Chapter 486: Swallowed and Subdued, the Powerful Yuanfu
A terrifying lightning storm swept across the sky, creating a sea of lightning that engulfed the heavens and the earth.
Boom!
A muffled sound echoed from within the lightning storm, and then a figure wrapped in lightning plummeted from the sky like a cannonball. The tragic scream rang in everyone's ears, and it was clear that this lightning-clad figure was none other than the once-mighty Sword Sovereign.
In the sky, the sound of wind whooshed as Mo Yu appeared like a ghost above the ravine, his indifferent gaze sweeping across the scene. His destructive lightning orb had seriously injured the Sword Sovereign, and if luck was not on his side, that man might have already died.
"Weeds must be uprooted," Mo Yu's eyes gleamed coldly as he clenched his hand. The Divine Black Thunder Spear shot out, plunging into the ravine and striking precisely where the Sword Sovereign's weakened aura lingered.
Boom!
The spear's path shattered the loose stones around the ravine like bubbles, pulverizing them into dust.
Pfft!
The spear, like a dragon, pierced through the Sword Sovereign's chest before he could react, impaling him completely. This fatal blow pushed the already gravely injured Sword Sovereign to his death, and moments later, his aura completely vanished—his life extinguished.
The Sword Sovereign was dead!
Feeling the life force of the Sword Sovereign fade away, Mo Yu descended, pulling the Divine Black Thunder Spear from the lifeless body. He looked at the corpse, whose eyes were still wide open in death, and let out a small sigh of relief.
The strength of a Three-Star Dou Zun (Battle Sovereign) was indeed formidable, but fortunately, Mo Yu had his ultimate trump card—the destructive lightning orb.
Clap, clap, clap…
Just as Mo Yu was lost in thought, a sudden clapping sound echoed from the sky. Mo Yu's eyes narrowed as he turned to see Mo Yi, who was staring at him with a serious expression.
"As expected of the genius making waves across the continent. Mo Yu, the strength of your Yuanfu (Yuan Mansion) is truly unfathomable," Mo Yi remarked, his face tense as he looked at the fallen Sword Sovereign.
Initially, Mo Yi had thought Mo Yu was just an upstart with some tricks, but to his shock, Mo Yu had the power to kill the Sword Sovereign. And Mo Yi himself was only a Three-Star Dou Zun as well, meaning Mo Yu had become a serious threat.
Realizing this, Mo Yi's face darkened. He no longer dared to underestimate Mo Yu.
Seeing Mo Yu's cold, silent expression, Mo Yi felt fear creeping into his heart. He had hoped to use the West Alliance to dominate the Western Region, not to fight Yuanfu to the death.
Mo Yi's face shifted with indecision. Though Mo Yu had been injured during his battle with the Sword Sovereign, there was no guarantee that he couldn't unleash another terrifying lightning storm. Finally, Mo Yi made up his mind. He forced a smile and said, "Lord Mo Yu, the Western Alliance was founded by the Sword Sovereign and the Master Forger. I was only forced to join. Now that the Sword Sovereign is dead, I'm willing to leave the Western Alliance and promise never to oppose Yuanfu again. What do you say?"
Hearing Mo Yi claim he had been forced into the Western Alliance, Mo Yu chuckled coldly. He didn't believe a word of it. Mo Yi was the head of the Diming Sect, a powerful faction in its own right. How could someone like him be coerced into joining?
But Mo Yi had witnessed the power of the destructive lightning orb, and Mo Yu knew that capturing him wouldn't be easy. After thinking for a moment, Mo Yu spoke coldly, "Very well, I will give you a chance. But only you can leave. The Western Alliance can no longer exist."
Mo Yi's face changed instantly. Mo Yu's meaning was clear—he intended to eliminate all members of the Western Alliance. And among those members were many people from Diming Sect.
But seeing Mo Yu's confident expression, Mo Yi gritted his teeth. He swore to himself that he would repay this humiliation one day.
