Chapter 271 - Goodbye Skyderia!

Another Full Week passed after the Celebration.

Apponiv and the Other Warriors, as well as the Elder Council had began the reconstruction of the buildings in the town square. Kále and Noir ended up falling asleep for three days after the Bonfire, finally succumbing to their exhaustion.

Leroy on the Other hand had fell into a slumber that lasted five entire days. Recovering from the intense fight and the injuries incurred from the moments of being stripped of his Rubber constitution. The hairline fractures, and the contusions needed to be healed. Taking much longer due to his exhaustion compared to the others

In the meantime before Leroy woke up. The Crew managed to gather around supplies to make up for what they use in the Tournament and then some. Ensuring that they would have enough by the time they returned to the Blue Sea

After Leroy's rise. The Crew checked out of the Inn, thanking the Keeper with a hefty tip of Librae.

The Supplies had been hauled and stored. Chatter filled the Beach, citizens watching the Crew while they readied the Horizons Palm. Jeanne checked the siding, Kirk pulling the rigging, while the others got things ready.

"Hey!" A Recognizable voice filled the air. Apponiv wading his way through the crowd. Leroy running over to the edge and leaning over it, bandages having been removed "Hey! Apponiv"

He waved frantically. The Chief was accompanied by Aowga. "Are you all preparing to leave already?" She smiled, clear jest on her lips with a smile

"We've already been here a Month!" Jeanne said as she continued her minor repairs, a nail between her teeth

"Yes you have. And what a wonderful time it's been. Its a shame to see you off so soon." He hung her head with a grin persisting.

"Speaking of. You haven't mentioned how we can get off this Island? We were going to come once we were ready." Leroy leaned on his hand

"Hmmm. Quiet Easy actually. At least to us." He put a hand on one of the Beach workers passing her. "Equip their ship with a Fall Parasol would you?"

"Yes, right away ma'am!" The worker nodded picking up the hustle

"What's a Fall Parasol?" Jeanne inquired, turning around on the pulley she sat on.

"It's a device that's stored in Reels, and will slow your descent back down to the Blue Sea with the help of large pieces of fabric."

"Oh! I've heard of stuff like that…I read that there's divers on some islands that use something similar to them." The Markswoman added

"I think they're called Parachutes." Raven interjected, walking up the rail. "I've heard the same thing as Jeanne."

After a short modification to the ship, anchoring one large reel to the top of the Crows Nest, and two smaller ones on sides of the ship, Aowga had said that they had balloons on the inside, and helped slow the ship even more.

"You said that once these reels are used, that they can be used for storage right?" Jeanne inquired to the Councilwoman

"Yes, Storage Reels, they can suck up things like fabrics and other flexible materials. Compressing them down to fully fit on the inside of the Reel itself."

"Wow! Perfect! I'll certainly be able to use those!"

"So, where do we leave anyway." Kirk asked.

"Simple. You can leave where you came from." She pointed out to the middle of the white sea where the palm had pierced through over a month before.

"What." Blunty Said. And Unamused

"Cohoho! Not through the Sea! Sail off the edge. Once you reach a certain speed, and since the Reels are exposed to rushing wind, the Balloons and Fall Parasol will deploy."

"That's Nuts!" Kirk exclaimed fist clenched.

"Hahah! Should be fun!" Leroy added, craning his neck back in a hearty laugh

*

"Bye!!" Leroy waved as the Palm pulled out from the beach and began to sail away. The crew was at the back of the Ship, some waving, others watching as Aowga, Apponiv, and the rest of the spectating citizens waved their goodbyes, not only to their champions, but the saviors of their city.

"I can't believe we're actually doing this…" Kirk sighed as the ship began to sail through the White Waves after over a month of sedentariness

It took just as long as the first time for the Palm to sail from the island that they'd called a temporary home for over eight-hundred hours, faded over the horizon.

"What a place, huh?" Leroy looked to Raven and Noir next to him

"Yeah. All my years working on the Rose Arbor, I think I only ever saw someone with Wings once. But they weren't dressed anything like them."

"Yeah you mentioned that when we got settled in the hotel." Raven said as Noir finished lighting his cigarette the acrid smoke leaving his lips

"Out of all the books I've read. Only a few of them were about Sky Islands. And not one of them mentioned this place, despite the story saying this place is the progenitor. And by all accounts, it seems totally true."

"Crazy…" Leroy murmured

*

"Hey! We're almost to the Edge! Everyone get Ready!" Jeanne yelled from a top the Nest

"Thank goodness we tied everything down at the beach." Leroy said, wrapping his arms around the railing, watching while the horizon, and Blue of the sky came closer and closer.

"Yeah…Just means I'll have to put everything back in the Cupboards, again!" Noir complained.

"Phew…Here we go…" Raven connected herself to the railing with her Hana-Hana. Kále and Noir, gripping the railing with stoic looks. Jeanne quickly came down so that Raven could hold her and Dezzi.

"Raven! Me next please!" The Fishman pleaded as he held the side of the railing, two arms coming out and holding his forearm

They all stared at the edge. It was like a anticipating a rollercoaster to fall over the edge of the highest bend.

And just like a coaster! Eventually that drop had to come! The front of the ship tilting over the edge, showing the immense and almost never ending drop to the bright sapphire colored water twenty kilometers below!
