I paced Nikolai's bedroom, trying to stay calm. Somehow, I managed to sleep a few hours last night, but I'd been wide awake since daybreak, panicking over what was happening to Alya.
I forced a deep breath. There was no doubt in my mind that Nikolai would save my twin. I thought of him at his desk, so intense, intimidating other people into doing what he wanted. He got shit done, that was for sure. A small group of Russian traffickers was nothing for Don Kuznetsov, my unhinged and crafty mafioso.
My? I bit my lip, my chest swelling with a heavy sigh. Yes, I was clearly in deep shit when it came to this man.
Alya's arrival needed to serve as a reminder of my priorities: protecting my family. As soon as Alya was safely returned home, I could concentrate on getting Nikolai to drop his revenge against Sergio. I didn't want Ivie hurt, either.
But this had to wait until after Alya was safe, away from the Russian traffickers.
And where was Nikolai?
