As night approached, Mirabella requested the maids to bring food to her room. She was afraid that Claudius would drag her away and bury her in the sand in the name of training.
She had heard of daughters-in-law facing domineering mothers-in-law, but here she was, fated to deal with a bitchious father-in-law.
"Achoo!" Mirabella sneezed again, her nose starting to run.
The food in her mouth splattered from the sneeze. Picking up a napkin, she cleaned her mouth and drank a pot of boiled water brought by Heron.
She sighed and placed the spoon back into the bowl, feeling the food had gone too bland and cold. Even though the fountain water hadn't been cold earlier, soaking in it felt cool and soothing. But once night fell, the chill had taken hold, and now she was thoroughly caught by a cold.
