Chapter 214 - The Kindness of Others

Soon, Officer Jenny arrived.

When she saw the three "pig heads," a trace of surprise flashed across her face.

However, she didn't dwell on it. Pokémon poachers had no rights.

After confirming their identities, Officer Jenny handcuffed them and escorted them into the police car.

"Thank you, Mr. Angie. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have been able to catch these notorious Pokémon poachers," Officer Jenny said gratefully.

It turns out that these three poachers were all wanted criminals, notorious for their crimes.

Angie waved his hand. "It was just a coincidence."

Officer Jenny said, "Mr. Angie, you're being modest. These aren't ordinary poachers. They are extremely powerful, and the police have tried to arrest them multiple times, but they always managed to escape! For you to catch them, you must be a powerful trainer."

Angie had long since grown tired of repeatedly telling people that he wasn't a trainer, so he humbly said, "I'm just average."

Then, he thought of something and took out the device used by the fat poacher to ambush him and handed it to Officer Jenny.

"By the way, Officer Jenny, here's this thing for you!"

When Officer Jenny saw it, her face immediately flashed with anger.

"Not this again!"

"Do you recognize it?" Angie asked.

Officer Jenny sighed deeply. "Recognize it? I know it all too well!" She then explained the origin of the device to Angie.

This "black-tech" item that could petrify living creatures first appeared in the hands of the infamous Pokémon hunter, Hunter J. It was her weapon for capturing and stealing Pokémon.

Later, when Hunter J went missing and her large hunter organization disbanded, this technology was leaked by her subordinates.

Now, many well-known Pokémon hunters and poachers possess such devices.

Because of this device, many Pokémon have been captured, and the police have suffered numerous setbacks.

So, seeing this device, Officer Jenny gritted her teeth in anger.

After saluting Angie, she said, "In any case, thank you very much for your help, Mr. Angie."

After parting with Officer Jenny, Angie realized it was getting late, so he took his Pokémon and went to find a place to stay.

This time, he didn't stay at a Pokémon Center but checked into a luxury hotel. After all, he wasn't short on money and didn't see the need to deprive himself.

Trainers typically stay at Pokémon Centers because of discounts or free benefits available to registered Trainers, but since Angie wasn't one, he decided to treat himself better.

After choosing a hotel and settling into his room, Angie didn't go out again. He ordered dinner directly to his room.

Since he had gained new partners, tonight's dinner was quite a feast.

Before the dinner arrived, Angie released his Pokémon, including Espathra and Volcanion, along with Goodra, Sliggoo, and the three Eeveelutions.

Since Angie had already treated Goodra and Sliggoo's injuries earlier, they had long since recovered.

Volcanion, as soon as it was released, loudly complained, "Seriously, why did it take so long to let me out? I was bored out of my mind!"

Goodra and Sliggoo, already nervous from changing Trainers, immediately curled up in fear after being startled by Volcanion.

Angie sternly said, "Volcanion, you scared Goodra and Sliggoo!"

Volcanion: ...

"Tch... humans are so fickle!" it snorted before angrily turning and lying in the corner, silently pulling out its phone to watch a football match.

Recently, it had become obsessed with a particular team, and their star player, a Flareon, had amazing skills, leading the team to victory in every match and earning the title of ace player.

Angie ignored the sulking Volcanion and spoke to Goodra and Sliggoo in a gentle tone.

"Don't be afraid. From now on, you're my partners. You don't have to worry about being hit, scolded, or starved, or being petrified."

Angie had already learned from the three Eeveelutions how badly the poachers treated them.

Beating and starving them were common practices. Any time the Pokémon did something the poachers didn't like, they were punished by being petrified.

Being petrified was a terrifying and painful experience. That's why Goodra and Sliggoo had been so frightened during their battle with Angie's team — they were desperately trying to win to avoid the punishment.

Having been punished so many times, Goodra and the two Sliggoos had developed a conditioned fear of humans, making it hard for them to trust anyone.

"Vaporeon~ Vaporeon~"

"Jolteon~ Jolteon~"

"Flareon~ Flareon~"

The personalities of the three Eeveelution were much bolder now. After spending some time with Angie, their unease had disappeared, and they were helping to calm down Goodra and the two Sliggo.

Of course, their quick recovery was mainly due to their short time with the Pokémon trader, and their trauma wasn't as severe as Goodra and the two Sliggo.

With the three Eeveelution providing comfort, Goodra and the Sliggo' emotions gradually stabilized. However, they still showed no signs of getting closer to Angie.

Angie wasn't in a hurry; this sort of thing couldn't be rushed. He believed time would slowly heal them!

Soon, the waiter brought the food, and Angie said to everyone, "Let's eat."

A full spread of food was laid out on the table. Angie, Diancie, Passimian, Doublade, Goodra, and the two Sliggo sat around the table.

The Pokémon that couldn't sit at the table, like Volcanion and the three Eeveelution, ate on the floor.

Goodra and the Sliggo were still too scared to sit near Angie and the others, so they sat far away on the opposite side of the table.

