Chapter 791: The Might of the Gold-Banded Staff
Deep within the jungle.
Mo Yu's gaze was fixed upon the base of a massive tree, where a dark, armored figure sat silently within the suffocating veil of deathly aura. With every breath it took, that death energy surged into its body like roaring dragons, amplifying the oppressive might that radiated outward.
As Mo Yu watched, the creature's hollow eyes suddenly opened. Inside its sockets whirled twin vortices of gray-black mist, sucking in even the ambient aura. Ordinary cultivators wouldn't last a heartbeat under that stare—their life force would be devoured completely.
Though it had no trace of intelligence in its gaze, its mere presence emanated an unsettling malice. The sense of danger it carried far surpassed any spirit beast Mo Yu had encountered before.
The half-step ninth-rank Beast Spirit slowly rose, joints cracking as shadowy energy billowed around it. Despite its stiff appearance, its movements were fluid and explosive—each shift like a thunderclap.
"Roar!"
Its hollow eyes locked onto Mo Yu. A guttural sound escaped its throat, infused with power enough to shake the soul.
"Not bad," Mo Yu said lightly. "But your beast heart will be mine today."
The creature didn't comprehend his words, but it sensed his killing intent. Death surged within its eyes as its roar deepened to a ferocious growl.
Boom!
A burst of blood-chilling wind erupted, leveling everything in its path. Trees hundreds of meters tall crumpled to dust as the Beast Spirit shot forward like a streak of black lightning.
It moved with blinding speed, crossing the distance in an instant. Its fist swung out, the air howling as torrents of death energy erupted. From afar, it resembled a colossal dragon of darkness tearing through the air toward Mo Yu.
Wherever it passed, the ground split apart, leaving chasms that vanished into shadow. Anything that stood in its path was pulverized.
The full might of a half-step ninth-rank—the strength of something standing just shy of the divine.
But before that terrifying blow could reach him, Mo Yu lifted his arm.
A flash of golden-violet radiance blazed across the horizon. The skies trembled as a massive spectral palm appeared, shimmering with the light of the Heaven-Shaking Divine Arm.
Boom!
The death dragon slammed into the colossal palm, space warping from the impact. A shockwave erupted like divine thunder, tearing through the surroundings.
Yet, as the light dimmed, the Beast Spirit stood unscathed. The ground around its feet cracked but it hadn't retreated an inch.
Roar!
Its eyes glowed darker, death aura churning wildly. The creature lunged once again, gathering energy in its fanged mouth. Within seconds, the surrounding air twisted, the pressure distorting space itself.
Mo Yu's expression hardened. The energy gathering there could annihilate even an eighth-rank Supreme in one strike.
Boom!
A beam of death erupted, roaring through the air like a cannon of destruction.
Mo Yu clenched his golden arm, muscles swelling with power. Vast violet-gold energy surged through him, igniting the sky.
"Heaven-Shaking Divine Arm—King Ape's Fist!"
A massive violet-gold ape's fist manifested before him, colliding head-on with the death beam.
The collision shattered the heavens. The forest below was obliterated, leveled into ash.
From afar, Cai Lin and the others saw the explosion tear through the sky, their faces paling. If Mo Yu couldn't overcome this monster, their hunt would fail.
Boom!
The hundred-meter fist was hurled back. Mo Yu shot backward through the air, his aura shaken yet intact. But the creature, though forced to retreat several hundred meters, stood firm—barely wounded.
Cai Lin's heartbeat faltered. "It shrugged off his attack?"
Even Han Yue stood frozen. For the first time, they had seen Mo Yu momentarily suppressed. The Beast Spirit's might defied imagination.
Roar!
The monster let out another shriek of fury, dark energy pouring from its body. It stomped onto the air and blurred forward like a phantom, its claws outstretched.
But Mo Yu didn't falter. His lips curved faintly.
Black eyes glinting coldly, he raised his gleaming arm once more. "You like fists?"
