Angus remained silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on Lily.
"Angus," he replied calmly, his gaze not leaving Lily.
Lily's mother nodded thoughtfully. "He's more mature than Liam, she reflected. Then, her expression shifted, sharp and decisive. "You two are interested in Lily?" she asked, cutting straight to the point.
The room fell silent. Lily nearly choked, biting her lower lip to stay composed.
"Mom, why are you so blunt?" she thought.
Her mother sighed. "Look at where we're living. We're poor. Even if you genuinely care for my daughter, the gap between you is too vast. Lily is my only daughter—I can't let her suffer. You two should just let it go, alright?" she urged, her eyes locking onto theirs.
"Let's hear your reply," she thought, her stare unwavering.
Liam glanced at Lily. "That's not a problem. I didn't get rich because of anyone—I did it for Beauty. Everything I own naturally belongs to her," he declared.
