Jade noticed Eros's expression had changed. The worry in his eyes disappeared, replaced by a different kind of thing.
Hunger.
Eros's breathing had changed. It was noticeably slower, then deeper, almost deliberate. It came off as if he was gasping for air. Sweat gathered along his temples despite the room's cool temperature. His pupils seemed oddly unfocused.
Instincts told Jade to run. But his body was not cooperating. "Eros… snapped out of it," he mumbled with difficulty. Inside, he was cursing Etienne's world.
Was this world meant to break relationships apart?!
"Eros?"
Jade called again.
This time, Eros finally reacted. He blinked. Something inside his eyes had shifted. The calm rationality that usually defined him appeared clouded by confusion.
Jade stared at him, observing. He had read that omegas emitted pheromones that attract alphas. So, now, even though he didn't know how, he tried to stop himself from giving off that kind of scent.
