Of course, for something like this, not everything was sunshine.
The first trial offered by the Awakening Temple was completely safe. Regardless of whether one succeeded or failed, their life would never be endangered. Failure simply meant leaving empty-handed.
However, any subsequent attempt was different. Not only would it consume considerably more Origin Energy, it also carried genuine danger, including the possibility of death.
Those who challenged the trial a second time would no longer receive the temple's protection. Failure could very well cost them their lives.
Michael slowly nodded.
"Fair enough."
If repeated attempts carried no consequences, people would simply challenge the temple over and over until they eventually succeeded.
This limitation prevented exactly that. More importantly, it preserved the value of awakening itself.
His gaze swept across the spacious hall one final time. Then another realization struck him.
"So that's why registration exists."