"Lord Mo Yu, your methods are truly ruthless…" Mo Yi's voice turned cold as he gave Mo Yu a final glare. A spatial crack appeared behind him, and without another word, he stepped into it and disappeared from the sky above the fortress.
"The Western Alliance's two leaders—one dead, one fled. The crisis for Yuanfu is finally over," Mo Yu thought as he lightly flapped his thunder wings and soared out of the ravine, returning to the open sky.
His gaze swept across the battlefield below, where members of the Western Alliance were still fighting. He snorted coldly, flicking his fingers, sending out ten terrifying thunderbolts that shot like lasers across the sky, slamming into the Alliance's strongest fighters.
Boom! Boom!
With each deep explosion, agonized screams followed as the thunderbolts struck. The ordinary Dou Zong (Battle Sect) experts were no match for Mo Yu's attacks and were blasted backward, coughing blood.
The deadly Xuan Thunder clung to their bodies like a curse, resisting all attempts to fend it off. Many of the Alliance's warriors fled in terror, with the thunder still clinging to them.
Seeing this, the remaining Alliance members realized the battle was lost. Without wasting any more time, they spread their wings of Dou Qi and fled for their lives.
"Lord Mo Yu, please spare us! We were forced to join the Western Alliance!" Several warriors and factions that had been coerced by the Alliance shouted in panic, pleading for their lives.
They had never imagined that Mo Yu would be so powerful, able to defeat two mighty leaders by himself. Now terrified, they dared not resist any longer.
Mo Yu glanced at them coldly, but he didn't kill them all. Though these people were detestable, they were still well-known in the Western Region. Killing them would not benefit Yuanfu's growth.
But neither did he want to recruit such spineless people. If they could surrender to him now, they could easily betray him later when faced with a stronger enemy. After a moment's thought, he spoke indifferently, "You may leave, but one life must pay for another. Trade the members of Wan Jian Pavilion or Diming Sect for your freedom."
Wan Jian Pavilion (Ten Thousand Swords Pavilion) was an old enemy of Mo Yu, so he had no intention of letting any of its members go. As for Diming Sect, he wanted to prevent any future betrayals by severing their ties.
Hearing Mo Yu's words, the warriors from Diming Sect and Wan Jian Pavilion turned pale.
Meanwhile, the other factions hesitated briefly before their eyes flashed with cruelty. Turning on their former allies from Diming Sect and Wan Jian Pavilion, they attacked.
In an instant, the sky erupted into chaos once more. But this time, Yuanfu was merely a spectator to the carnage.
"These guys… they really are shameless," said Ma Chen, smiling as he approached Mo Yu. Mo Yu's strategy had been ruthless but effective.
By pitting the factions against each other, Mo Yu ensured that they would harbor grudges and be unable to unite in the future.
Of course, with the Western Alliance defeated, Diming Sect would lose much of its power. But since Diming Sect had the backing of the Heavenly Underworld Sect, one of the two great sects, Mo Yu had acted preemptively to weaken them and prevent any future alliances.
"It's a pity that the Master Forger didn't show up. He must have fled by now," sighed Elder Bing as he walked over.
Mo Yu smiled coldly. "No matter. After this battle, I will send Yuanfu's forces to hunt him down. Even if he's an eighth-tier weapon master, he won't escape for long!"
Hearing Mo Yu's icy tone, a trace of killing intent flickered in his eyes.
Elder Bing and Ma Chen were both stunned. They had almost forgotten that the young man before them had just killed a Sword Sovereign. From now on, Mo Yu and Yuanfu would reign supreme in the Western Region.
Thinking of this, both Elder Bing and Ma Chen shook their heads with a sigh.
When Mo Yu first arrived in Zhongzhou, he had been just a young Dou Zong. Yet in less than two years, he had grown to such heights...
The battle in the sky lasted for more than ten minutes, and the warriors of Wan Jian Pavilion and Diming Sect suffered heavy losses. Without their leaders, the remaining armies fled in disarray, scattering in all directions.
Mo Yu glanced at the sky, knowing the Western Alliance was finished. From now on, there would be no such alliance in the Western Region.
