Three days had passed like a flash of lightning—swift, blinding, and cruel. Damon hadn't touched me since that night. Since the last time he had pushed me to the edge, demanding my submission, pushing me to a place I wasn't sure I could return from.
He had been busy, his mind consumed with preparations for the full moon festival. Vampires, wolves, witches—all the creatures in the supernatural world participated in their own activities. Damon, ever the tyrant, made sure that everything ran smoothly. Tensions were high, though, despite his iron grip on power. Despite his authoritarian rule, our species hadn't learned to coexist. And the whispers—of rebellion, of assassination—grew louder each day. Clashes were inevitable.
