn't cute at all. No, I thought we'd left those degenerate Miyamura songs behind, but apparently not.
It was like Russian roulette; nobody knew what we'd be choosing, or a normal song, or something like that. Just no. Luckily, we all got a turn, and there wasn't another accident like that.
"And that's it, right? " Miyamura asked with an amused smile, though I could see the sweat on his face. He had several water bottles around him to stay hydrated. I almost felt sorry for him. He'd sung nearly 20 songs in a row. Luckily, his aura was keeping his vocal cords in perfect condition.
"Um…" Yaomomo said shyly. "I mean, Miyamura has certainly proven he can sing, but so far all the songs have been in English, Italian, French, and even Chinese. Not to be a killjoy, but… shouldn't we sing something in Japanese? I don't think everyone who attends knows enough English to understand the lyrics. The point was to relax them, not stress them out." She pointed out, and we all froze before groaning.
I mean, Present Mic was our English teacher, and we were expected to learn it fluently enough to be able to talk to other people. It wasn't unusual, and in fact, it was quite common in our chosen profession to occasionally work abroad, or with foreign heroes or similar things, so English was really necessary.
So everyone in our class knew English, maybe not as well as Taylor, whose native language it was, but enough to have been able to understand all the letters so far with ease.
Well, there was also 'Clean It Up', which had a part in Japanese, but it seems everyone wants to forget the lyrics of that song and so do I, so I didn't say anything.
"Do you have anything in Japanese?" Taylor asked with a sigh as she looked at her husband, Miyamura snorted.
"I said yes, half the songs have to be in Japanese, it's just that you guys chose wrong." Miyamura snorted, I clicked my tongue and threw his own Scroll.
"Fine, pick something." I huffed. Miyamura smiled broadly. "Something appropriate." I hissed sharply. Miyamura rolled his eyes.
"What a spoilsport." He huffed as he started searching for a song before stopping. "You know what? I've got the perfect song." He said with a smile. "This song really makes my throat hurt, but it's worth it." Miyamura grinned before clearing his throat and then gently massaging it.
I looked at him worriedly. Hurting his throat wasn't something I wanted to do, but I stopped myself from saying anything. He knew what he was doing to his own body… I hoped. If not, I hoped his aura, his Deer, or Recovery Girl would heal everything properly.
"Alright, this song is called Usseewa." Miyamura said before the song began.
(Ado - Usseewa)
♫tadashisa to wa orokasa to wa
(What is rightness? What is stupidity?)
♫sore ga nanika misetsukete yaru
(I will show you what they are)
♫chicchana koro kara yuutousei
(I was an honor student being young)

I frowned slightly. Was that supposed to be something? He kept his vocal range below his normal voice, maintaining the pitch despite playing with his voice. I couldn't see what was so special about it. Even the lyrics were... normal? I watched Miyamura take a deep breath as he leaned forward.
♫ Huuuuh??
Several of us, almost all of us, including me, jumped in surprise at the loud, heart-rending scream that came out of Miyamura; it was more like a roar of fury and annoyance that came from the bottom of his throat rather than a scream.

My eyes widened at the lyrics; it was impossible not to analyze them and compare them to Miyamura, especially since they suited him so well! Rebellion and contempt were the words that came to mind when I heard those lyrics. Rebellion against society and monotony, contempt for common sense. It was impossible not to compare it to Miyamura and his attitude!

Those desperate, emotional screams—it's rare to see a singer so personally involved with a song, but the emotion Miyamura poured into those screams was simply… personal. I couldn't see it any other way. It was simply… incredible. I was truly speechless.
"So?" Miyamura asked with a petulant smile, his voice sounding slightly hoarse after those shouts. Now he really understood his concern about his voice. He seemed to sense it as he grimaced, grabbed a nearby water bottle, and began to drink heavily.
That was enough to wake everyone up and they all started screaming at the same time. I grimaced at the shouting, but I couldn't really argue with what each of them was saying. The song was incredible, there was absolutely no doubt about that.
I really still couldn't wrap my head around the idea that Miyamura, that damn Izumi Miyamura, was posting songs about Iraqi terrorist locusts instead of uploading this… this kind of song! He had dozens of original songs that hadn't been uploaded! It was—it was—it was a complete waste!
"That was incredible! Holy shit, yes!" Jinx exclaimed excitedly, bursting into laughter. "The screams, the music, the lyrics! Everything is perfect! Izumi has to sing that song at the festival!" Jinx demanded, my eyes widening.
"A song that practically insults society? Yeah, I'm sure it'll sound great if it's sung by some UA students." I said dryly. Jinx's smile only widened.
"I know! It'll be amazing!" Jinx exclaimed, I just sighed.
"Oh, we definitely have to sing that," Shirakumo said, to my surprise, and she wasn't the only one. Bakugou also had a huge, wild smile on his face. Although she definitely wouldn't say anything good about Miyamura, she had seen that he liked some songs, but he always clicked his tongue and looked away.
"Despite the lyrics, that was... pretty good. I didn't know... screaming could be used in a song." Momo said, her eyes wide. I looked at her with pity. Oh, poor little rich girl. It's best not to mention the existence of certain musical genres to her.
"Just good?! It was amazing!!" Ruby exclaimed excitedly as she bounced with excitement.
"It's a good song, but like Jiro said, I don't think Aizawa-sensei will let us use it," Taylor said with a sigh.
"Besides, the idea was to dance to it, I don't think even Ashido could dance anything presentable with that," Sinon snorted mockingly.
"I could try it!" Mina said excitedly.
"Don't you have... something more normal?" Asuna asked with an apologetic smile. Miyamura just snorted.
"I have many more, but I've been singing for... almost an hour now, even with Aura, my throat is starting to get tired, especially after Usseewa," Miyamura said dryly. That stopped everyone in their tracks, and they all grimaced. "But I'll sing one more. Actually... I doubt it's appropriate, but I can say I identify with this song," Miyamura said, winking at us. We stopped and focused on him once more. "The next song is called Bling-Bang-Bang-Born," Miyamura said playfully. What... the heck was that name? The music started playing.