Phew
Letting out a breath, Mo Yu descended toward the fortress walls. As he landed, thunderous cheers erupted throughout the fortress.
"Yuanfu shall stand forever! Long live the Lord!"
As Mo Yu's figure settled on the wall, he smiled slightly at the deafening cheers that seemed to shake the entire fortress.
"Lord Mo Yu, I am Dongfang Hong. It is an honor to meet you," said an elderly man as he stepped forward respectfully.
"Elder Dongfang, there's no need for formalities. Our families have fought the Western Alliance together—we are comrades now," Mo Yu replied with a smile.
The old man was the patriarch of the Dongfang family, a reclusive clan in the Western Region. He was a One-Star Dou Zun who had refused to submit to the Western Alliance and had joined Yuanfu in the fight.
He was one of the few Dou Zun in the alliance whom Mo Yu didn't know well.
"Haha, in all my years, I have never seen such a talented young man as Lord Mo Yu. If I were younger, I would follow you into battle myself," laughed Dongfang Hong heartily.
Mo Yu smiled warmly at the elder, feeling a growing sense of admiration for the man.
"Lord, what should we do with the remaining Dou Zuns of the Western Alliance?" asked Zi Huo, who had approached with five captured Dou Zun warriors behind him.
These five were not from Wan Jian Pavilion or Diming Sect, so they had survived.
Looking at the young man before them, the five Dou Zuns broke into a cold sweat as they recalled the terrifying destructive lightning orb from earlier. Hastily, they spoke in unison, "Lord Mo Yu, we surrender! Please spare our lives!"
Mo Yu's silver eyes narrowed slightly. He had no intention of slaughtering all the Dou Zuns from the Western Alliance. To establish Yuanfu's dominance in the Western Region, he needed to recruit new talent and factions, and these five would be valuable additions.
After a brief pause, Mo Yu said calmly, "Since you were not the main culprits, I will spare your lives. However, you have two choices. First, you may return to your original factions, but those factions must now swear loyalty to Yuanfu and pay an annual tribute of 20%. Second, you can join Yuanfu directly and serve as its warriors, enjoying all the benefits that come with it."
Mo Yu fixed his gaze on the five Dou Zuns, ready to unleash his Black Gold Lightning Orb if any dared to resist.
Sensing the danger in Mo Yu's eyes, the five wiped their foreheads nervously, not daring to disobey. Three chose the first option, while the remaining two, being independent warriors, opted to join Yuanfu directly.
"I, Kuang Dao, pledge my loyalty to Yuanfu and will serve Lord Mo Yu from this day forward!" declared one of the two, a large man wielding a massive executioner's blade. He was a One-Star Dou Zun.
Beside him stood Lin Lang, a handsome man who appeared to be in his thirties and was also a One-Star Dou Zun.
Both Kuang Dao and Lin Lang had been independent fighters before being recruited by the Master Forger into the Western Alliance. They hadn't expected to run into Mo Yu's unstoppable force.
Now, with the Western Alliance shattered and Mo Yu's might deeply ingrained in their minds, they chose to join Yuanfu.
"Very well. From now on, Yuanfu has two more revered warriors: Revered Warrior Kuang Dao and Revered Warrior Lin Lang," Mo Yu said with a smile.
Dou Zun warriors were among the top-tier combatants in any faction. Though these two were only One-Star Dou Zuns, they were still Dou Zuns.
By recruiting these two, Yuanfu's strength had increased significantly. With their help, Yuanfu could potentially replace the Western Alliance and become the dominant force in the Western Region of Zhongzhou.
Seeing this, Elder Bing and Ma Chen exchanged astonished glances.
With the addition of Kuang Dao and Lin Lang, Yuanfu now boasted a total of seven Dou Zun warriors, including Zi Huo, Xiao Yixian, Qing Lin, Mo Yu, and Qing Zhi.
The two veterans couldn't help but smile bitterly.
"It seems... the Western Region is about to change," they both thought.
