Inside the car, Grant felt a sudden, violent twist in his chest, his brows knitting tightly together in distress. "What happened to my Angel?" The haunting thought struck him like a physical blow. He shot an urgent look at the driver.
"Speed up! Right now!" he ordered, his voice laced with panic.
The driver slammed his foot onto the accelerator without losing a second, the engine roaring into a high-speed frenzy.
"Angel, please be safe," Grant prayed inwardly, his palms sweating against the leather interior as an ominous weight pressed down on his heart.
Miles away, Webby was clutching several gift packages outside a boutique when that exact same suffocating dread paralyzed him. He froze mid-step, the packages slipping from his fingers. A single, razor-sharp realization flooded his mind, "Angel is in danger."
Without wasting another second, he sprinted to his sports car, tore open the door, and sped out into traffic like a man possessed.
