He looked for the exit, but the crowd surrounding them suddenly squealed and screamed. At first, it was only a single voice somewhere in the crowd, sounding uncertain but loud enough to gather attention.

This person was a young woman. She blinked several times, even rubbed her eyes twice, and raised the light sticks she was holding to see clearly. Then, she aggressively clutched her friend's arm so tightly that the latter winced and frowned.