He stepped forward—then launched another attack.
"King Ape's Fist!"
One fist. Two. Three.
Each punch roared like thunder, his entire body blazing violet-gold.
"Three consecutive blows?" Han Yue gasped. "That's almost identical to the Blood Tiger Clan's top martial art—the Triple Demon Fist!"
Cai Lin's pupils dilated. Every King Ape's Fist struck with the strength of a perfected divine art. Now, with three in sequence—and fused into one—its destructive force was boundless.
Mo Yu smirked as the energies merged before him.
"Ape King—Triple Burst!"
The fused giant fist slammed downward, a violet-gold meteor crashing through the void.
Boom!
The earth split and mountains crumbled. The Beast Spirit's massive body was driven deep into the ground, its armor fractured.
Another thunderclap followed as two more fists hammered down like divine judgment, each blow flattening it further until half its form was buried. The force rippled outward, turning kilometers of forest to dust.
The others watching from afar were stunned speechless.
But Han Yue's voice trembled. "Even that might not kill it…"
He was right.
From the smoking depths, an explosion of dark light erupted. The Beast Spirit's broken form shot upward, wailing furiously. Though grievously injured—its shoulder shattered, death aura leaking like smoke—it still refused to fall.
"Relentless beast," Mo Yu muttered, his tone weary but resolute.
The creature's rage boiled to madness. Death energy surged skyward as it pounced again, its claws slicing the air apart.
Mo Yu exhaled softly. "Enough."
He raised his palm—and summoned the black staff.
A simple, plain rod appeared in his grasp. Yet the moment it surfaced, the world seemed to bow beneath its weight.
The Primordial Gold-Banded Staff.
Though its surface looked like ordinary iron, its presence crushed the air. The ground beneath Mo Yu fractured from the sheer density of power pulsing through it. Even his strengthened arms trembled slightly under its weight.
Far away, Cai Lin and the others froze, sensing the staff's power even from a distance.
This was a true Saint Artifact, once mighty beyond comprehension. Even damaged, its presence eclipsed all their weapons combined.
The Beast Spirit sensed it too. Its hollow eyes flickered with something akin to fear. Dark energy flared violently as its form tensed.
But before it could flee—
Mo Yu moved.
With a mere thought, he summoned a jade bottle beside him. It shattered instantly, releasing a flood of luminous energy.
Streams of silver light twined around him like rivers of stars.
"Supreme Spirit Liquid… nearly a million drops," Cai Lin whispered in shock.
"Can it really take that much just to activate the staff?"
Mo Yu sighed inwardly. Power came at a price. The staff was so heavy with divine essence that using it required external fuel—his own strength alone was insufficient. Each swing burned a vast sea of energy.
But it would be worth it.
He grasped the staff tightly. The energy funnelled into it—and suddenly, it felt lighter, alive with cosmic might.
Without another word, he leapt forward.
Boom!
The black staff arced downward like a descending comet.
When it struck the earth, all light vanished.
The void itself warped around the blow. Ripples of annihilation burst outward, erasing everything in their path. Where the staff fell, the ground was split apart for miles. Even space seemed to disintegrate, leaving behind only silence.
The others standing far away couldn't breathe beneath the pressure. It was as though death itself loomed over them.
The Beast Spirit screamed. In terror, it conjured a wall of death energy behind which it attempted to retreat—but the black glow of the staff consumed everything. Its energy defenses evaporated like mist before the sun.
A single flash of darkness—and the staff struck.
The blow pierced straight through the Beast Spirit's armor and skull, erasing the core of its being. The monstrous form crumbled into dust, the death energy dispersing in a wave of silence.
When the light finally dimmed, Mo Yu stood still, panting slightly, the staff planted at his side.
Far away, Cai Lin and the others could only stare, pale beneath the aftershock of divine power.
With one strike, he had obliterated a half-step ninth-rank Beast Spirit.
Such was the terror of the Primordial Gold-Banded Staff.