Fortunately, the hotel had a big enough table; otherwise, Angie thought Goodra and the others might curl up into a ball, unable to stretch their limbs.

Goodra was quite large, over two meters tall, making it a large Pokémon. The way it was cowering made Angie feel quite sorry for it.

After a long day, everyone was hungry and began to eat hurriedly.

Only Angie and Diancie remained composed, still elegant as they ate.

At first, Goodra and the Sliggo ate very cautiously, hesitant to touch certain foods. Their carefulness was truly heartbreaking.

Luckily, Diancie was very gentle and thoughtful, occasionally offering them foods that seemed appealing to them.

After dinner, Angie and the others didn't go out but instead lazily rested in the room.

Diancie and Espathra lay on the sofa, watching a TV show. The three Eeveelution couldn't resist joining them, and soon, their side was filled with laughter.

Volcanion, having nothing to watch, lay by the bed, resting with its eyes closed.

Goodra curled up in the corner, with the two Sliggo snuggling beside it.

Perhaps because they were so tired from the day and their nerves were on edge, they soon fell asleep after eating and drinking enough.

Seeing their peaceful expressions, Angie smiled and then lay on the bed, picking up his phone to play.

Doublade silently lay beside him.

After a while, Angie noticed the time and decided to turn off the lights and go to bed.

The next morning, Angie woke up early, as his biological clock had already set itself. He got up, washed up, and planned to go for a run outside.

Doublade woke up even earlier. It got up with Angie, washed up, and prepared to go out with him.

Passimian soon woke up as well, its biological clock having also adjusted.

Seeing Angie about to go out for exercise, Passimian quickly finished washing up and followed Angie out.

When Diancie woke up, Angie was already gone. However, Angie had left a video message for her, which she watched before calmly taking the three Eeveelution, Goodra, and the two Sliggo to wash up.

Afterward, Diancie asked, "Are you all hungry?"

The three Eeveelution nodded, and Goodra and the two Sliggo also nodded in agreement.

"Then let's have breakfast! We won't wait for Angie," Diancie smiled and said to the six Pokémon before calling the hotel to order breakfast.

Vaporeon, seeing this, asked curiously.

"Vaporeon~ Vaporeon~"

Aren't you worried Angie will be angry if you decide this on your own? If it were the poacher, we'd probably not only go without food but also get beaten.

Goodra and the two Sliggo also looked at Diancie with puzzled expressions.

Diancie chuckled and reassured them, "Don't worry. It's fine. In Angie's eyes, we are all free people with the right to decide what we want to do. He won't be angry about this."

The six Pokémon were all surprised by this statement.

Are there really humans like that?

Seeing the surprised expressions on the six Pokémon, Diancie explained, "Actually, most trainers treat their Pokémon like this. Angie isn't an exception. You all were just unlucky to meet a bad eggs at the beginning of your interaction with humans."

"Sliggo~"

Bad eggs?

One of the Sliggo was confused, unable to understand the term.

Diancie explained, "It means a bad person."

"Sliggo~~"

Bad person...

"Goodra~"

Bad eggs...

The two Sliggo and Goodra repeated the words "bad person" and "bad egg," seemingly reflecting on them.

At this moment, Volcanion sleepily walked over and said, "Don't worry, what Diancie said is true. That kid Angie... he's actually pretty decent."

Diancie giggled, "It's not easy to hear you say something nice about Angie."

Espathra , who had walked over as well, nodded in agreement.

"Hmph~~" Volcanion tilted its head arrogantly, as if trying to hide something, before loudly exclaiming, "Where's breakfast? Isn't breakfast here yet?"

Diancie laughed even louder upon hearing this.

Espathra couldn't hold back and joined in the laughter as well.

The three Eeveelution, although they didn't know why Diancie and Espathra were laughing, couldn't help but laugh too, caught up in the joyful atmosphere.

Goodra and the two Sliggo looked at Diancie and Espathra, then at the three Eeveelution, and then at Volcanion, who looked embarrassed. For some reason, their previously anxious hearts felt a sense of peace.

Maybe that human called Angie really is a good person. Otherwise, why would Diancie and the others show such wonderful smiles?

Such an enviable smile.

Goodra and Sliggo feared they might never smile as brightly as they once did.

When several Pokémon were almost done with breakfast, Angie finally returned, drenched in sweat, bringing Passimian and Doublade with him.

Goodra, two Sliggo, and three Eeveelution quickly stopped eating and looked up at Angie nervously, afraid that Angie might get angry.

Although Diancie and Volcanion had repeatedly told them not to worry, they couldn't help but feel anxious.

"You've already had breakfast!" Angie said, smiling as he entered.

As expected, just as Diancie had said, Angie wasn't angry at all.

Seeing the six Pokémon staring at him in unison, Angie asked in confusion, "What's going on? Why are you all looking at me like that?"

The six Pokémon quickly shook their heads, synchronized in their movements.

Angie laughed, "What are you rehearsing? Are you trying to surprise me?"

The six Pokémon shook their heads again.

