Chapter 523 - Chapter 523: The Scheming Lacus

After arranging Ailina's flight to PLANT, He Kui returned to the radar room.

Next on the agenda were DSSD and Mendel. Both locations were roughly the same distance away. Considering that the influence of the clan had diminished, he could now personally visit DSSD.

As for going to Mendel, that was out of the question.

If he wasn't mistaken, Kira, Mu, and Creuset would all be there. Depending on the situation, the number of people might even increase, especially since Matiss was still missing. It wouldn't be safe to go there in person.

In contrast, staying at DSSD was the safest option. It wasn't too far, and with the Liberator nearby, it wasn't foolproof, but it was sufficient.

Bringing a small relay station and remotely controlling the Aegis would be enough to handle most situations.

As He Kui pondered this, he returned to his room, only to find the living room bustling with activity.

Lacus was currently engaged in a friendly conversation with the Asuka siblings and Yulis, while Shihe stood in the middle, looking somewhat helpless.

"He Kui, you're back. Dinner is ready," Lacus said before Shihe could speak, her gentle, captivating smile making it hard to look away.

"Yes, I've already prepared it," Shihe emphasized the word "I," finally understanding why Sulei had run off earlier. Lacus was truly cunning, especially when it came to getting what she wanted. It was something Shihe found hard to handle.

"But Lacus helped too, right~" Lacus playfully glanced at the Asuka siblings.

"Yeah..." Shin turned his head away, feeling a bit uncomfortable under Lacus's gaze. Although she seemed gentle, the way she had looked at him earlier sent a chill down his spine. It must have been his imagination, right?

A hint of envy rose in the young man's heart. This was Lacus, after all, and it seemed like she was competing with Shihe for He Kui's attention. Any man would feel envious.

"Well, we should get going," Shin said, noticing his sister's increasingly admiring gaze toward He Kui, which seemed to have been influenced by Yulis. As a doting older brother, he couldn't allow his sister to become as infatuated with He Kui as Yulis was. What would happen to him then?

The thought of Mayu being swept away by He Kui in the future made Shin even more anxious.

"I just remembered I have some homework to finish. We'll head out now," Shin said, taking his sister's hand and leading her toward the door.

"Ah, but He Kui just got back..." Mayu looked at her brother helplessly, then turned to He Kui with an apologetic expression.

"It's fine, go ahead. I'll have time to teach you later," He Kui didn't stop Shin. Although Mayu had a talent for diplomacy and idol work, and Lacus could guide her, he was afraid Lacus might lead her astray. He didn't want anyone close to him being swayed by Lacus.

"Brother, are you tired?" Yulis approached as soon as the Asuka siblings left, her eyes filled with even more admiration. After all, her brother was the man who had even won over the princess and songstress. He was simply amazing.

"Not tired," He Kui replied, gently patting the girl's head.

"Where did you just go? There shouldn't be much work recently, right?"

Lacus, who had just brought out the food from the kitchen, overheard their conversation and asked.

It seemed like a simple concern, but He Kui would never believe there wasn't an element of probing in it.

"I was just doing some work on the new mass-produced Mobile Suits."

"Still researching mass-produced Mobile Suits?"

"Yes, the Atlantic Federation hasn't officially surrendered yet, and even if they do, who knows how long the peace will last."

"Hmm."

Hearing He Kui's words, the gentle smile on Lacus's face gradually faded.

"How's the Mark Knife coming along?"

"It's done, and the basic tests have been completed."

Hearing their conversation, Shihe looked over curiously.

Meeting Shihe's puzzled gaze, Lacus's heart raced slightly.

He Kui hadn't told Shihe.

She didn't know why such a small thing made her so elated.

It was a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time.

"Well, that's good."

His localized Re-GZ is almost ready.

Next, it depends on the negotiations. If everything goes smoothly, the Re-GZ will be our main force on Earth.

After a simple meal with Lacus, He Kui contacted Amalfi.

"Do you want to go to DSSD?"

Amalfi frowned and asked.

"Yes, after all, it's been a long time since we've been there because of the war."

Referencing the last time he went with a council member, he was sure he could go without any issues.

Besides deepening his discussions with Cagalli and Serena, He Kui also wanted to visit Mendel.

"And I've been here for so long, I'm going to suffocate."

He Kui said.

". . . It shouldn't be a problem to go."

Hearing He Kui's words, Amalfi's mouth twitched. Suffocate? He's been having a blast on the asteroid.

"But be careful, the clan hasn't been caught yet, and I heard they still have an armed organization."

"Don't worry."

The armed organization is probably the Library.

But most of the Library's Mobile Suits are modified from other units.

As long as he takes the Liberator and his flagship, they won't be able to break through.

"Anyway, come back quickly after you're done."

"We still need to do in-depth research on nanotherapy."

He Kui has too many projects; the ceasefire doesn't mean everything stops.

"Alright."

After discussing with his superior, He Kui arrived at a more secluded warehouse on the asteroid.

Sulei and Meyrin were both there.

"Finished eating?"

Sulei stood next to the Aegis, giving him a cold stare as she asked.

"Finished. How's the Quantum computer research coming along?"

He Kui chuckled awkwardly, quickly changing the subject.

"The data you provided is very accurate."

"If nothing goes wrong, we'll soon have our own true intelligent computer, but we need to impose more safety regulations on it."

After all, it's an AI, and in many films, they tend to rebel.

This theme has been overdone in movies since ancient times.

"Good."

Xiao Ba doesn't seem threatening at all, and since he's a copy of Xiao Ba, it should be fine for now.

The combination of a quantum computer and the Stargazer should be sufficient.

"I've already equipped Aegis with the current pseudo-quantum computer, which should allow it to act almost like a real person."

Sulei withdrew her gaze from He Kui and pressed the switch located at Aegis's heart.
