Lille Barro's X-Axis was never truly invincible.
Leaving aside the fact that Lille ends up being killed in the original story, there's a simpler proof: if the power really were unbeatable, Yhwach would never have handed it over to Lille Barro in the first place.
Moments ago, Hui had already cracked the ability.
Like most powers, the X-Axis requires its wielder's conscious will to activate.
Once Lille loses that razor-sharp awareness, the technique is no better than a clumsy tumble.
After all, not everyone's power can shield its master on its own the way the Hōgyoku can in special circumstances.
A second earlier, Hui had cast an Illusion Technique, robbing Lille Barro of consciousness.
While Lille was out, Hui hammered him with successive strikes, severing all four of his wings.
After a round of agonized screams, Lille finally quieted.
His body quivered, and the eyes that fixed on Hui brimmed with terror.
This was a brand-new power, one that perfectly countered his own.
"What… was that technique called?"
Lille asked hoarsely, the pain from his mangled wings still biting deep, a pain he would never forget.
"Let's just call it an Illusion Technique,"
Hui replied, perfectly willing to disclose it.
He'd revealed the move before: the first time he entered Seireitei, he used an illusion, turning Sōsuke Aizen's trademark trick against him, to ruin Aizen's reputation. Anyone who bothered to dig could learn that much.
"Illusion Technique, huh? That really is… terrifying,"
Lille muttered after a brief silence.
"I agree,"
Hui said, lifting Zhi yi again.
"This next stroke will slice your throat."
A crushing dread weighed on Lille Barro.
He knew death was coming. But he could not die here; falling now would jeopardize his eventual resurrection.
Nor could he simply wait for the end, that would look far too suspicious.
His remaining wings beat madly as he bolted skyward.
"It's too late to be running,"
Hui called, launching after him at an even greater speed.
Realizing escape was impossible, Lille Barro let out a desperate roar.
Light from X-Axis blazed one final time, but not a single shot touched Hui; every blast slipped past as Hui warped space around himself.
Hui's figure blinked into existence directly in Lille's path, his expression icy, eyes cold. The arc of the Zhi yi fell like a meteor cleaving the heavens.
"It's over."
The instant Hui's words fell, a razor-thin gash opened across Lille Barro's throat. His body pitched downward, plummeting from the sky and slamming into the ground.
Bang!!!
The earth split; dust billowed.
Lille's corpse gouged a deep crater, fresh blood spilling out to stain the fractured stone crimson.
Hui descended and stopped at the crater's rim. Staring at the body, he "murmured" to himself:
"What a pity… If he'd been just a little stronger, I might have had some real fun.
Looks like, for a truly satisfying fight, I still need Sōsuke Aizen or Yhwach.
"But Aizen's Hōgyoku hasn't fully fused yet, so meeting him now is pointless.
I might as well head to the Soul Society and see if I can track down Yhwach."
He left those words on purpose, piling psychological pressure onto Lille before turning to leave.
Only after a long while, when certain Hui would not suddenly return, did Lille Barro trigger his power. He entered Vollständig: Second form and resurrected on the spot.
The moment life returned, he dared not linger; he vanished at once.
Once Lille's presence was gone, Hui reappeared where he had been, sensing his location and allowing a faint smile to curl at his lips.
Amateur.
Lille had no idea his every thought lay bare to Hui; standing before Hui, he possessed not a single secret.
Believing his ruse a success, Lille skipped his Karakura hideout and headed straight for the Soul Society.
Slipping into Seireitei, he prepared to return to the Wandenreich. He had gathered plenty of intel on Hui's abilities, and now that Hui seemed focused on Yhwach, Lille felt urgent pressure to deliver the report.
Hui shadowed him from afar. He had meant to infiltrate the Wandenreich, but changed his mind at the last moment.
In the Soul Society he had sensed two other "old acquaintances": Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen.
Thanks to his earlier encounter with Baraggan, Hui already knew what Gin and Tōsen were after, so he decided to lend them a hand.
Aren't they under Aizen's orders to gather intel on Yhwach?
Since Aizen's so interested in him, why not let the two schemers meet a little earlier?
A plotter against a plotter, now that's peak entertainment.
With that thought, Hui formed a Shadow Avatar, transformed it into Lille Barro's likeness, and used it to draw Gin's and Tōsen's attention, handing them a trail to follow.
If they grasped the clue, they would soon discover that, hidden in Seireitei's overlooked shadows, lurked a very different Invisible Empire.
Only after planting that seed did Hui return to Karakura Town and his private villa.
There, he found an unexpected guest.
"Senior, please teach me how to get stronger!"
The teenager bowed deeply, voice firm.
Ichigo Kurosaki had come of his own accord; the moment he saw Hui, he begged for guidance. He seemed to have experienced something as he felt different than before.
Hui raised an eyebrow, eyeing Ichigo with mild surprise…
