Wan Chu'er called the waiter to settle the bill, gathered her things, and holding both of their bags in one hand, she looped her other arm around Mai Qiqi to head outside.
"Mai Qiqi, you've lost a lot of weight, ya know. The food today was so delicious, yet you hardly ate a bite. I bet you usually peck at your food like a little chicken." Wan Chu'er complained, but inside she knew Mai Qiqi probably had reached the point of hardly being able to swallow anything.
Because of a drunken Mai Qiqi, Wan Chu'er stumbled as she supported her. They had only walked a few steps when they ran into someone around a corner.
Mai Qiqi's head bumped into the newcomer, and as she rebounded backward, Wan Chu'er stumbled a few steps, straining to catch her and dropping the bags on the ground in the process.
Finally steadying Mai Qiqi against a wall, Wan Chu'er quickly apologized to the person they ran into without even looking up: "Sorry."
