Inside the Root headquarters, Kazuo's shadow clone, wearing a blank anbu mask and a black cloak that hid his body, was walking through a long, dim hallway.
He could hear alarms ringing in the base, and it didn't take long for his enemies to appear before him.
The clone didn't hesitate as he saw five root anbu appear before him at the end of the long, dim tunnel.
Making a single handseal. Hundreds of paper slips appeared around him as they floated in the air.
They had been painted completely black beforehand, making them appear more like pieces of void rather than paper. Kazuo had decided to paint them so that it would make it hard to distinguish that it was his paper style.
The papers rushed towards the root shinobi. It wasn't hard, no, it was extremely easy.
The shinobi didn't stand a chance as the papers wrapped themselves around their bodies, even as they cut hundreds, thousands more would appear until they were completely covered in them.
Kazuo simply raised his left hand and closed it in a fist, muttering softly.
"Paper Burial."
The second his hand was closed in a fist, the papers covering the five root anbu shuddered before quickly crushing the shinobi, causing their blood to splatter out and their organs and flesh to be turned into a soft, mushy substance.
'Not bad.' Kazuo thought as he continued to walk calmly into the base.
'I didn't think it would work, but I guess it did.' He thought before hearing a notification-like sound from his system.
[ Paper Style: Paper Burial has been mastered. ]
'Interesting, it was considered mastered on my first attempt.' Kazuo thought as he arrived at a crossroads, the dim tunnel split into five different paths.
'I guess, I'll have to spend a few turns until I find out everything that's in here.' Kazuo thought as he chose the first path from the left and started walking towards it, unhurried and completely calm.
At this moment, on the other side of the village, precisely in the Uchiha Clan grounds, another shadow clone wearing the same cloak and blank mask appeared in front of the Uchiha Naka shrine.
'I'll check out that stone tablet during this first turn.' Kazuo thought as he walked inside the empty shrine.
It was at this moment that he saw three shinobi appear before him, their red eyes with three tomoe shining into the night.
Kazuo disappeared in an instant, or at least it appeared like he vanished.
In fact, all he had done was cover himself with paper slips in an instant and use them to camouflage himself.
"Where is he?" One of the Uchiha guards said as he scanned the area with his Sharingan, however, he couldn't find anything.
"Right here," Kazuo said, his voice making it clear that he was right in the middle of their group even though he couldn't be seen.
Three explosion tags were plastered onto each of the Uchiha before Kazuo used the body flicker and activated the tags.
*Booom*
And the Uchiha were turned into mangled bodies in an instant, they had died before they could even react.
'Invisibility really is broken.' Kazuo thought to himself as he walked to the seventh tatami mat from the far right in the main hall of the shrine and lifted the mat up, revealing a set of stairs that went underground.
'They didn't even use seals or anything. Are the Uchiha dumb or just overconfident?' Kazuo thought as he started walking down the stairs.
'Most likely overconfident, that was what Itachi declared them as, and they do seem like the type.' Kazuo thought to himself as he continued walking down.
At the same moment, in front of the Hokage Mountain, inside the Hokage Tower, another shadow clone of Kazuo appeared.
Standing right in front of the Hokage office, Kazuo gave a light shrug before opening the door. In an instant, four shinobi were already pointing kunai at his throat.
"Not even a greeting? Well, this can be considered a greeting too." Kazuo said as he chuckled, his voice distorted through a chakra manipulation technique that he had learned a while back.
"Identify yourself." One of the guards said.
"You really think I'll do that when im dressed like this?" Kazuo asked the man, looking at him like he was staring at a dumb child.
'I swear, some of the shinobi in this world are complete and utter idiots.' Kazuo thought as he sighed in disappointment, though he didn't hold any such emotions, it was completely an act, a perfected act at that.
In a flash of movement, four shinobi lost their heads. It didn't take longer than a split second for the battle to be decided.
'Seems like the real Hokage guards aren't here, and these guys were just sent as replacements, most likely chunnins.' Kazuo thought as he flickered his small tanto, throwing the blood that had clung to its blade onto the ground.
'Well, that just makes it easier for me, they do say not to look at a gift horse in the mouth. Wait, was that the saying or was it a donkey?' Kazuo thought to himself as he walked to the right side of the office, where hundreds of scrolls were.
'Now then, the question is whether the scroll of seals is really here or if it was all just a sham by the third hokage in the anime.' Kazuo thought as he opened the drawers one by one.
'It was a sham.' Kazuo thought that after finding nothing, no matter how much he looked, there was only mission details and only of B rank missions at that.
'Well, it was worth at least checking out.' Kazuo thought with a shrug as he dispelled himself.
