Chapter 130 - Tracking

" He's found out?" Avery said.

Suzzy nodded through the phone; she clutched the sheets tightly with her knees on her chest.

"He threatened both Erica and me. I can't look him in the eyes." Suzzy exhales sharply. "I'm scared he'd find out through my eyes.

Avery sighed loudly. Her grip tightened around her phone. This was getting out of hand.

Alex didn't have to know the truth this early.

"I'd come up with something. And Suzzy. Thanks for not telling him anything."

In a dim room, the computer read their voices. Alex clenched and unclenched his fists.

Avery.

That was his wife's voice. The voice he'd longed to hear for months. Everything on his desk crashed to the floor.

Veronica peeked her head into the little space in the door.

"Is everything alright, Alex?"

Alex glared at her, his breath heaving.

"Get out. Now."

Her face. Everything about Veronica made his blood boil. He felt stupid.

For not trusting Avery.

For everything.

His fist swung into the wall.

He dragged a hand through his hair and cursed under his breath.

-Greyson's House

She's been in this house for weeks now, and she can't believe she feels more at home here than in her own home.

Her relationship with Greyson was still edgy, though, but with Larrissa around, she felt at ease.

Larrissa appeared in her sight.

"Can you believe my birthday is this month? I'd be legal this month. No one would restrain me from doing shit. No more, 'be home by 8', or 'you're too young to be doing this, Rissa' "

"Keep dreaming," a voice sounded behind her.

She rolled her eyes before turning to her brother.

"Are you kidding me. Are you hearing this, Emy?"

Larrissa gestured to Emeralde.

"You're the only one who gets me, Emy." Larrissa rushed to hug her.

Greyson eyed her and raised his brow.

- Fresh Greens

"Quit lying to me, you piece of shit. Start talking." Alex held the gun against Ben's head.

"Sir, I don't know anything." Ben quivered.

Bang.

Ben clutched his bleeding leg and screamed.

"Ahh," he groaned.

Alex walked towards him.

"Ben Carson. I'm going to repeat myself for the last time. Where is my wife?"

Ben clutched his leg tightly.

"Smart of her to silence you with money," Alex said when Ben was done telling him everything he knew.

He leaned back against the sofa, one leg crossed over the other.

His fingers brushed over his chin. He was proud of Avery for pulling everything together without informing him or leaving a clue. However, he hated that she had done it alone. Avery was strong and stubborn.

"Give me your phone,"

"What?"

Alex raised his brow at Ben.

"You wouldn't want me to repeat myself."

Ben scrambled for his phone with shaky hands.
