Chapter 626: Pill Tower's Assistance, The Battle of Three Emperors
Outside the space of the Demon Flame, the twisted sky gradually returned to normal, and the terrifying heat that once enveloped the world began to dissipate. The lava desert below stopped churning and slowly solidified into white rock formations.
In the surrounding sky, figures hovered, their eyes filled with unwillingness as they gazed at the now-closed space. Once the spatial passage disappeared, they lost all sense of the place. No matter what methods they tried, they couldn't reopen it.
"Why haven't Xiao Yan and the others come out yet?" Yao Lao's face was grave as he stared at the void. Since they escaped, there had been no further movement from within.
"Miss..." Gu Nanhai, sweating profusely, stared anxiously at the space. Xun'er's status in the Gu Clan was extraordinary, but now she was lost inside. He dreaded the thought of what punishment awaited him back in the clan.
"Elder, don't blame yourself. Xun'er insisted on staying with Xiao Yan, and even if we reacted sooner, it wouldn't have made a difference," Gu Qingyang sighed, trying to offer some comfort.
"Xiao Yan is lucky, and so is Xun'er. They'll be fine."
"But what if they aren't?" Gu Nanhai growled through gritted teeth.
"Don't worry," Mo Yu interjected calmly. "Both Xiao Yan and Xun'er will be fine. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, they'll be in there for quite a while. But when they emerge, the entire continent will be shaken."
If Mo Yu recalled correctly, it was during this very opportunity that Xiao Yan not only subdued the Demon Lotus Flame and rapidly increased his strength but also secured Xun'er as his true woman.
Gu Nanhai's expression darkened at Mo Yu's words. "Are you saying Xun'er will be trapped for a long time?"
"Yes. The time they'll stay depends on when Xiao Yan manages to subdue the Demon Lotus Flame," Mo Yu nodded.
"What? Relying on Xiao Yan to subdue the Demon Lotus Flame?" Gu Nanhai and Gu Qingyang were both taken aback.
Throughout history, countless powerful beings had tried to subdue the Demon Lotus Flame, only to meet their demise. Even during this event, not only Gu Nanhai, but also Soul Demon Elder and the Pill Tower Elder had nearly perished at the hands of the flame. How could someone like Xiao Yan, a mere one-star Dou Saint, achieve what they couldn't?
Even Yao Lao, who had the deepest connection to Xiao Yan, couldn't help but feel the situation was hopeless. After all, the gap between Xiao Yan and the Demon Lotus Flame was too vast.
Mo Yu, however, didn't offer further explanation. He simply smiled and said, "Time will prove everything."
Gu Nanhai's expression fluctuated, but in the end, he sighed deeply. He could only cling to the faint hope that Xun'er would emerge safely.
"Heh, it looks like the Gu Clan has suffered a huge loss. Xun'er has such incredible talent, and given enough time, she could have achieved extraordinary heights. Though we didn't obtain the Demon Lotus Flame, we've still eliminated two major threats," the Soul Palace Vice Chief sneered quietly as he watched the worried faces of Yao Lao and the others.
"Soul Palace Elder," the Soul Palace Chief frowned. "Xiao Yan carries a remnant image of the Demon Lotus Saint. There's no telling what surprises might happen."
"Sly as always. Xiao Yan doesn't seem like someone with a short life ahead," added Hun Feng.
"We'll wait a few more days. I want to see what tricks those two brats will play," the Soul Demon Elder said with a dark glint in his eyes.
With the spatial passage closed, most people chose not to leave but stayed behind, unwilling to accept that they had come all this way for nothing. Some hoped for a last-minute twist.
Seven days passed.
During this time, the space remained completely still. No strange heat, no movements—nothing. Many were disappointed, and one by one, people began to leave reluctantly.
"Seven days," Gu Qingyang muttered, glancing at the now weary Gu Nanhai, who looked much older. "Elder, what should we do?"
"I don't know..." Gu Nanhai shook his head, then suddenly looked at Mo Yu, his eyes filled with hope. "Mo Yu, are you sure Xun'er is still alive?"
Mo Yu smiled calmly. "Elder, if you didn't believe me, why ask? I'll just say this—there's an over 80% chance that both Xun'er and Xiao Yan are still alive."
In truth, Mo Yu was understating things. He was certain they'd survive, but he didn't want to raise suspicions. After all, Xiao Yan was practically the 'protagonist' of this world, and his story was far from over.
"Eighty percent..." Gu Nanhai seemed slightly reassured by the number, though he didn't know why Mo Yu was so confident.
After a deep breath, Gu Nanhai sighed. "In any case, I must return to the clan and report this."
"Don't worry," Yao Lao assured him. "I'll have people monitor this place constantly. As soon as there's any sign of movement, word will be sent to the Gu Clan immediately."
"Thank you," Gu Nanhai nodded to Yao Lao and Mo Yu before taking one last look at the space. Then he turned and flew towards the northern sky, followed closely by Gu Qingyang.
As the two flew off, Yao Lao turned to Mo Yu with a questioning look.
"You want to ask why I'm so confident that Xiao Yan and Xun'er are still alive, right?" Mo Yu smiled knowingly.
Yao Lao nodded with a wry smile. "It's not that I don't trust you, but Xiao Yan is like a son to me. His safety means the world to me, so naturally, I worry."
Understanding the bond between Yao Lao and Xiao Yan, Mo Yu nodded. "Don't worry. Xiao Yan will come out alive, and he will have subdued the Demon Lotus Flame."