Arrogant! The song was about his arrogance! Miyamura was arrogant to the core, confident in his abilities, and had absolutely no shame in boasting about them, even to the point of showing off arrogantly when necessary. But to create a damn song about his strength?! That damn idiot was even more arrogant than I thought!

(To the next, to the top of the world)
My eyes widened slightly at the change in everything; there were so many textures in his voice, it was truly an incredible combination that worked so well. And then there were the lyrics. Arrogant, truly arrogant, the whole song was arrogant, and yet, it sounded incredible. Damn you, Miyamura.

♫To the next, to the ichiban ue
(To the next, to the top of the world)
We stared in disbelief at Miyamura as he began to dance, and not a normal dance, it was simply… ridiculous, but he still did it with the same arrogant smile as he continued to sing.
I raised both my bent arms in front of him with my fists closed, and then I moved them from side to side while my legs also bent in the opposite direction as I went down and then up again.
Simply… what?

"Arrogant!" someone exclaimed loudly. Miyamura just smiled broadly.
"It's not arrogance if it's true," he scoffed.
"No, still arrogant," I said dryly. Miyamura laughed.
"I mean, the song was made by the same person who said, 'From now on, I am unbeatable!! I am the one who stands at the pinnacle of all the races.'" Mai mocked, and we all looked at Izumi in disbelief.
"It wouldn't surprise me, I still remember that phrase he said, 'Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Honored One'." Sinon mocked, I snorted loudly while smiling, Miyamura didn't even seem embarrassed, he just smiled even wider and his eyes sparkled with amusement.
"They're still true." Miyamura said playfully, and we all snorted at the same time.
"The amount of ego and arrogance you have is limitless." Shirakumo mocked, and Miyamura shrugged.
"So? The song?" Miyamura asked.
"It was incredible! And the dancing too! It's so catchy! I felt like dancing to them! " Mina said happily before standing up. "Bling-Bang-Bang, Bling-Bang-Bang, Bling-Bang-Bang-Born!" Mina repeated playfully as she danced from side to side. Miyamura's rabbits immediately joined in, and Mina just laughed louder. Rose quickly joined her, dragging Polendina along. The three of them began to dance surrounded by rabbits, while the others started to cheer. I huffed loudly.
"Very well! Get down, Miyamura! You can't sing anymore, but we can still have a karaoke night!" Tooru exclaimed happily.
"""Yes!!!""" several of the girls
"Didn't we have to decide whether Izumi was going to sing at the festival or not?" Azula asked mockingly.
""""He will sing!!"""" half of them said, staring intently at Miyamura. Miyamura smiled mockingly.
"Whenever I can sing-"
"You can't decide what to sing," Taylor interjected curtly. Miyamura pouted at his wife. "Jiro, you're in charge. Get together with Izumi and decide what we're going to perform. Make a shortlist and we can all decide. He said he has a lot of songs; if you have time, you can listen to them or decide on something completely different," Taylor said without hesitation. My eyes widened.
"In charge?!" I asked, surprised and shocked. Taylor blinked and cleared her throat.
"If you want to, of course." She corrected herself. "You can refuse. I know putting up with Izumi for long periods of time is torture. There are so many of us, we have to take turns so we don't go crazy." She said, smiling.
"Ouch." Miyamura said dryly. I laughed.
"Don't worry, now that I know he can sing things other than musicals, he's become marginally more bearable." I sneered. Miyamura rolled his eyes before grinning and tossing the microphone to one of the girls.
"Alright, now it's your turn," Miyamura said easily.
"Oh yes!!" Hagakure shouted as he raised the microphone high and ran towards the stage.
"We have classes early tomorrow, we shouldn't be here so long," Sitri said with a frown.
"That's exactly why we must do it!" Mina exclaimed loudly.
"B-but-" Momo tried to say to support Sitri, I snorted.
"Give up, they won't calm down until you do." I said while shaking my head, the two girls could only sigh wearily.
"I've got snacks!" Miyamura said as he pulled things out of his shadows. Seriously, how much junk food did a man need to have so much of it there? Especially chocolate?
And just like that, we had an impromptu karaoke session. And despite Momo and Sitri's reluctance, they both joined in and actually sang, just like everyone else around us. Even Bakugou was forced to sing by Midoriya. That girl was really terribly whipped
Even Shirakumo sang, although it was more of a forced situation; after making fun of how we all sang, we pushed her onto the stage and forced her to sing.
Yes, we went to bed really late, and yes, we all woke up with dark circles under our eyes from being half asleep in class. Except for that idiot Miyamura and his endless stamina. The little strength we had left, we used to glare at a very arrogant Miyamura who seemed as cool as a cucumber. Damn bastard.
Especially since, for some reason, I remembered agreeing to sing some kind of duet with him at the festival. Damn.
Author's Notes: Wow, 8k words is still a lot! Especially since I had to cut back a lot of what I wanted to add so it wouldn't be too long, and because of a lack of time, but I'm still happy with the length!
And for those who haven't noticed, this chapter has been planned from the beginning! I've been waiting over 200 chapters to write this and I enjoyed every word, like I said, I don't regret anything! I hope you enjoyed it anyway.
Author's notes: There are a lot of song lyrics, and the formatting doesn't help, sorry if it's difficult to read!
