The door swung open. Alex raised his head from his laptop to see who. The frown on his face disappeared when he saw Avery's wet face. He pushed the chair back and walked towards her. Avery slammed her face on his chest as tears dripped down her face.
"What happened, babe?" Alex asked as he caressed her back.
Avery shook her head and responded.
"I just miss you."
Alex looked at his aunt with a brow raised. Hannah smiled and shrugged her shoulders. Hannah left the room, to give them space.
Alex sighed. He pulled Avery away to have a clear view of her face. He cupped her cheeks.
"Tell me what happened? You don't like it here? Do you wanna go back home? Have you missed your mom?" He bombarded her with questions.
Avery chuckled at him. " I told you nothing happened. I just missed you. "She held his face. " I am never leaving your side, Alexander Gibson."
"What's with the sudden confession?"
Avery scoffed and closed her arms against her chest.
"Do I need a special invitation to say those words, huh?"
"Sorry ma'am. I accept your confession and I am also not leaving your side." He pecked her hair.
The butler rushed into the room. He halted and cleared his throat. Both Avery and Amex turned to him.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but they are in."
The tension in the room dropped drastically. Avery knew who the butler was talking about. She squeezed his hand reassuring him she was by his side. Alex smiled at her, he raised her hand and kissed her knuckles.
"Please guide them to the living room," Avery said
The butler nodded at her. Avery turned to her husband."I'm here, don't worry."