For some reason, Yao Lao felt a great weight lift from his chest at Mo Yu's confident words. Over the years, he had met many exceptional talents, but none compared to Xiao Yan and Mo Yu. In fact, deep down, he believed Mo Yu's potential surpassed even Xiao Yan's.
"Ha! Xiao Yan, subdue the Demon Lotus Flame? What a joke!" A mocking voice rang out from the distance—it was the Soul Palace Vice Chief.
"Defeated dogs bark the loudest," Mo Yu retorted without even looking up.
"You!" The Soul Palace Vice Chief's face darkened in fury. Mo Yu had just publicly humiliated him, and he couldn't stand it.
"So, you're Mo Yu," the Soul Demon Elder interjected coldly, his eyes narrowing with murderous intent. "I've heard many of our clan's experts have died at your hands. The Gu Clan's divine bloodline has perished in the flame space. Now, it's time to deal with the Thunder Clan's divine bloodline as well."
Divine bloodlines were like strategic weapons for the ancient clans—powerful, but in need of growth. If the Soul Demon Elder could eliminate both the Gu Clan's and Thunder Clan's divine bloodlines, the Soul Clan would face no opposition in its path to power.
"Soul Demon Elder, don't you dare!" Lei Jizhou roared, stepping in front of Mo Yu, his body crackling with lightning. If Mo Yu were to die here, he'd never forgive himself.
Lei Fei'er, too, was worried, her beautiful face tense with anxiety. She clutched a silver token tightly in her hand, ready to protect her husband at all costs.
"Hmph. Lei Jizhou, you're merely a four-star Dou Saint, and you think you can stop me?" the Soul Demon Elder sneered disdainfully.
"If he's not enough, what about me?" a voice cut in. It was the Pill Tower Elder, whispering something to the boy on the ox.
The boy, after glancing at Mo Yu, spoke loudly, "Old man, do you really want to meddle in this?"
The Soul Demon Elder's fury flared. "Are you really going to get involved again, Pill Tower Elder?"
He was already angry that the Pill Tower Elder had foiled their plan to seize the Demon Lotus Flame. Now, the old man wanted to protect Mo Yu as well?
"Mo Yu once gifted our Pill Tower a ninth-grade pill cauldron. Such kindness cannot be ignored. If you want to touch him, you'll have to get through me first," the Pill Tower Elder declared calmly.
Hearing this, the Soul Demon Elder was stunned. Rage filled his eyes as he stared at Mo Yu. "Old man, you've crossed the line! My clan's leader has had his eye on you for a long time. You're on the verge of reaching the pinnacle of ninth-grade pills, and once you take that final step to become a legendary Golden Pill, even our clan leader won't be able to resist taking action."
The boy on the ox simply smiled. "He's been eyeing me for years. But even if I delivered myself to his doorstep, would he dare consume me?"
"Enough of your arrogance!" the Soul Demon Elder snarled. "When our leader emerges from seclusion, you'll learn the price of defying the Soul Clan."
With a cold snort, the Soul Demon Elder tore open a spatial rift and stepped into it, knowing that with the Pill Tower Elder present, it was impossible to kill Mo Yu. If he stayed any longer, he'd risk facing the wrath of the Thunder Clan leader.
Following the Soul Demon Elder's lead, the Soul Palace Chief and Vice Chief shot Mo Yu icy glares before disappearing into the rift.
Only Hun Feng lingered, his gaze locked on Mo Yu. "Mo Yu, next time we meet, I'll repay the shame you've caused me!"
Mo Yu merely smirked. "A defeated dog will always be a defeated dog."
Hun Feng's threats didn't bother him in the slightest. His sights were set on more formidable opponents like the Soul Palace Chief and the Soul Demon Elder.
After thanking Lei Jizhou for his assistance, Mo Yu turned to the Pill Tower Elder and respectfully bowed. "Thank you, Elder, for your timely help."
Despite the Pill Tower Elder's youthful appearance, Mo Yu knew better and addressed him as an elder—a scene that appeared odd but felt natural to all present.
The Pill Tower Elder waved a hand dismissively. "There's no need for thanks. Mo Yu, you gave our Pill Tower a ninth-grade cauldron, creating a bond between us. Helping you is the least I could do."
Mo Yu smiled, inwardly grateful that he had forged a positive relationship with the Pill Tower instead of becoming their enemy.
"Be cautious, Mo Yu," the Pill Tower Elder warned. "The Soul Clan won't let this go. They're plotting something big, something unprecedented. I even suspect that the fall of the Ling Clan was their doing."
Mo Yu was taken aback by this. The Ling Clan's destruction had shocked the continent, with many theories swirling around, but this was the first time someone so confidently suggested the Soul Clan's involvement.
"Although I have no concrete evidence," the Pill Tower Elder continued, "I'm certain the Soul Clan is up to something. When the time comes, only young talents like you and Xiao Yan will be able to stop them."
"Me and Xiao Yan, huh..." Mo Yu mused, his eyes narrowing.
The Pill Tower Elder was right. Once Xiao Yan emerged with the Demon Lotus Flame under his control, it would signal that the Soul Clan was ready to make its move. Their leader would soon emerge from seclusion, and the battle that awaited the continent wouldn't just be between two emperors.
With Mo Yu's involvement, it might very well be a battle of three emperors! (End of chapter)
