When they arrived at a broad set of double doors, the staff member pushed them open to reveal a spacious waiting hall. Dozens of other Awakeners were already inside, some chatting in low voices, others keeping to themselves. Holographic displays floated in the air, showing news feeds and so on.
"Wait here until called."
Michael nodded once. "Got it."
As he stepped inside, the doors closing behind him, he could feel the subtle shift in atmosphere.

No less than ten pairs of eyes turned toward him almost at once, their stares carrying a weight that was hard to ignore.
An uncomfortable sensation prickled at the back of his neck.