"Hahaha~~~ You guys are too funny." Angie couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Kekekeke~~" Diancie knew the reason but didn't say anything, simply laughing along with Angie.

A joyful and relaxed atmosphere filled the room. The three Eeveelution skipped happily to Angie's side, gently rubbing their heads against his thighs to show their affection.

"Vaporeon~ Vaporeon~"

"Jolteon~ Jolteon~"

"Flareon~ Flareon~"

Angie laughed, "Alright, stop rubbing, I'm all dirty. Wait for me to take a bath, then I'll come out and play with you."

Unlike the three Eeveelution, who quickly grew close to Angie, Goodra and the two Sliggo were a bit at a loss.

They weren't sure if they should try to please Angie like the Eeveelution, but when it came to getting close to him, they couldn't help but feel some resistance.

For a moment, the three of them were deeply conflicted.

Angie seemed to notice their concerns, so he smiled and said to them, "You don't have to worry about whether to be close or distant with me. Just do what feels right for you, no one will force you to do anything."

Upon hearing this, the originally conflicted Sliggo and Goodra instantly felt at ease, and a warm feeling surged within them.

He's really kind.

"Alright, I'm going to take a bath!"

With that, Angie went into the bathroom with Passimian and Doublade. These two also needed a good wash.

Before long, sounds of conversation, laughter, and water splashing could be heard coming from the bathroom.

Looking at the bathroom door, Goodra and Sliggo were lost in thought for a long time.

After the bath and breakfast, Angie checked out of the hotel room.

However, he didn't head straight to Dahara City; instead, he took a walk around Anistar City with a few Pokémon.

Since it was rare to be out, how could he not relax a little? Unlike Ambrette Town, Anistar City was a well-known large city in the Kalos region, with many places to enjoy.

This time, Angie not only had Diancie, Passimian, and Doublade with him, but he also released Volcanion, Espathra, and the three Eeveelution.

Walking through the streets with a large group of Pokémon, they caught the attention of many people, especially Diancie and Volcanion, the two Pokémon no one had ever seen before, who garnered the most attention.

But most people simply watched friendly, sometimes snapping a photo, and didn't rush to approach.

Goodra and the two Sliggo, not being accustomed to crowded environments, didn't want to come out, so Angie didn't force them.

Angie spent the morning leisurely walking around with his Pokémon, then treated them to a delicious meal at a famous restaurant in Anistar City. Only then did they set off for Dahara City.

Since Dahara City wasn't far from Anistar City, Angie didn't take any special transportation. Instead, he rode Espathra, leisurely making his way toward Dahara City while enjoying the scenery along the way.

Except for Diancie, Passimian, Goodra, and Sliggo, who couldn't keep up with Espathra, Angie let Volcanion, Doublade, and the three Eeveelution roam outside.

Strolling along the endless path, Angie admired the scenery along the way.

On either side of the path was lush, flat grass, where Pokémon like Scatterbug, Bunnelby, and Dedenne could be seen roaming.

Beyond the grassland, there were dense forests, where Pokémon like Fletchling, Spritzee, and Vivillon often flitted by.

Breathing in the fresh air of the outdoors, Angie felt in a great mood.

Doublade floated quietly beside Angie, guarding him closely, never leaving his side.

Volcanion leisurely followed behind Espathra, looking somewhat lost in thought.

Angie smiled and asked, "Volcanion, it's rare for you to be out. Why do you look so down?"

Volcanion sighed deeply, "If only Magearna were here too. This place is so beautiful; I wish it could see it."

Angie: ...

He shouldn't have asked.

"Next time, I'll bring both of you out together," Angie said.

"Really?" Volcanion's eyes brightened.

"Really, really!" Angie reassured, "When have I ever lied to you?"

"Well, that's true," Volcanion replied after thinking for a moment.

With Angie's assurance, Volcanion's mood visibly lifted, and it seemed to walk with lighter steps.

Of course, the happiest were the three Eeveelution.

Since they were captured by the Pokémon traders, they hadn't been this happy again until today.

At first, they walked proudly on either side of Angie and Espathra, puffing out their chests and holding their heads high, promising to protect Angie.

But their attention was quickly diverted by the Pokémon along the path.

When a Bunnelby popped its head out of a hole, Flareon immediately noticed it.

"Flareon~"

It rushed toward Bunnelby, causing it to quickly retreat into the hole in fear.

Flareon ran to the hole's entrance, curiously sticking its head in to find Bunnelby. However, it accidentally slipped and fell into the hole.

Luckily, Vaporeon and Jolteon quickly arrived, each grabbing Flareon's leg and pulling it up.

At that moment, from another nearby hole, Bunnelby popped its head out again and mockingly stuck its tongue out at the Eeveelution.

The three Eeveelution exchanged glances and then cheered before rushing toward Bunnelby.

"Bunnelby~"

Bunnelby yelped and immediately retreated back into its hole.

And so, the three Eeveelution spent the rest of the journey playing a game of catch-the-Bunnelby, their laughter echoing throughout the path.
